Diaper Info

Your baby's skin is different from yours. A touch is all it takes to know your baby's skin is more delicate than yours. It's softer, brand new and can be easily irritated, especially when it spends so much time in a diaper. Seventh Generation diapers are free of petroleum based lotions and fragrances so your baby's skin doesn't come into contact with these chemicals. Their philosophy is that the products you buy for your family and your home should work without ingredients of concern.

Seventh Generation Free & Clear Baby Diapers have a core made with unbleached absorbent fluff* - which is proven to perform as well as bleached fluff. By using a diaper with a core that is not bleached with chlorine containing chemicals, you can save 78,000 lbs of toxic chlorinated compounds from entering air, lakes and streams per year.

*when comparing Seventh Generation Free & Clear Diapers with a TCF Bleached core to a Seventh Generation diaper with an unbleached core.

Did you know that disposable diapers - even leading brands - are made from mostly plastic and/or trees (wood pulp fluff)? Healthy forests are much more than a collection of trees - they are habitats, nutrients, purifiers and livelihoods. Seventh Generation is the first and only brand in North America to use Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified absorbent fluff material in their diapers. This responsibly sourced fluff absorbs just like the conventional stuff and helps protect natural areas for the benefit of all who depend upon them.

Did You Know?
If every household in the U.S. replaced just one bottle of 25 oz. petroleum-based dish liquid with Seventh Generation's 25 oz. plant-derived product, we could save 127,000 barrels of oil, enough to heat and cool 7,300 U.S. homes for a year!

Restore The Environment
Restore is the next reduce, reuse, recycle. Seventh Generation is working to ensure that their products have a circular lifecycle, meaning natural resources are being used and renewed at a rate that is always below their rate of depletion.

Inspire Conscious Consumption
Seventh Generation's focus is to inspire thoughtful consideration of each purchase—from the immediate impact of the products you buy (Is it safe? Is it gentle on the earth? Does it work?), to the broader impact throughout their lifecycle.

Create A Just and Equitable World
Seventh Generation is committed to making sure that everyone their company interacts with—from the farmers who grow their lavender to the customers who use their products—are treated fairly and with respect.

Systems Thinking
As suggested by The Great Law of the Iroquois, Seventh Generation strives to act with the knowledge that their business belongs to a larger system in which everything is interconnected, and that everything they do affects everything else.

Radical Transparency
Seventh Generation believes that the best way to ensure that they live up to their aspirations is to be completely transparent about their business and product practices. You should expect to see all of Seventh Generation's values and principles in everything they make, say, and do. It’s really that simple.

Influence Beyond Their Size
Seventh Generation is determined to inspire others through innovation, education, and interaction. Seventh Generation proudly donates 10% of their profits to support organizations that work for positive change.

Ingredients + Science

"We've learned a lot over the past 25 years, and some of our greatest teachers have been plants."

Seventh Generation formulates using the precautionary principle: if an ingredient has a suspected risk of causing harm to the public or to the environment, they don't use it.

Three cheers for plant power! Seventh Generation products, made with plant-based ingredients, are super effective yet designed to be gentle.

Green chemistry is more than innovative. It can truly help clean up and protect our world.

Are Your Products Kosher Certified For Passover?
Seventh Generation products are Kosher Pareve. Pareve indicates that the product does not contain meat or milk or their derivatives.

Many of their products are kosher certified for Passover and year-round use. This includes their Laundry products (except Fabric Softener Sheets) and Household Cleaners (except Disinfecting Cleaners), their Dishwashing products and most Hand Washes are kosher certified for Passover and year-round use. Their Disinfecting Cleaners, Fabric Softener Sheets and Baby Personal Care products are not kosher certified.

The certifying organization Seventh Generation uses is the Orthodox Union. Their certification symbol is the letter U in a circle. This symbol can be found on the label of  Seventh Generation products that are kosher.

Are Seventh Generation Products Vegan, Or Vegan-Friendly?
Yes, all Seventh Generation products are free of animal products, and are vegan. In addition, their products are not tested on animals. Seventh Generation is vegan-friendly!

