60 Million Consumers Names Herbatint Long- Lasting, Safest Hair Dye
PARIS-60 Million Consumers, the French consumer testing organization, tested 15 well-known mass market and three natural hair dyes currently sold in Europe and the United States for performance and safety. Of the 18 tested, Herbatint was the only dye with an acceptable safety rating, in addition to being named fully acceptable for long-lasting natural color. Each product was evaluated for: potential irritation, sensitization, mutagenic risks, and carcinogen and reproductive toxins using the standards of the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (CSSC) of the European Union (EU). Based on toxicological profiles, Herbatint was the only hair dye judged first choice because it uses very few potentially sensitizing or toxic substances as well as providing very good color.

Best Choice Hair Color for Limited Risks
This hair dye was noted for the very naturalness of its color. The color and its long lastingness were judged fully acceptable. Moreover, it distinguishes itself from all its competitors, by its safer formulation based on the toxicological testing. It uses very few substances that can cause sensitivity or be toxic.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    What is Herbatint?
Herbatint is a permanent hair colourant gel with a natural herbal base that contains no ammonia, but will cover grey 100% and can lighten you hair up to 2 shades.

    Will Herbatint cover my grey?
Herbatint covers grey 100% on its first application. If you are 25% grey or more remember to mix your chosen fashion shade (gold, copper or mahogany) with the appropriate number from the natural series. For instance target shade 6D (Dark golden blonde) with 6N (Dark blonde). For 30% grey mix 1/3 6N with 2/3 6D. For 50% grey, or more mix ½ 6N with ½ 6D. Some grey hair can be particularly resistant.

I have had chemotherapy treatment and would like to color my hair.
Herbatint has many customers who have had cancers and have used the colorants quite safely. They would not recommend use of permanent colors in these cases, but if you are determined to color your hair it is far safer to use Herbatint as it contains no ammonia and deposits far less potentially hazardous substances into the blood system.

I am pregnant and I have been told that permanent hair colors can be potentially dangerous for my unborn child.
Again, as with cancer sufferers Herbatint would not recommend the use of permanent hair colors while pregnant. However, many of their customers do use the colors in these instances; Jane Leeves the actress from the T.V. programme 'Frazier' has openly claimed that her hairdresser used Herbatint on her hair while she was pregnant. no ammonia means far less of the product finds its way into the blood system.

Can I use Herbatint on my beard?
Herbatint is not recommended for use on facial hair, however, they do know many customers who use it very successfully for this purpose. Avoid swallowing any - it tastes disgusting! Do not use on eyebrows, or eyelashes.

I have had allergic reactions to ammonia tints in the past; will I react to Herbatint?
In practice, they have found that approximately 85% of people who have reacted in the past do not react to Herbatint. With no ammonia present very little of the product penetrates the epidermis and consequently does not enter the blood system. However, they still strongly advise performing a skin test prior to tinting your hair. A small number of people have allergic reactions to all kinds of substances.

Herbatint is the main brand of Antica Erboristeria and was founded in 1970 following a brilliant intuition of its founder, the herbalist Michele Albergo, who focused his research on a coloring formula that could combine product efficacy with hair and skin health. Thanks to his outstanding knowledge of medicinal herbs, starting from formulations based on herbal extracts, he progressively reduced the percentage of chemical ingredients, including hydrogen peroxide.
