Frequently Asked Questions:
Are all Nature's Baby Organics' products certified?
Their NSF line is certified to the NSF/ANSI 305 Standard for Personal Care Products Containing Organic Ingredients. For all of their products that have the USDA Organic logo on them they are certified to the USDA NOP Organic Standard. They have formulated all products with premium ingredients. The ingredients in their NSF and Certified Organic lines meet all federal requirements for organic ingredients, and are certified by third party certifying organizations such as: Quality Assurance International (QAI), Oregon Tilth, and other organic certification agencies.
What is Nature's Baby Organics' animal testing policy?
They have signed a pledge to be a “Cruelty Free” product manufacturer. This means they have a zero tolerance policy on animal testing on their products and ingredients. They can assure you that all of their products contain natural, organic, cruelty-free, and 100% vegetarian ingredients. This means that all of their products contain a minimum of 70% organic content. In addition, they are manufactured using materials, processes, production criteria, and conditions that have been approved by either NSF or the USDA.
How pure are Nature's Baby Organics' products?
Their products are formulated without: parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, artificial colors, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate, sodium methyl sulfate, propylene glycol, aluminum, mineral oil, petrolatum, oxybenzone, nano-particles, DEA, MEA or TEA, PEGs and PEG derivatives, ethoxylated ingredients associated with 1,4 dioxane, formaldehyde donors, or GMOs.
Are Nature's Baby Organics' “Natural” products certified?
Nature's Baby Organics' line of “Natural” products do not carry the USDA or NSF certified seals. However, you can rest assure that they are made with only the finest natural ingredients. These products are free of parabens, phthlalate, SLS, SLES and glycol. Most products are gluten free and vegan as well.
Why aren't all of Nature's Baby Organics' products certified by the USDA?
Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to create a “good” shampoo or conditioner that comply to the strict list of allowed ingredients by the USDA’s National Organic Program (NOP). The NOP standards are mainly developed for food and agricultural products and as such, limits the use of traditional cosmetic/personal care ingredients that are widely used in the industry. As an example, they have yet to find a natural preservative that 1) keeps the product fresh on the shelves; 2) maintains product shelf stability for at least one year; 3) be commercially available, 4) works with products that contain water; and 5) comply to the USDA NOP standards.
All products containing water must be preserved with either an alcohol-containing preservative, parabens or other commercially available preservatives. Nature's Baby Organics is hopeful that researchers and/or product formulators will eventually develop an effective 100% natural preservative in the near future. Until then, and as long as NOP standards remain the same, Nature's Baby Organics has no choice but to use a minimum amount of preservatives, such as sodium benzoate, in their products to maintain the necessary shelf life. Naturally, this is against their wish but they keep the amount of preservatives at a base minimum, just enough to extend the shelf life to an acceptable extent as expected by their customers. Therefore, their products are very delicate and can go rancid if exposed to any source of contamination. They ask all their customers to keep the lids of their bottles closed after each use in order to avoid contaminating the content.
How do I know if I am allergic to any Nature's Baby Organics products?
They recommend that you carefully review the ingredient list of any product you use to determine if it is acceptable to your needs. If you see an allergic reaction, please stop using the product.
Are Nature's Baby Organics' shampoos "tear free"?
Although Nature's Baby Organics' shampoos are pH neutral and therefore naturally tear-free, few babies might have an allergic reaction that would trigger redness and/or irritation in their eyes.
Can the shampoos/conditioners go bad (mold or foul smell)?
Since they use very little amount of preservatives in their formulas, Nature's Baby Organics products can potentially go rancid due to exposure to water or other outside contaminants. Therefore, they encourage everyone to always keep the lids closed after use and avoid leaving the bottles under running water while showering. If you suspect that your product has gone rancid, please discontinue use and dispose of it.
Are Nature's Baby Organics' products 100% vegan?
No. Products containing beeswax (Ah-Choo, Soothing Stick and Diaper Ointment) are naturally not 100% vegan. All other products are 100% vegan.
Nature’s Baby Organics is proud to announce that they received certification from NSF/ANSI 305 for their; Conditioner & Detangler, Shampoo & Body Wash, Face & Body Moisturizer, and Bubble Bath products. With this change comes a new look. They have updated their packaging with a new, warm, and inviting look that they hope you will approve and appreciate.
