About RidgeCrest Herbals
RidgeCrest Herbals, Inc. (RidgeCrest), a Utah corporation, has deep roots in the natural products industry. Started in 1986 as Creative Marketing, a consulting and telemarketing company, over the years it evolved into a manufacturer and distributor of over-the-counter (OTC) herbal medicines and other herbal formulations, sold primarily to natural healing professionals (chiropractors, midwives, and naturopaths). But in 1994, after foundering in the professional market, new management and capital came into the company, the company was launched in a new direction, and the company was reincorporated in its present form. To reflect the changes in function of the company, the name was changed to Ridgecrest Herbals in 1996.
Clyde StClair was one of the new founders of the company. In 1994, Clyde had over 30 years experience in supplement manufacturing, wholesaling, and retailing. At that time, he was working as a consultant to a California company that had acquired Creative Marketing’s line of herbal remedies. This herbal products division was losing money, and Clyde was hired to help evaluate the company’s options. Clyde realized that the product line had little hope in the professional market, which was small and fragmented, but might have a better chance in health food stores. But the change would require a complete overhaul of the product line and marketing channels, and the existing company had no stomach for that kind of risk. He needed an experienced partner to help him accomplish the plan.
Paul Warnock, the other new founder, was consulting with the same California company, with a 30-year background in corporate finance, accounting, and operations, especially corporate turnarounds. Clyde and Paul made an offer to purchase the problem product line and retool it for the health food market, and their offer was gratefully accepted. Together they founded RidgeCrest Herbals in 1994, with Clyde handling the marketing, and Paul managing the operations and accounting.
By 1998, RidgeCrest Herbals had established ClearLungs as the best-selling natural lung product in the US market, and a number of other products were also category leaders. But in 2001, a series of health problems caused the two partners to withdraw somewhat from the business, and they brought in an outside sales management firm, and Paul’s son Matt as Chief Operations Officer. In 2003, Matt became VP of Marketing as well as COO, and he was appointed President in 2005. Matt and Paul bought out Clyde’s interest in 2007, and Clyde passed away from Parkinson’s disease in 2010.
Since 2005, the company has consistently grown its product line and revenues, moving to a new facility with room for more expansion in 2009. Ridgecrest owns all rights to the formulas and trade names. All manufacturing is done in the United States, to our specifications, by highly qualified contract manufacturers.
