Why Choose E-Cloth?
At E-Cloth, they don't like to say they sell cleaning cloths, they sell Chemical Free Cleaning. This isn't some marketing gimmick and they're not an As Seen On TV disappointment that you hear about on the evening news - In fact, E-Cloth is featured in the May issue of Real Simple and has been rated Best of the Best in three separate categories! Chemical Free Cleaning isn't a product as much as a lifestyle change. Choosing to clean differently in order to clean better with less effort, and make your home safer by eliminating toxic chemicals. E-Cloth is just a better cloth and a better clean!

Scientifically Better
The best microfiber cloths on the market have between 90,000 and 200,000 fibers per square inch (MOST cloths being sold only have 25,000-75,000). e-cloths have 1.6 Million fibers per inch. This is possible because we developed a better manufacturing process - using technology to be better. Why are fibers important? The cloths are made of polyester and nylon, so they don't "absorb" anything. Water, dirt, oil, grease, grime and even bacteria are trapped within the fibers - so the more fibers you have the better the cloth works. Think of it as millions of tiny hands grabbing onto everything on the surface of your countertop or sink.

The cloth is also proven to remove over 99% of bacteria from a hard surface. These cloths don't kill bacteria, they collect bacteria from surfaces. This is another benefit of all of those fibers - they literally scrape the surface clean at a microbial level. The best part - when you run this cloth under hot water in your sink, all but .01% of that bacteria, dirt, oil and grease is released from the cloth down the sink. So, there is virtually no transfer back onto clean surfaces.

A Better Clean
E-Cloth is not just the best "green cleaning" solution and it's not just the best microfiber cleaning. It's the best clean you can give your home or office. Using an e-cloth and just water can give your home the best clean it's ever had with less effort and expense than your current cleaning method.

E-Cloth is the best solution for the toughest cleaning challenges: Windows, Stainless Steel Surfaces, Bathrooms, and Kitchens.
Your windows and mirrors get a crystal clear clean and the glass is left lint-free and streak free. Your stainless steel surfaces will be smudge-free and fingerprint-free. Kitchen surfaces from countertops to sinks, stoves, and microwaves all clean up quickly and completely using just an e-cloth and water.

Better for your Family
All the moms out there are saying, "My family barely notices that the house is clean, how can it be better for them?" A surface cleaned with an e-cloth is free of two potentially harmful things: cleaning chemicals and bacteria. One of the scariest things ever written is this excerpt from a Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons study:

"Women who work at home have a 54% higher death rate from cancer than women working away from the home." A 15 year study concluded that it is directly linked to the toxic household chemicals in the home.

The National Research Council reports that "No toxic information is available for more than 80% of the chemicals in everyday use products." Not only do you not know what chemicals you're exposing your family to, there isn't a way to find out.

These chemicals leave residue on every surface of the home. Eliminating them is good for you and your family. We all know why it's important to get rid of bacteria, but the chemicals we've been using to kill them might be just as harmful to us.

Better for the environment
E-Cloth is often asked, "How can a cloth made of polyester and nylon be good for the environment?" That is a question they are happy to answer. E-Cloths come with a 300 Wash Guarantee. You do daily cleaning with E-Cloth and rinse the cloth out in the sink under hot water. Once each week, wash the cloth with your regular wash (do not use bleach or fabric softener) and they are ready for another week of cleaning. If you wash the cloth once each week, the cloths are guaranteed for about 6 years of cleaning. In six years, how many paper towels, wipes, spray cans and bottles of chemicals will you go through?

Eliminating or reducing the use of household cleaning chemicals is a major benefit to the environment. Those chemicals go down our drains and remain on surfaces in our homes. The cans and bottles they are sold in end up in our landfills forever. An E-Cloth and just water avoids all of this mess.

