Frequently Asked Questions
What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is an ancient (5,000 years old), plant-based healing tradition from India. It’s based in the idea that health and wellness comes from balance—and that if you’re not balanced inside, it shows up on the outside, on skin and hair and energy levels and more. So the only way to ensure balance is to look at the whole person, inside and out. Instead of just looking at your skin, then, Ayurveda looks at your skin, and your hair, and your habits and your outlook. By knowing who you are and how you live, it can help find the best balance for you.
What are doshas, and why does it matter if I know mine?
Doshas are how Ayurveda sees you. They’re a way of talking about your essential nature—who you are, inside and out. It’s by looking at your dosha—the type that most says “you”—that Avurveda knows how to keep you in balance.
Knowing your dosha isn’t essential (and in fact, we’ve all got a bit of all 3 doshas inside of us), but it is the best way to find the skin, body and hair care products that will work for you. And it’s easy to find out—just take Veria's Dosha Quiz (http://www.veria.com/products/find-your-dosha/).
What makes Veria's products natural?
Veria know there are a lot of definitions of “natural.” To them, it means their skin, hair and body care relies on plant-based extracts, peptides and oils, rather than harsh chemicals. They’re made without synthetic fragrances, harsh sulfites, parabens or phthalates, and were created to meet Whole Foods’ Premium Body Care™ standards—so they’re sourced well, environmentally conscious and safe for you.
The Veria SO line of supplements, too, is natural (as Ayurveda asks): their Herbal Formulas are entirely plant-based and sourced sustainably, and all their Single Organic Herbs are certified organic.
What do peptides do? And are they natural? What are the benefits?
Peptides are organic chemical compounds that occur naturally in living things. The ones Veria use are all plant-based, and chosen because they’re so effective at stimulating collagen (which is responsible for skin texture and tone). The more collagen your skin makes, the fewer fine lines and wrinkles you’ll see; the brighter and firmer your skin will be.
I took the dosha test, but I’m not sure the products it recommends are right for me. What do I do?
Doshas are guidelines. They’re great tools, but you know yourself best. And sometimes the season or your lifestyle has something to say about it. (Cold weather, say, or tension can make skin behave in ways it wouldn’t normally.) So if your dosha’s telling you something that doesn’t sound quite right, don’t stress, go with what does.
Are the shampoos and conditioners safe for color-treated hair?
Absolutely. And if your color process hasn’t been entirely kind to your hair, they also work to balance out the effects. (And if it goes so far as to feel overdry or damaged, you may want to check out Veria's Undo What’s Done Deep Conditioner.)
The color has changed in some of my products; are they still safe to use?
Absolutely. Sometimes with natural ingredients, you’ll see color variations (because, well, they’re natural), but it doesn’t have any effect on how well they work for you.
Where are Veria products made?
Veria ID personal care products are all made in the US.
Because we all have our own identity.
Veria Innerdosha makes personal care really personal - by looking at the whole you, not just the one in the mirror. Their natural skin, hair and body care considers how you look, but also how you live, what you love, what makes you "you". It's a 5,000 year old idea - based in nature and called Ayurveda - that never gets old.
It’s natural, and it works, beautifully. Ayurveda looks at what’s inside—your essential nature, or “dosha”—to balance what’s outside: your skin, your hair, your mood, your glow. If your dosha tends to be quick and airy, your skin and hair mantra should be “hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.” If you’re fiery instead, your regimen should play it cool. And if you’re firmly grounded, you need care that takes a load off. Think of your dosha as your personal beauty advisor.
Ayurveda is about balance, and it’s hard to balance what’s organic (you) with what’s artificial. That’s why Veria seek out effective herbal ingredients, and why they’re careful about what goes into their formulas.
Veria ID is made without:
- synthetic fragrances
- harsh sulfates
Besides that, it works: ID marries herbal wisdom with the best of modern science—using potent natural extracts and a signature plant peptide that’s in all Veria skin care—to advance the ancient to amazing.
The wisdom may be age-old, but the idea’s more relevant than ever: today we’re more careful about what goes in, and on, our bodies, and how we define “natural.” So at Veria ID:Innerdosha, they don’t ask you to take their word for it; they look to trusted sources who have well-defined natural care standards. Whole Foods’ Premium Body Care™ standards—for instance. ID was created with them in mind, which means they adhere to the strictest guidelines for quality ingredient sourcing, low environmental impact, protecting your safety, and well, results.
The Veria Story
Veria was born in India as the vision of Subhash Chandra, one of the country's leading entrepreneurs. Having done well, he made the choice to also do good - to create a company that would help people live healthier, more vital lives, based on the 5,000 year-old wellness principles of Ayurveda. As the sister company to Veria Living - the premiere 24/7 wellness TV network - Veria now makes it possible to surround yourself with a lifestyle of wellness.
On a Mission
Veria's quest is for balance. By marrying ancient Ayurvedic wisdom with cutting-edge science, Veria creates personal care products and herbal supplements designed to promote wellness from within. And they are committed to doing it in the most natural, sustainable ways possible, to preserve balance within the environment, their communities, and themselves.
At Veria, whatever they do is guided by a simply profound principle: More of the good, less of the bad. They make products that do good and work better. They choose premium ingredients over harsh chemicals, conscious packaging instead of waste, the right regimen, not the biggest. It’s balance. It’s Ayurveda. And best of all, it works. Beautifully.
Sustainability is their Nature
They’d never say something’s good for you that isn’t also good for the world. So when they say “more of the good, less of the bad,” they mean people, planet, all of it. It’s not in their nature to do it any other way.
So what’s good?
Recycled packaging, for one thing. Their Veria ID tubes are 67% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content, and their jars and bottles are 25% PCR. Their cartons, too, are 50% PCR.
Renewable energy. The power to produce their labels and cartons is all renewable, mostly from wind. That makes them 100% “carbon-neutral.”
And makes them proud.