They have carefully crafted their product formulations to meet the highest established organic industry standards in the personal care category. With their consumer families in mind, they went above and beyond in each and every step of the process to ensure that they can provide you with a high quality, toxin free line of personal care products that any family would be proud to use. They realize that you have plenty of options when shopping for personal care items and they would be privileged to be one of your preferred brands.
So what are NSF/ANSI 305 standards and why is it important to you as a consumer and/or vendor:
The NSF/ANSI 305 Standard for Personal Care Products Containing Organic Ingredients defines labeling and marketing requirements. The following passage is taken from the NSF Web site:
“The voluntary standard allows the “contains organic ingredients” designation for products with organic content of 70 percent or more that comply with all other requirements of the standard. To consider the intricacies of personal care product formulations and eliminate consumer confusion, the NSF standard is designed only for “contains organic ingredients” claims and allows for limited chemical processes that are typical for personal care products but would not be allowed for food products. NSF/ANSI 305 also requires companies to state the exact percentage of organic content based on the requirements of the standard.”
The new NSF/ANSI 305 was established to help remove consumer confusion by certifying that a company can prove that each product has a minimum organic content of 70 percent or more and complies with all NSF/ANSI 305 requirements. This means that any product using the term “Contains Organic Ingredients” on the label must now prove that they are using at least 70% organic ingredients. The other 30% have to be compliant with the standard’s guidelines. This standard creates accountability for ingredients and manufacturing process. The NSF/ANSI 305 standard, like the USDA NOP standard, requires that companies document how their manufacturing process and handling of all organic raw materials protects their organic integrity. This means that everything from pest management, sanitation procedures and chemicals, to manufacturing processes are all scrutinized.
All their products contain 70% or more certified organic ingredients. The organic ingredients used in Nature’s Baby Organics products are certified by organic certifying organizations such as Oregon Tilth and QAI to name a few.
For years, most personal care brands have been labeling products with the word “organic,” in a misleading way, creating confusion in the marketplace. The word “organic” should be taken seriously; not just by consumers who believe they are getting a “pure” product, but by manufacturers who have the duty to back up the claims they put on their labels.
At Nature’s Baby Organics, they are committed to providing an organic, safe, pure, gentle yet effective line of products that can be used by the whole family; from a breastfeeding mother, to infants, children, senior citizens, and everyone in between. Their products were inspired by nature, and in keeping with this their new packaging reflects the beautiful, brilliant colors found in the world around us.
About Nature's Baby Organics
There is a reason why they call their company Nature’s Baby Organic; they won’t make any product unless it contains at least 70% organic ingredients, while maintaining the same performance level as the leading non-organic competitors in the marketplace. But Nature's Baby Organics is not just organic for the sake of being organic.
Many children and adult products in the marketplace typically contain known or suspected skin irritants. Organic and/or minimally processed ingredients often provide them with relief. Nature's Baby Organics' products were specifically developed by a mother whose concern for her children’s sensitive skin triggered the creation of their company. That’s how NBO came about. So Nature's Baby Organics avoids, to the extent possible, to use any ingredient that might be suspect. That is not a claim that no one will ever show any allergic reaction to their products, but Nature's Baby Organics diligently researches each and every ingredient to minimize such incidents.
Nature's Baby Organics produces all products by using environmentally sound and responsible processing and packaging. Nature's Baby Organics' USDA organic and their National Sanitary Foundation (NSF) certifications and audits performed by third parties are there to give Nature's Baby Organics customers confidence in making sure that all their processes and ingredients are clean and pure.
Nature's Baby Organics is a transparent and responsible company which can be seen in their support of the “Campaign for Safe Cosmetics” and their commitment to be part of the Organic Trade Association, NSF and other environmental and philanthropic causes.
Why use suspect ingredients when Nature's Baby Organics has the means, and the know-how to produce equally effective yet minimally-processed and environmentally-friendly products that can be used safely on your baby’s delicate skin?
Nature's Baby Organics' vision has not changed throughout the years, they strive not only to meet your expectations, but to exceed them by showing you how well their products perform.