Paper towels are also a huge burden on the environment. According to the EPA, "every day 3,000 tons of used paper towels are discarded in landfills". It takes 51,000 trees per day to replace those used paper towels. By using an e-cloth to wipe up spills and accomplish those quick cleaning tasks, your home gets a more thoroughly cleaned surface, you save the cost of the paper towel and the waste doesn't end up in our landfill. That is a lot of benefit from one simple change.

How E-Cloth Works
Unlike ordinary cloths, E-Cloth fibers are designed and fabricated to provide maximum cleaning power. Primarily made from polyester and polyamide, the tiny e-cloth fibers are 1,000 times finer than cotton fibers or 1/200th diameter of a human hair. The fibers are the smallest in the world that can be made by man.

The highest quality oil in the world is used to make the micro-size polyester (naturally attracts oil) and polyamide (naturally attracts water) fibers.

During production, every fiber is split into 16 fiber filaments, each of which is processed to give perfect cleaning and polishing performance. Each cloth is fabricated to have as many as 1.6 million fiber strands per square inch of cloth.

Nearly 500 million fiber strands are in each cloth resulting in 1,246 miles of e-cloth fibers in each cloth. To put this in perspective, fibers from one E-Cloth would stretch from New York City to Minneapolis or Seattle to San Diego.

It is E-Cloth's composition (highest quality polyester and polyamide), fiber size (smallest diameter in the world), fiber processing (highest density in the world), that allows e-cloth to outperform all other microfiber and cleaning cloths.

E-Cloth's filaments are so small and so strong; using just water they break up, lift, lock in, and clean deep down into the tiniest grooves and crevices. Dust, grease, oils, grime, dirt and bacteria are quickly and easily removed and locked away deep inside the fibers until the cloths are rinsed or washed.

Surfaces are cleaned so effectively that there is nowhere left for bacteria to grow. Surfaces are left polished and totally smear and lint free. e-cloths rapidly absorb 7 times their weight in water. In addition, scientific research carried out by world renowned Silliker Group, has proven that E-Cloths also remove over 99% of bacteria.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which E-Cloth do I use?
Any hard surfaces in your home (including greasy surfaces) can be cleaned effectively with just the General Purpose Cloth, the Glass & Polishing Cloth and the Mop. E-Cloth produces the General Purpose Cloth in a number of colors to help you reserve a different color for cleaning different areas.

The General Purpose Cloth cleans thick grease and dirt and can tackle the heaviest cleaning jobs with just water. As it has thicker fibers, it is not as good as the Glass & Polishing Cloths at leaving a totally streak-free finish and it is best used in combination with it.

The Glass & Polishing Cloth cleans light grease and dirt with just water and leaves a streak-free finish, when it is used dry on a damp surface. It is perfect on glass and shiny surfaces - windows, mirrors, taps, toasters, and stainless steel.

Other special cloths have been developed to do an even more effective job on specific surfaces.

Why has E-Cloth developed so many different cloths?
Each of the cloths in their range has been developed for absolute optimum performance for a specific purpose. Three examples:
  • While the General Purpose Cloth will clean baths well, the extra absorbency and surface area of the Bathroom Cloth gives a more thorough clean with less effort
  • Used dry, the General Purpose Cloth attracts dust and is an effective duster, but their Dusting Cloth is even more effective, holding more dust and releasing gathered dust more effectively
  • The Glass & Polishing Cloth leaves lenses and screens completely clear, but their Screen and other Lens cloths are a smoother weave and there is less risk of small particles being held in the cloth, which might damage the surface.
Can E-Cloth be used on fabrics or carpets?
E-Cloth's General Purpose Cloth can be surprisingly effective on fabric of any kind and it's always worth trying, before resorting to a chemical cleaner. They will usually work on wine spills - use cold water and experiment on a test area first.

Do E-Cloths help to eliminate bacteria?
E-Cloths remove over 99% of bacteria. All the main e-cloths have been tested by an internationally recognized micro-biology laboratory (Silliker - 45 laboratories worldwide and work with McDonalds, Kraft Foods & Kelloggs). All have been shown to remove over 99% bacteria, including e-coli, listeria and aspergillus. The Mop was proven to remove over 98%. Tests showed that, after a brief rinse, only 0.01% of bacteria are reintroduced to a surface. Additionally, because the cloths do not leave any residue on the cleaned surface, there is nothing left behind to encourage the development of bacteria.

