The Science of Life
Ayurveda considers the whole person and emphasizes prevention rather than the cure of symptoms. Ayurveda, literally, "the science of life," is the ancient Indian art and science of health and rejuvenation through the use of natural herbs, roots and minerals. It is said that over 3000 years ago, nature revealed the particular properties of each tree, plant, herb, root and flower to a great sage, Dhanwantari, as he sat in deep meditation in the midst of a forest. Ancient rishis and sages continued to learn of the beneficial link between the vegetable, mineral and human worlds, and discovered that bodily health comes from cultivating a harmonious balance of nature's three subtle energies, or doshas: vata, pitta and kapha, which are present in all life and matter.
The doshas have certain qualities or attributes which characterize their effects on the human body. The individual remains naturally healthy as long as these elements are in a state of equilibrium. But if this equilibrium is disturbed beyond a point, the body becomes susceptible to premature aging, disease and decay. Ayurveda provides a holistic means for the treatment of many conditions which are considered to be obstinate and incurable in other systems. Simultaneously, it lays a great deal of emphasis upon the maintenance of positive health of an individual, taking into consideration the full scope of human nature and spiritual well-being.
Over 30 years ago, Auromere Ayurvedic Imports started as a small community-owned business that became one of the first companies to introduce Ayurveda to the U.S. Today, as a leading importer of Ayurvedic body care, books on Integral Yoga, and conscious living products, Auromere's mission is to bring the ancient spiritual and traditional healing wisdom of India and a higher consciousness within reach of everyone's modern, fast-paced lives.
Ayurveda, literally, "the science of life," is the ancient holistic system of promoting well-being and rejuvenation from India. The beneficial links between the vegetable, mineral and human worlds were documented and passed down through the centuries in a science that promotes bodily, psychological and spiritual well-being through the cultivation of a conscious, healthy diet and lifestyle. The practice of Ayurveda aims at a harmonious balance of Nature's three subtle energies, the doshas: vata, pitta and kapha, which are present in all life and matter and represent the key to maintaining and recovering a total well-being.
More than just natural, the wild-crafted herbs and minerals used within the Auromere recipes are noted for their unique beneficial and rejuvenative qualities. The purity and effectiveness of the Ayurvedic ingredients, formulations and manufacturing procedures make Auromere products distinctively different and delightfully powerful for maintaining balance, well-being, and beauty. Auromere work closely with their suppliers in India to ensure the highest quality, authentic, natural products, engaging local specialists, practitioners and cottage industries which provide employment in local village communities in various parts of the country.
Auromere is committed to providing natural, vegetarian body care products that are not tested on animals. They condemn the practice of cruelty to animals through drug and cosmetic testing. Over the years, the Auromere brand has carried the seal of approval from the Humane Society, Beauty Without Cruelty, PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and the "Leaping Bunny" logo of the CCIC (Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics).
Auromere itself is owned and operated by Sri Aurobindo Sadhana Peetham, a non-profit Integral Yoga community, and run by its residential members and volunteers as a part of their spiritual practice. Proceeds support the upkeep and activities of the community, as well as other Integral Yoga organizations in the U.S. and India. 25% of profits on their Incense helps support a local village school in Orissa, one of the poorest regions of India; while 10% of profits on the full line of Auromere products and books are donated to the support and development of Auroville, the bio-sustainable "City of Human Unity" in southeastern India.
