To quote a major retail buyer..."This is the BEST tasting Protein Bar I have ever tasted!"

They didn't have the heart to tell him it was a brownie.

    All Natural
Eating All Natural just seems to make sense. Think about it; if you had to choose between eating chemicals and other artificial ingredients versus eating all natural ingredients, where is the dilemma? With over 3000 preservatives and additives available, we know it is almost impossible to completely avoid artificial this, preservative that, but you have to start somewhere. Why not start with All Natural snacks? Since we are a society that is always on the go, and we are always looking to grab a quick fix for energy or a meal replacement, choosing All Natural snacks is a great way to satisfy these needs. Almost all foods are processed in some way, but that doesn’t make them all bad. Canning fruits and vegetables is a process, salt goes through a process, sugar goes through a process, wheat from the field to become bread is a process but all of these can be All Natural. Unless you are growing all of your own foods, starting with organic soil, most all foods go through some processing. Lenny & Larry's could have easily taken shortcuts to produce their products like using preservatives, hydrolyzed gelatin or collagen, sugar alcohols and more, but they made a conscious choice very early on to stay with All Natural ingredients. Make good choices in life, starting with eating All Natural.

    Why Protein?
Lenny & Larry knew in the early 90's that people didn't get enough protein in their daily nutritional plans. Lenny & Larry also knew not everyone was a 'bodybuilder in training' and consuming massive amounts of protein so you can be bigger than the person beside you, wasn't for most people. True bodybuilders represent a small segment of the population but they are amazing athletes and their hard work is second to none. Bodybuilders and hardcore endurance athletes definitely need more protein than most Americans to help muscle growth and repair tissues broken down in training.

People from all walks of life; teachers, construction workers, office athletes, kids, computer programmers and the superior aged folks still need added protein. Did you know that proteins are the essential building blocks for muscles, hair, skin, nails, blood and internal organs? Did you also know that proteins help build the cardiac muscle (heart)? Our bodies need protein to maintain our cells, tissues and organs. A lack of protein in our daily nutritional plans can result in slow growth, reduced muscle mass, lower immunity, and weaken the heart and respiratory system. Next to water, protein is mainly what your body is comprised of. It just makes sense to eat more protein. How much protein do you need? No matter what anyone tells you, it depends on YOU!

    No Sugar Alcohol, ever.
If your protein bar of choice is loaded with sugar alcohols, then re-think that bar. Most people don’t even know what sugar alcohols are. Sugar alcohols are neither sugars nor alcohols. What are sugar alcohols? A sugar alcohol (also known as a polyol, polyhydric alcohol, or polyalcohol) is a hydrogenated form of carbohydrate, whose carbonyl group (aldehyde or ketone, reducing sugar) has been reduced to a primary or secondary hydroxyl group (hence the alcohol). Sugar alcohols have the general formula H (HCHO) n+1H, whereas sugars have H (HCHO)nHCO. In commercial foodstuffs sugar alcohols are commonly used in place of table sugar (sucrose), often in combination with high intensity artificial sweeteners to counter the low sweetness.

Now, the definition above is great for understanding the scientific meaning of sugar alcohols but what does all that information mean?  It means by using sugar alcohols in protein bars, you can still get the sweetness of sugar with approximately only ½ the calories of real sugar. Sound good? Well, if you enjoy bloating, diarrhea and flatulence, then we say stick with your protein bar. An over consumption of sugar alcohols, like many other incompletely digestible substances, can cause bloating, diarrhea and flatulence because they are not absorbed in the small intestine “The American Dietetic Association advises that greater than 50g/day of sorbitol or greater than 20g/day of mannitol may cause diarrhea.” The most commonly used sugar alcohols include sorbitol, mannitol, xylitol, maltitol, maltitol syrup, lactitol, erythritol, isomalt and hydrogenated starch hydrolysates. Recognize any of these from your protein bar? Does your protein bar carry a disclaimer that says “may cause gastrointestinal discomfort?” We hope not. Using sugar alcohols in protein bars also lets a company make a cheaper product, allows them to list lower carbs or lower sugar and then they add maltitol syrup and hydrolyzed collagen…yummy!

    They're Good For You
People often ask "Why are Lenny & Larry's products so good?" If we had to point to one thing; Lenny & Larry's snacks have always been All Natural. Lenny & Larry's feels using only All Natural ingredients separates them from everyone else. Many companies use sugar alcohols to sweeten their products and to help lower calories, carbohydrates and costs; they use chemicals to preserve their products; they use inferior proteins such as hydrolyzed collagen, which is a protein derived from the skin and bones of pigs, cows and fish. Yuck! Shouldn't the product inside the package taste better than the package it comes in? Lenny & Larry's thinks so.They release no product before its time. When they launch a new snack, they have typically spent a minimum of one year in developing and testing. With Lenny & Larry's snacks, you can taste the difference.

    Lenny & Larry Culture
Lenny & Larry's is like a family. They don't have employees, they have team members. No one punches a clock here because they all love what they do and they think it shows in our great tasting, healthy snacks. Every company has a mission statement and Lenny & Larry's is no different. They got together with their team and asked one question; What does Lenny & Larry's represent? They collectively yelled out...FUN! So, here is their mission statement; It is the mission of Lenny & Larry's to become the leader in the healthy snack foods market by creating great tasting, high quality, all natural products with added health benefits that make you happy when you eat them. They make healthy snacking fun!

    Company History
Lenny & Larry's began in 1993. One day while having coffee after a morning workout at Gold's Gym in Venice, California, two friends had the crazy idea of putting protein in muffins. Combining a fitness background with an interest in nutritional baked goods and promotional fun, former American Gladiator (“CYCLONE”) and good friend, decided to create and market high protein muffins, cookies and other all natural baked goods. After months of planning they came up with some great tasting, healthy products and 'their guaranteed to make you smile logo.' Guess What? Everyone loved it and away they went! After 15 years, they continue to make the best tasting, healthy snacks on the market. We believe the product should taste better than the package it comes in. As executives with a hands on philosophy, the principals of Lenny & Larry's take an active role in the research and development as well as the sales of their successful product lines. Being family men and sports enthusiasts, they have set a company objective of creating and producing healthy baked goods for both young and old. Lenny & Larry's mission is to continue to create and distribute healthy baked goods as well as to encourage physical fitness and a healthy diet. They appreciate everyone’s loyal support. Let’s get healthy together!

    Private Label
Some of the largest specialty retailers, smoothie shops, coffee houses and more, have called on Lenny & Larry’s to create private label baked snacks for them. Private label (sometimes called co-manufacturing) is a great way for some companies to launch a brand, save money, take the guesswork out of research and development and not have the responsibility of actually manufacturing a product. We are happy to discuss opportunities with anyone. If we aren’t the right fit, we can usually point you in the right direction. We know what it is like to start a business and not have the resources or contacts to make it successful. We love to help people and we think it shows in how we conduct business.

I don't care if this is on sale, I would not eat it if it were free. Do NOT be fooled by the description "no high fructose corn syrup". It still contains corn syrup, which is just as bad, those sneaky bastards. I used to enjoy these whenever a brownie craving struck, feeling good about it until I found out it had CS in it! No wonder I still felt lousy after eating it, I thought it was all in my head! It's just as well, I guess; as a result of Lenny