How long will E-Cloths last?
As long as the care instructions are followed, with normal use our cloths will last for several years and are guaranteed for 300 washes. There may be some loss of color or staining, but this will not affect performance. Snagging fibers on sharp edges will inevitably occur.

Can I use other cleaning products with my E-Cloth?
E-Cloths can be used with other cleaning products, but because e-cloths clean so well with just water, it is not normally necessary.

Contact with bleach should be avoided, as it breaks down the fibers. The effectiveness of the cloths can be affected by the fibers becoming clogged by other cleaning agents.

If there is a build-up of burnt-on food in the kitchen, or limescale in the bathroom, a specialist cleaning product may be needed to remove this. Once removed, use E-Cloths to maintain the surface with just water. Some people may like to use a natural bleach or disinfectant around the toilet area.

Can E-Cloths scratch surfaces?
E-Cloth fibers are non-abrasive and will not scratch surfaces, but care should be taken on special surfaces such as car bodies, in case grit, caught in the fibers, scratches the surface.

What if there is a streak or smear left after cleaning?
This is usually for one of two reasons. The first is that the cloth has been used too wet - for the final polish, the cloth should be used dry on a damp surface. E-Cloth recommends using a dry Glass & Polishing Cloth for the final finish.

The second reason can be that there is a surface layer left by the factory (new product) or a chemical has previously been used for cleaning. In either case, clean a small area using the General Purpose Cloth followed by the Glass & Polishing cloth. Repeat as necessary and you will see the whole surface gradually come clean. Using warm water may help.

Are there particular areas that need other cleaning products?
There are particular cleaning tasks where you may need help from other products. For example, for burnt-on dirt on ovens and stoves or a build-up of calcium deposits from water. In these cases, it may be necessary to supplement E-Cloths with other products. Once clean, it will be easy to maintain the surface using just E-Cloths and water.

Why do many manufacturers recommend E-Cloth for cleaning their appliances and household surfaces?
Many manufacturers recommend that chemicals are not used on their products. They have tested E-Cloth and found it particularly effective. They recognize the no- compromise high quality of E-Cloth and are happy to associate their brand name with E-Cloth.

Can cleaning chemicals damage my E-Cloth?
Although not recommended, you can use most cleaning chemicals with e-cloth. Some chemicals will block the fibers and reduce performance. Do not use bleach or chemicals containing bleach, as this will damage the fibers.

Do I need to disinfect?
Some people like to use cleaning chemicals or disinfectant around the toilet area or on food preparation areas. For 90% of the house, e-cloths will clean with just water.

Why do I still have marks on my cloths when I have washed them, even boil washed them?
Many types of dirt contain a pigment which stains any cloth. If the cloth has been washed properly, it will be clean despite the marks, Repeated washes will gradually reduce these marks.

Care and Launching
A warm rinse is often enough for day-to-day use.

To ensure your e-cloths perform at their best, we recommend machine washing.  With certain new washing powders, you can was as low as 85 degrees F, however for best results with normal detergents, wash at 140 degrees F.  For a full clean or if the cloth loses performance, it may be washed at 200 degrees, or boiled in a saucepan.

Use only a small amount of detergent and rinse well.  Tumble or hang dry.

DO NOT use bleach or fabric softener.  Bleach breaks down the fibers and fabric softeners will block the fibers.  If fabric softener is used by mistake, rewash with a little detergent.

Note:  Color may run, initial washes should be separate at low temperature.  For washing machines, a laundry bag is recommended.

E-cloth and your Health: Cleaning chemicals can be harmful to your health and damage the enviroment. Using e-cloths with just water can reduce health risks to your family, escpecially those who may suffer from allergies, asthma and chemical sensitivities.
