Seeds of Change - Organic Quinoa and Brown Rice - 8.5 oz. (240g)

Seeds of Change Organic Quinoa and Brown Rice is delicious. What do you think of when you think of the Andes? Treacherous, wind-swept peaks? At 13,000 feet, it can be gusty on the Uyuni Salt Flats. But for the people of the Bolivian Altiplano, the tradition of cultivating Quinoa has endured since the time of the Incas. And it's this tradition that brings us this deliciously fluffy and exceptionally nutritious supergrain.

    Frequently Asked Questions
Are the dairy ingredients used in SEEDS OF CHANGE Products organic?
They use Certified Organic milk (from cows) in their products.

Why is evaporated cane juice used in SEEDS OF CHANGE Products?
It is a naturally derived sugar from heated concentration of cane syrup. The benefit of this ingredient is that it is not chemically bleached like white sugar.

Do any of the SEEDS OF CHANGE Products contain Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs)?
No, SEEDS OF CHANGE Products do not contain Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). The National Organic Program (NOP) standard prohibits the use of genetically modified organisms (defined in the standards as "excluded methods") in organic operations. A genetically modified organism is an organism whose genetic material has been altered using techniques in genetics generally known as "recombinant DNA technology". Recombinant DNA technology is the ability to combine DNA molecules from different sources into the one molecule in a test tube. SEEDS OF CHANGE seeds and the crops in which their food products are derived from are developed through natural selection and breeding techniques.

What SEEDS OF CHANGE Products are gluten-free?
All SEEDS OF CHANGE Simmer Sauces do not have ingredients containing gluten. Some of their Rice & Grain side dishes and Ready-To-Heat Rice do not have ingredients containing gluten. All SEEDS OF CHANGE food products are manufactured on production lines which produce items that do contain gluten. In the manufacturing facilities they perform a thorough cleaning of the production lines between production runs (hot water / sterilization / high pressure air). Although they use good manufacturing practices, there is no way they can guarantee that the lines are 100% free from cross contamination. Good Manufacturing Practices or GMPs is a term that is recognized worldwide for the control and management of manufacturing and quality control testing of foods and pharmaceutical products. GMPs are enforced in the United States by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

Are any of the ingredients in any SEEDS OF CHANGE Product irradiated?
No ingredient or seed in any SEEDS OF CHANGE Product is irradiated.

Is there alcohol in the white wine vinegar?
There is no percentage of alcohol in this ingredient. It is an alcohol-free ingredient.

What is the shelf life of SEEDS OF CHANGE Products?
SEEDS OF CHANGE Simmer Sauces have an 18-month shelf life. Boxed Rice & Grain Side Dishes and Ready-To-Heat Rice have a 12-month shelf life.

How do you read the manufacturing code on the bottles, jars, and cartons?
All SEEDS OF CHANGE products have a "Best Before" date printed directly on the packaging or on the neck of their items in glass jars. Under the "Best Before" date is the manufacturing code. The first 3 numbers indicate the year and week when the product was made. The first number is the last digit of the year and the second and third digits are the week of the year. For example, a code that begins with "012" was made the 12th week of 2010.

How long do the Simmer Sauces last in the refrigerator?
The unused Simmer Sauce must be refrigerated after opening. They will last in the refrigerator for about 2 weeks.

Is it okay to freeze opened product?
Simmer Sauces - it is okay to freeze unused Simmer Sauce. For best results, freeze immediately after opening jar. Do not freeze in the glass jar. Store in a freezer appropriate container. Defrost in refrigerator and use within 2 weeks.

What will happen if the jar or bottle freezes?
If any of the jars of product (Simmer Sauces) become frozen, they should be fine as long as the lids have not popped or the jars do not have any cracks or damage. The only thing is the texture may be slightly different. They would have more of a visual separation of ingredients.

    Storing Unopened Product
Unopened SEEDS OF CHANGE Products should be kept in a cool (less than 80°F), dry, insect-free area, away from odoriferous material of any kind.

Do any of the SEEDS OF CHANGE Products contain Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)?
They do not add MSG to any SEEDS OF CHANGE Product. However, glutamates occur naturally in some ingredients (e.g., tomatoes, mushrooms, Parmesan cheese, etc.).

    What is Quinoa?
This is a gluten free ingredient. It is an ancient South American grain that has the highest protein content of all grains. Upon cooking, the germ from the quinoa is loosened away from the seed and you can observe thin, pale-colored sprouts floating on the surface of the cooking water and dispersed throughout the cooked product. The quinoa is washed and polished prior to packaging.

Are the spices used in the SEEDS OF CHANGE Products irradiated?
All of the spices used are Certified Organic and are not irradiated.

What SEEDS OF CHANGE Products are vegetarian appropriate?

    Our Organic Seeds
We Grow Our Seeds Organically. We are committed to safeguarding your health and that of the planet. Organic, sustainable agriculture produces healthy soils, naturally rich and balanced in the nutrients plants need. That's why we grow 100% of our seeds organically on our own certified organic research facilities and through our unique network of certified organic family farms.

    We Do Not Use GMOs
To be certified organic, we must prove and warrant the absence of any transgenic (i.e., the introduction of a gene or trait from one species into another unrelated species) germplasm in our source material and breeding program, as well the absence of any GMO material in the seed production, cleaning, storage and shipment chain. We do not use GMO techniques in our breeding program and we carefully isolate our seed production from possible GMO crops. We test all relevant seed for absence of GMOs and we control the entire chain from production to delivery to our customer. As we are 100% certified organic, our products are likewise certified to be free of GMOs.

We Preserve Heirloom and Traditional Varieties
Heirloom and traditional varieties have endured because of their time-tested value to generations of gardeners and farmers. Whether for their great taste, high nutrition or vigorous growth, we are trying to preserve as many of these treasured varieties as possible. We offer both open-pollinated and hybrid seeds, all of which represent agro-biodiversity as well as value to the gardener, farmer and consumer of the end food products.

    We Research What We Sell
Each year our researchers cultivate hundreds of varieties of plants under organic conditions to make sure that the seeds you buy will thrive in your organic garden. Furthermore, our seeds are carefully cleaned and meticulously inspected before undergoing rigorous germination testing, all to provide you with the best product possible. Our goal is to produce the highest quality, 100% certified organic, flower, herb and vegetable seeds and to make them available to everyone who wishes to start with the best for their organic garden or farm.
