    Frequently Asked Questions

There are no suds in my washing machine, and the detergent doesn't seem thick like conventional detergents. Are my clothes really getting cleaned?
Their detergent is a low-sudsing formula and in hard water, is not very sudsy. Suds and viscosity do not affect the efficacy of the detergent. Suds can also leave residue on clothing as well as contribute to the breakdown of the washing machine.

I have a nut allergy in my household. Can I still use your laundry detergent?
Yes, for 2 reasons. First, coconut is not a true nut but is actually a fruit. Allergic reactions to coconut are extremely rare and are usually related to ingestion and not contact. Second, although they use coconut oil in their laundry detergent, the oil is saponified, so the actual oil no longer remains in solution.

Can their detergent be used on/in...
Generally, if the article of clothing you need to clean is safe for use in a standard washing machine with standard detergents, then it is fine for use with their detergents.

To hand wash Synthetic Wigs? No. Wigs are treated with a certain chemical to help hold the style of the wig. Their product can actually cause the wig to relax and not hold its style.

Flokati Wool - Their detergent can wash this material, it is suggested to put the cycle on delicate and only use half of the suggested detergent amount. Their mild soap is perfect for this material being "natural."

Waterproof materials - Yes. Their detergent is safe to use on waterproof materials. Please follow the washing instructions on the garment.

Laundry tip: Using a tablespoon of table salt or sea salt will help stabilize colors.

Is this detergent safe for grey water?
Greywater is wastewater generated from domestic activities such as laundry, dish washing, and bathing, which can be recycled on-site for uses such as landscape irrigation and constructed wetlands. Greywater differs from water from the toilets which is designated sewage or blackwater to indicate it contains human wastes.

When Greywater is used for irrigation, you have to consider what contaminants are present from both the laundry detergent and the fabrics being washed. GO by greenshield organic laundry detergents primarily contain USDA Certified components and are therefore biodegradable by nature. The primary component that needs to considered is the salt. High levels of salt can be detrimental to plants. Fortunately, when used as directed at 1 to 2 ounces per load, the salt content from their detergents will not exceed 0.018 grams for HE Washers and 0.005 grams for standard washers. This salt content is well within potable levels. Therefore, the laundry getergents are compatible with Greywater systems.

Does your detergent contain water softeners?
Their laundry detergent contains sea salt, which acts as a natural water softener.

Will your detergent cause a build-up of ingredients on the fabric that will cause issues with my garments later?

No. Their detergent is based heavily on salts that are soluble in water and do not enter into the fiber of the clothing like other synthetic chemicals will.

Since their detergent does not contain "optical brighteners," does that mean my dark colors will fade?
No. The lack of optical brighteners will help keep your dark colors from fading.

Why GO by greenshield organic ?
It's plain and simple: They offer an organic story, not just a "natural" story. To be certified organic by the USDA, their ingredient contents must meet the NOP (National Organic Program) standards for 95% or higher organic ingredient content (the same as Organic Milk or Organic Produce). As USDA Certified Organic product, their detergents and cleaners must adhere to stringent government guidelines all the way from the sourcing of their ingredients to the manufacture of their cleaners. On the other hand, "natural" is not a regulated term. "Natural" is not equated with any government standards like organic is on food, crops, food processing products, health and beauty products, and home supplies with the USDA. "Natural" is important, but not as crucial as organic. There is no mistaking what organic means while "natural" is a very undefined term. Along with being USDA Certified Organic, they disclose every ingredient on every label. They promise to use Zero GMOs, Zero Synthetic Preservatives, and Zero Harsh Chemicals when producing GO by greenshield organic cleaning products.

    About GO by greenshield organic

GO by greenshield organic , a division of Greenology Products, Inc. was created by a dad on a mission to protect families from the harmful chemicals found in most cleaning products. Under their GO by greenshield organic brand, they manufacture the leading line of USDA Certified Organic Laundry Detergents, Spray, and Specialty Cleaners in the country. They are on a mission to make healthy cleaning products that perform and are available at competitive prices, while also manufacturing in the USA!

Greenology is the Science of Environmentally Safe Cleaning. Their chemistry can trace it's origins to the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska. Sea Otters, Harbor Seals, Birds & other Wild Life were cleaned with their safe, oil removing chemistries. Motivated by those brief moments of ecological success, today, they are an even more determined company, focused on raising the bar of standards in their industry.

