UVSunSense Wristband for Kids and Adults - 5 Wristbands

UV Sun Sense Wristbands monitor UV exposure by changing color to reflect your level of exposure to the sun. UVSunSense Wristbands are dermatologist recommended for kids and adults. The UVSunSense wristband is engineered to be used in conjunction with a sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher to alert you to potential excessive exposure as you work or play in the sun. According to the American Cancer Society, a sunburn will fade, but damage to deeper layers of skin remains and can eventually cause cancer. That’s why sun-safe habits should begin in childhood and last a lifetime. UVSunSense wristbands provide you with a simple sun-sensitive gauge through color change that alerts you when you need to reapply sunscreen and when to get out of the sun and its potential damaging effects.

Sun Safety...Safety for Children
Encouraging children to take simple precautions will prevent both short and long term sun damage while allowing them to enjoy their time outside.

  • Infants under 12 months should be kept in the shade.
  • Cover up children with hats, protective clothing and sunglasses.
  • Use a sunscreen with an appropriate SPF factor for each family member based on individual skin type.
  • Limit the time spent in the midday sun when the UV index is at its highest.
  • Monitor exposure to the sun using a UV monitor.

The Solar UV Index
The UV Index is a scale given to the level of UV radiation on a given day. It ranges from 0 to 20-the higher the index, the higher the potential for damage to the skin and eyes and the less time it takes for this damage to occur.

On Friday, May 20th, The Dr. Oz Show in a show entitled “24 Hours to Stop Aging”, Doctor Oz revealed for the first time, his “Hot List of Anti-Aging Products”. During this segment, the second product to be revealed is the UVSunSense UV Monitoring Wristband.

The UVSunSense UV Monitoring Wristband, when used in conjunction with a sunscreen with an SPF rating of 15 of higher, will alert the wearer to reapply their sunscreen, and more importantly when the wearer has collected enough of the Sun’s UVA and B rays for the day.

First shown in Dr Oz’s Healthy Tan Plan at the start of the last summer season, the UVSunSense UV Monitoring Wristband has now earned a place on the favorites list and its brand name will be revealed on this progressive nationally syndicated program. UVSunSense is very excited about this and wanted to let you.

How to use UVSunSense:

  1. Open the package, take out one band, and close the package immediately.
  2. Fasten the band around your wrist, with the printed side up.
  3. Apply sunscreen evenly over all areas of exposed skin and over the band.
  4. When exposed to sunlight, the band immediately turns bright purple to indicate it has been activated.
  5. When the band fades to light pink, it is recommended to reapply sunscreen on your body and on the band.
  6. When the band turns pale yellow, it is recommended to cover up or get out of the sun.

A partially-used band, when re-exposed to the sun, starts monitoring UV rays from the point it was at when you last took it out of the sunlight. Use only one band a day per person, and then discard it. The band is calibrated to work only with sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher.

Package contains 5 UVSunSense Wristbands. UVSunSense Wristbands are made using number 5 plastics (polypropylene) and can be recycled through many curbside programs.

This product does not contain a sunscreen and does not protect against sunburn. It is a guide used to monitor UV Exposure. Repeated exposure of unprotected skin to the sun may increase the risk of premature skin aging, skin cancer, and other harmful effects to the skin, even if no sunburn occurs. Sunburn is dangerous. Avoid prolonged sun exposure between 11am and 4pm. The use of a UV warning wristband combined with limiting sun exposure, wearing protective clothing, and using sunscreens may reduce the risks of sun exposure. Such protective measures cannot eliminate these risks altogether. Store in a dark place at room temperature.

I bought these on a whim and love them. It has helped teach my children about the harm that the sun can do to your skin and make them a lot more sunscreen aware. Now I don't need to worry as much when they go somewhere where the adults aren't as caucus because they will have their sun sense with them and do it on their own.
