Many believe aromatherapy is mysterious, but in fact, it's a very easy-to-understand-albeit fascinating-science. Simply put, aromatherapy is the therapeutic use of pure plant essential oils to bring well-being to both mind and body.
It Begins With Essential Oils
Essential oils are the very heart of every flower, fruit, herb, resin, tree and spice on earth. Highly concentrated and extraordinarily fragrant, they're extracted from the cells of the plants through a process known as steam distillation. The essential oils or pure plant aromas that remain are 100 times more concentrated than the original fragrance of the fresh plant.
It Works Naturally
When we smell essential oils, we register the scent in the limbic system-the part of our brains where memories are stored, emotions are processed, and moods are stimulated. That's why we all have such personal connections to certain scents: when we come in contact with an aroma, our subconscious receives and reacts to it before we are even aware of it. The fragrances of some essential oils automatically encourage us to relax. Others make us feel more energized. Still others leave us calm and comforted. Best of all, essential oils have antiseptic, antiviral and antibacterial qualities that make them as good for our bodies as they are for our spirits.
It's Been Around For A Long, Long Time
Aromatic medicine was an important part of Egyptian culture more than six thousand years ago. In India, cinnamon, ginger, myrrh and sandalwood essential oils are mentioned in the Vedas-an Ayurvedic text dating from 2,000 B.C. In 1928, Rene Gattefosse, a French chemist, became fascinated with the therapeutic properties of essential oils after lavender oil healed his hand, which he had burned severely. His research, and subsequent book, Aromatherapy, has helped us refine our understanding of this ancient art, today. It is clear that every culture and every generation has innately understood that pure essential oils make us feel healthier, happier, and more balanced, and leave us with a sense of well-being that only Nature could provide.
Aroma Naturals makes scents ...
After 20 years of pioneering the world of eco-candles, they are thrilled to announce that they are under new ownership - but not new to the world of natural products.
Their new team is a blend of ground-breaking product development innovators from the natural and organic health & beauty industry, melted together with the best talent from Aroma Naturals.
An original leader
From the very beginning they gathered the purest essential oils from around the world and the most natural waxes. Then they chose highly knowledgeable aromatherapists and sought out the most creative, artisan candle makers. In order to deliver the quality that is paramount to Aroma Naturals mission, they decided that their candles needed to be hand-crafted in small batches for freshness and integrity. 20 years later, they still make them that way!
Aroma Naturals Story
As do so many good things, Aroma Naturals began in a kitchen. At the time, all they wanted to do was create an aromatherapeutic candle that was truly and completely natural-something.
So they searched the globe for pure plant aromas and essential oils that were harvested at their peak to ensure freshness. They sourced environmentally kind lead-free wicks, and all-natural vegetable and soy waxes that burn clean and true.
A lot of things have changed since they created their first Aroma Naturals candle in their kitchen, but a lot of things have remained the same. Their mission now is the same as it was then: to enhance well-being and encourage a healthy lifestyle through the use of natural plant and flower aromas.
And even though we're quite a bit larger than they were back then, they still carefully source all of their pure essential oils, and custom blend them by hand in small batches in order to assure their authenticity, integrity and freshness. While most of their competitors are still adding synthetic fragrances to their candles and claiming to be natural, Aroma Naturals candles use 100% pure plant aromas and natural vegetable waxes that are as good for the environment as they are for you.
As committed as they are to growing and innovating, there's no telling where we'll be in the future, but one thing is certain: we'll still be making beautiful candles from 100% plant-derived ingredients using time-honored techniques and eco-friendly packaging. For us, change is always in the air, but they promise it will always be change for the better.
Aroma Naturals Commitment
Here at Aroma Naturals, you'll often hear us say that it's not easy being green but it's certainly worth the effort. They're 100% committed to making sure each and every one of their candles is good for both you and the environment. It's a commitment that takes quite a bit of time, thoughtfulness and research on their part, but they think it's worth it. And as they continually strive to make the finest all-natural candles on earth, they always look to their guiding principles to light the way.