Their Mission is to provide your family, friends, coworkers, customers, and future generations with a clean living environment and good indoor air quality. They do this by providing you with products that are made with the utmost concern and consideration for people, pets and our precious planet.

They have created an expansive and growing collection of products that are organically produced; because organic production demands the highest standards and they require their chemistry team to meet those standards.
GreenShield's goal is to deliver high performance, safe products that effectively clean while minimizing or eliminating negative environmental impacts.

Their sustainability promise toward maintaining a sustainable environment means that they will, whenever possible, eliminate any risk of ecological erosion. This includes using organically grown ingredients, ensuring biodegradability, using recycled packaging and creating smaller packaging footprints, as often as possible.

With their "Born Free Of" Promise, you can always feel safe that the products you use contain no harsh chemicals. So go ahead and clean with confidence knowing that greenshield does not allow the following in their USDA Certified Organic cleaners and detergents:

    • Ammonia
    • Animal By-Products (and they never test on animals!)
    • Butyl Cellosolve
    • Chlorine
    • Ethylene Glycol
    • GMOs
    • Methylisothiazolinone
    • Parabens
    • Petroleum-Based Materials
    • Phenols
    • Phosphates
    • Phthalates
    • Propylene Glycol
    • Sodium Laureth Sulfate
    • Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
    • Synthetic Preservatives
Most traditional detergents and cleaners, and even some "green" ones, are loaded with artificial and potentially toxic chemicals like methylisothiazolinone, chlorine, phosphates, parabens, and sodium laureth (and lauryl) sulfate. Many of these ingredients have been found to cause allergic reactions and have also been linked to a variety of persistent health issues. You won't find any of those questionable ingredients in these detergents. And to make sure you know what you're getting in every bottle, they list every ingredient they use, right down to salt. When it comes to their detergent, one thing that makes noticeably different is that their detergents don't produce the billow of bubbles that you are likely used to from more traditional detergents. In fact, you won't see many bubbles at all. This is due to the fact that they don't use any of the chemical surfactants or additives that are responsible for those bubbles in their detergents. But don't worry! The belief that Suds = Clean is really just a myth. In reality, suds and bubbles actually hold onto dirt and grime and redeposit it back onto your fabrics at the end of the wash cycle. All those bubbles can also lead to build-up in your machine, causing it to break down and need maintenance more often.

You don't have to worry about harmful chemicals lingering in your water, soil, or air when you use greenshield products because there are none in their ingredients. No abrasive and toxic chemicals remain in the air or on your surfaces when your use their spray cleaners, and all detergents and cleaners are safe for greywater systems as well as naturally-occurring groundwater resources. You can feel at ease using their products with children and pets nearby. In addition to safe, non-toxic ingredients inside the bottles, the bottles themselves are made using renewable and sustainable sugar cane which is a carbon-negative plant.

GO by greenshield organic detergents and cleaners are like nothing you've used before because there is nothing else like them. And, once you try them and enjoy their safer, smarter, healthier clean, you'll see what you've been missing.

    GO by greenshield organic

One day, a dad named Adam decided to dig deeper into chore time. After taking a closer look at the ingredient labels on his family’s conventional cleaners, he realized there was a bigger mess on their hands than just dish duty. Conventional cleaners may be good on grime, but are all of the chemicals in them safe for us and the environment? Recognizing the need for a “cleaner” clean, go by greenshield organic was born, introducing the first line of USDA Certified Organic household cleaners in the U.S.A. GO by greenshield organic household cleaners and laundry detergents are made with simple, sustainable, and wholesome ingredients to protect the people and planet we love from harmful chemicals.

Good.  Clean.  Honest.  Three simple words with a whole lot of meaning. In 2009 we decided to reinvent the way the world sees clean with a progressive and forward-thinking line of certified organic household cleaners and detergents–the first of their kind in the U.S.A. The cleaning power you’d expect, made with good ingredients to protect the people and planet we love, all packaged inside sustainable sugarcane bottles. Because simply put, life is best lived good, clean, and honest.

Another great Greenshield product! We keep this in the kitchen to clean up the table after meals. We also use it to clean up messes on the floor, counters, the messy stovetop, etc. It works really well! Since it's not riddled with harsh chemicals or faux fragrances, I don't worry about my kid cleaning up with it.
