Fire Cider - Daily Apple Cider Vinegar and Honey - 8 oz. (241mL)

Fire Cider Daily Apple Cider Vinegar and Honey is made with organic fruits and vegetables. Taken daily, a tablespoon of unfiltered apple cider vinegar can help support immune function and digestive functions. Did your grandmother ever tell you to drink raw apple cider vinegar? It's good advice, and more common than you may think. For generations of New Englanders, a tot of vinegar was a morning ritual.

To the base of certified organic apple cider vinegar, they've added whole, raw, certified organic oranges, lemons, onions, ginger, horseradish, habanero pepper, garlic and turmeric. They let this mixture steep for 6 weeks at room temperature, to preserve the living vinegar culture and delicate flavors of the ingredients. Lastly, they blend a generous helping of raw wildflower honey into the mix. The result is potent but balanced, offering layers of sweet, tart and spice.

Fire Cider tastes great on its own, or as an addition to tea, juice or salad. As grandmother would say, "Here's to feeling good all the time."

  • Includes Certified Organic Ingredients
  • Gluten Free
  • Tastes Great - Offering Layers of Sweet, Tart, & Spice
  • A Daily Tablespoon Can Help Support Immunity & Digestion
  • Whole, Raw, Certified Organic Oranges, Lemons, Onions, Ginger, Horseradish, Habanero Pepper, Garlic & Turmeric Steeps in the Cider for 6 Weeks

Other Uses for Fire Cider:

  • Determine if your kids are really sick, or just trying to stay home: As told by one of their customers: "If my son claims to be sick, I offer him Fire Cider. If he refuses, he’s not that sick; if he accepts, he’s really not feeling well and gets to stay home from school, sipping Fire Cider and orange juice. Works every time!"
  • Repel Wolves: Real or metaphorical, I don't see any wolves around, do you? Didn't think so.
  • Cure Boredom: Invite your friends to try Fire Cider for the first time!

Frequently Asked Questions

What's in Fire Cider?
The creators of Fire Cider, Shire City Herbals, only use ingredients that you would recognize in a grocery store. From most to least: raw apple cider vinegar, wildflower honey, oranges, lemons, onions, ginger, horseradish, habanero pepper, garlic and turmeric. And nothing else!

How can I use Fire Cider as a dietary supplement?
The components of Fire Cider have been traditionally used in a wide range of healthful applications. Perhaps you can ask your Grandma, a friendly old farmer or your health care professional what they think about Fire Cider! Here are just a few ways to put Fire Cider to work for you:

  • Support your immune system: Have a daily shot, and then have a few more throughout the day when you feel the need for more help staying healthy. Don't get too crazy though, take a breather and space out your Fire Cider shots with some thyme or holy basil tea!
  • Support your digestive system: A shot of Fire Cider after a big meal is a nice boost for your digestive system. It's like Fernet Branca, but without the booze, and with more vinegary spice. Ok, it's not much like Fernet.
  • Had too much to drink? The eye opening effect of a big slug of Fire Cider is a great way to shake off last night’s indulgence! Now go have a big greasy meal, followed by more Fire Cider and a much deserved nap.
  • Replace coffee: Doug L. in Connecticut says it best: "I tried this on a whim at the Big E because it sounded interesting. I had been trying to cut down on my caffeine intake for a while with little success, but once I started substituting my afternoon coffee with a shot of Fire Cider, I found the solution. Lots of energy with no caffeine!"

Does Fire Cider contain alcohol?
No, it does not. It does however, mix well with alcohol if that's your style!

Does Fire Cider contain GMO ingredients?
Absolutely not!  Fire Cider is made with 100% Certified Organic vinegar, fruits and vegetables. The only non-Organic ingredient is the honey, because domestic Certified Organic honey is next to impossible to source. They use wonderful raw honey from the hard working people (and bees!) of Merrimack Valley Apiaries. Their organic certifier is Bay State Organics.

This bottle tastes different than the last one, did you change your recipe?
No! Every batch tastes a little bit different for a few reasons. The biggest cause of flavor differences is seasonal variation in the fresh fruits and roots used. The citrus can be juicer or sweeter, the ginger and horseradish spicier or mellower, the honey mild or strongly flavored, etc...  Another cause of changing flavor is how long the Fire Cider has been in the bottle. When it's freshly bottled it tends to taste more citrus/ginger dominant, when it has mellowed for a few months it tends to be more onion/garlic/spice dominant. In short, every bottle is a unique snowflake of burning vinegar-y flavor.

Is Fire Cider gluten free?
Yes, all of the ingredients used are whole, raw, gluten free foods that they process themselves. However, if you are extremely sensitive, be aware that they make Fire Cider in a mixed use facility.

How much should I take?
For a daily dose it is recommended about ½ to 1 Tablespoon. You can just take a small sip from the bottle. If you feel under the weather you can take that same dose every 3 hours. You can take Fire Cider any time of day; just keep in mind that it does perk you up!

What is the shelf life of Fire Cider?
According to the FDA, the ‘best by date’ is 18 months from bottling. They put a batch code sticker on the bottom or side of every bottle to tell you when the bottle turns 18 months old.

Does Fire Cider contain sugar?
Yes, there are 3 grams of sugar from the raw honey per one tablespoon serving.

How should I store Fire Cider?
In an abundance of caution, the FDA feels that you should refrigerate Fire Cider after opening. The creators don't refrigerate theirs, but they admit to living on the edge.

About Fire Cider

Dana St. Pierre began making early versions of Fire Cider in the 1990's to support his immune system and respiratory health. Through the years, he tinkered with what started as his grandmother’s ‘recipe’ of horseradish and honey, to make it both potent and palatable. Over a dozen years, Dana added a few new twists to the traditional New England tonic base of apple cider vinegar and honey. In 2010, Dana and his wife, Amy Huebner, a holistic health coach, were invited to sell their Fire Cider at the Handmade Holiday Festival in Pittsfield, MA. So many of the people who sampled Fire Cider bought some and they soon sold out. Seeing people’s need for their spicy tonic, they started the company to bring Fire Cider to everyone willing to try some.

Brian Huebner, Amy's brother and a comic artist, shared his talent by creating the labels for Fire Cider, complete with an original comic character proudly representing Fire Cider on every bottle. Amy, Brian and Dana started making Fire Cider in a church kitchen in their neighborhood and were running the business out of their apartment for the first few years. Now they make Fire Cider at the Franklin County CDC in their newly updated kitchen facility. They even get to share some really cool kitchen equipment with the folks who make Katalyst Kombucha, another CDC tenant.

The Packaging: They only put the best into their tonic and that goes for all the packaging too. The amber glass bottles not only look cool, they are completely recyclable, even the plastic caps! The brown glass protects from damage due to sunlight so you can keep your bottle anywhere. Even their shipping materials and labels are all recycled, recyclable, and/or compostable. Oh, and their warehouse is solar powered- Love Your Mother Earth!

Shake before use. For a daily dose it is recommended about ½ to 1 Tablespoon. You can just take a small sip from the bottle. If you feel under the weather you can take that same dose every 3 hours. You can take Fire Cider any time of day; just keep in mind that it does perk you up!
