- Crunchies are a healthy, convenient preservative-free snack food. Fruits can be eaten as a snack, or put in hot or cold cereal, yogurt, or pancake and waffle batter. Veggies can be eaten as a snack or sprinkled over your salads for added vitamins and nutrients!
- Fresh fruits and veggies are harvested and frozen within 24 hours, and then through a refrigerated, cooling process, are freeze dried at the packing facilities.
- 97% of the moisture is removed, while maintaining 94% of the nutrient and enzyme level of the whole fruit. Only about 44% of the water is removed from dried fruit, and the heat process destroys the nutrients and enzymes.
- They only use Grade A fruit, all grown in America. All their competitors import their fruit from Foreign Countries. In a taste testing you will immediately notice the difference!
- Pineapples and Mangoes are grown in South America, all other fruits and vegetables are grown in United States.

What are Crunchies?
Crunchies are freeze-dried fruits and vegetables. There is nothing added to these products – no added sugar, sulphur, fat or preservatives.
How are Crunchies made?
Crunchies are created by placing frozen fruits or vegetables in a refrigerated vacuum chamber which removes up to 97% of the moisture. What’s left is a product that retains virtually all of its nutrients and enzymes (unlike heat-drying), while maintaining its shape, intensifying its flavor and making it crispy & crunchy.
Are they wheat & gluten free? Are they considered a raw food?
These products are wheat and gluten free. And while all of fruits are considered raw, all frozen vegetables are flash-blanched within a few hours after picking. This stops the deterioration of the enzymes and nutrients (and it preserves color) so they are not considered raw. Unless fruits and vegetables are eaten shortly after picking, freeze-dried fruits and vegetables are typically more nutritious than fresh produce.

The Crunchies crew is constantly experimenting with new ingredients and ways to make our foods more interesting and taste better. They were the first company to develop and market fire-roasted freeze-dried products and the first to carry freeze-dried Edamame (sweet soybeans). And they were also the first company to come out with a comprehensive organic freeze-dried line (and more on the way). In fact, they developed the first organic puff-dried carrot in the world. They like to create innovative foods because they like to eat, just like everybody else.
And like everyone else they are consumers, so they know what they like to look for in a product. When they were designing their packaging they wanted to make sure that it was not only practical and aesthetically pleasing but also showed off their product, so they left a clear window on the bags, which are decorated by a colorful pastoral scene (painted for us by a friend of the hills just north of Santa Barbara, California). They included a ‘best by’ date instead of a code, so consumers would know that the product was fresh. Also, all of their products are certified to be made from non-genetically modified ingredients (non-GMO’s). And their organic certifier was accepted in the first round of certifiers accredited by the USDA for the new national organic standards.