Do Seventh Generation Products Contain Nonyl Phenoxy Ethoxylate (NPE)? What Is NPE? Are There Safety Concerns About NPE?
No, Seventh Generation products do not contain NPE.

NPE stands for Nonyl Phenoxy Ethoxylate. NPE is a synthetic (petroleum-derived) nonionic surfactant (cleaning agent) used in cleaning products. Common applications include laundry liquid detergents and hard surface cleaners (spray cleaners and dilutable cleaners.)

NPE has been determined to be estrogenic. That is, it can mimic the hormone estrogen. In laboratory studies, exposure to NPE has resulted in hermaphroditic (fish with both male and female sexual organs). [1] There is also experimental evidence that NPE reduces sperm counts in rats.

Do You Use Sustainable Palm Oil?
Seventh Generation announced that they have become the first company in their industry in North America to purchase sustainable palm kernel oil certification credits to offset company wide use of the ingredient across its entire product line. By purchasing the credits, Seventh Generation is paying a premium to palm kernel oil producers that use more environmentally responsible practices to produce and harvest palm kernel oil. This credit purchase is an important first step in creating a segregated sustainable palm kernel oil supply chain used in Seventh Generation products.

Does Seventh Generation Have Gluten In Their Cleaning Products?
No. Seventh Generation has implemented a testing program to verify their cleaning and personal care product formulations are gluten-free.

What Does “Biodegradable Formula” Mean To Seventh Generation?
Technically speaking, this means the formula and each of its carbon containing ingredients will rapidly decompose into simple, non-toxic substances in 28 days or less.

About Seventh Generation

Making a Difference
Seventh Generation believes their products are healthy solutions for the air, surfaces, fabrics, pets and people within your home–and for the community and environment outside of it. As a pioneer in corporate responsibility, they want their products to make a difference—from their development through to their production, purchase, use, and disposal.  Seventh Generation is always evaluating how to reduce their environmental impact, increase performance and safety, and create a more sustainable supply chain. They believe it is their responsibility to set a course for a more mindful way of doing business, where companies act as partners with other stakeholders to create a brighter future for the whole planet.

John Replogle (rep-luh-gul) joined Seventh Generation in March of 2011. He comes to Seventh Generation from Burt’s Bees, the leading Earth-friendly, natural personal care products company, where he served starting in January 2006 as President and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to Burt’s Bees, John spent three years at Unilever, where he managed the skin care division and helped to launch the Real Beauty campaign for Dove and establish the Dove Self-Esteem Fund.

John’s commitment to conscious consumerism and the triple bottom line factored heavily into his decision to join the Seventh Generation team.

Business is one of the most powerful instruments for meaningful change on our planet.  I believe we’ve only just begun to explore the possibilities inherent in our products, our mission, and ourselves. It will be a privilege to build on Seventh Generation’s 23-year legacy and commitment to the Great Law of the Iroquois Confederacy:  In our every deliberation, we must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations.”

An avid outdoorsman, John will be right at home among the lakes, hills, and hiking trails of the Green Mountain State.  In fact, his new role at Seventh Generation marks a return to his New England roots where he was raised and educated—first at Dartmouth College, where he earned a B.A. in History, and later, as an MBA student and graduate of Harvard Business School.

A father of four, John and his wife Kristin count Seventh Generation liquid laundry detergent among their favorite products.

Place diaper under baby with tabs in back. Pull front diaper up to navel. Attach tab from back panel to special taping surface on front of diaper.

Disposing of disposables: Before you throw away a used diaper, empty the contents into the toilet, wrap the diaper tightly and throw into the garbage. Do not flush the diaper.

What is put inside: unbleached wood fluff pulp, sodium polyacrylate (absorbent pad), polypropylene (core wrap, liner layer, cuff, moisture barrier layer, fastening system, outer layer), adhesives (seams and joints), polymer spandex (fastening system and leg elastic), polyurethane (waist elastic), pigments*.

*The color of disposable diapers is typically achieved through the addition of pigments. This is also true for the brown layered materials in Seventh Generation diapers.

Diaper safety information: Please keep this packaging away from children and babies. This package, or a torn piece of diaper, could cause a choking or suffocation hazard for your child. Like any piece of clothing, diapers are flammable.
