Sweet relief from morning sickness.
Everidis Health Sciences B-Natal for Morning Sickness Green Apple is formulated to soothe the symptoms of morning sickness with doctor-recommended Vitamin B6. Available in a cherry-flavored TheraPop or a green apple lozenge, Everidis Health Sciences B-Natal for Morning Sickness Green Apple provides sweet relief without any pills to swallow or liquid to drink.

The birth of B-natal.
The idea for Everidis Health Sciences B-Natal for Morning Sickness Green Apple was born when Jennifer Cherry, President of Everidis Health Sciences, was unable to alleviate her own morning sickness with any of the products or home remedies suggested by her physician. Reluctant to use an anti-nausea prescription medication, she made it her business to develop a safe, effective treatment and directed her research team to find out all they could about the physiological causes of morning sickness.

After conducting their research, one thing became clear: Vitamin B6 is the only scientifically proven treatment that consistently works to alleviate the nausea and vomiting of morning sickness. Additionally, they found that sugar, especially in the form of hard candy, may also help to alleviate symptoms in some cases. Unfortunately, hard candy by itself doesn't work effectively, and a Vitamin B6 supplement in pill or liquid form is often a trigger for yet another round of nausea and vomiting. So, the team decided to combine the two—which, from a manufacturing point of view, is much easier said than done. But the team persevered, conquered the challenges and B-natal was born.

Today, B-natal is the only product of its kind—lollipop or lozenge—with clinically proven, efficacious amounts of B6, and just enough sugar to help alleviate symptoms and sweeten the taste. Safe, effective and delicious, you can be confident that B-natal is the right choice for both you and your baby.

The science behind B-natal.
In 2004, the leading academy of obstetricians and gynecologists issued guidance for physicians on the treatment of morning sickness. After reviewing the scientific literature, they concluded that the first defense against morning sickness is B6 in the form of pyridoxine.

The role B6 plays in alleviating the nausea and vomiting of morning sickness is poorly understood because the root cause of the condition is poorly understood. The two leading theories for the onset of morning sickness are: 1) hormonal changes and 2) lower blood sugar levels during pregnancy.  It is likely, however, that morning sickness results from a combination of factors.

Whatever the underlying cause, B6 as pyridoxine appears to be the most effective treatment available to reduce morning sickness symptoms. B6 is the most commonly studied treatment methodology and has been recommended by physicians since 1942. Additionally, supplementation of Vitamin B6 for expectant mothers may be necessary because many women suffer from B6 deficiency during pregnancy. A lack of Vitamin B6 has been linked to interference with protein absorption, the underutilization of amino acids and the presence of toxemia.

Vitamin B6 is found in a wide variety of foods, including fortified cereals, beans, meat, poultry, fish, and some fruits and vegetables. Other treatments, such as the use of ginger or antihistamine H1 receptor blockers, are, according to the academy, "based on limited or inconsistent evidence." Vitamin B6 is essential for good overall health, whether one is pregnant or not. It is a water-soluble vitamin that exists in three chemical forms: pyridoxine, pyridoxal and pyridoxamine.  All three forms have been studied extensively and have been shown to be essential for:

  • the synthesis of pyridoxal 5-phosphate, a cofactor of many essential enzymes
  • protein metabolism
  • red blood cell metabolism
  • nervous system function
  • immune function
  • the conversion of tryptophan (an amino acid) to niacin
  • the maintenance of normal blood glucose levels

Morning sickness facts.
Morning sickness. Afternoon sickness. Before dinner, middle of the night, anytime sickness. It's that "queasy, don't want to smell, taste or even look at food" feeling. And no one knows what causes it.  If you are suffering from the nausea and vomiting of morning sickness, you are not alone. There are approximately 6,000,000 pregnancies per year in the United States, and 50 - 85 percent of those expectant mothers experience morning sickness. That means three to five million women annually suffer from the nausea and vomiting associated with pregnancy.

Morning sickness usually begins during the 4th - 8th week of pregnancy and typically lasts through the 16th week. Although it is commonly known as "morning sickness," 80 percent of those exhibiting symptoms experience nausea that lasts all day.  For many women, morning sickness is an inconvenience that passes quickly. For others, however, it can interfere with family and work, and is, in fact, "second only to preterm labor as the most common reason for hospitalization during pregnancy."

Changes in hormone and/or glucose levels are suspected to be the primary causes of morning sickness, although many believe there are additional contributing factors as well. Treatment options are limited, and many women are reluctant to seek treatment at all, choosing instead to wait it out as a normal part of pregnancy.

In 2004, the leading academy of obstetricians and gynecologists issued guidance for physicians for the treatment of morning sickness.  After reviewing the data, the academy determined that B6 in the form of pyridoxine is the first line of defense and should be considered as the primary course of treatment. Additionally, the academy recommends that women take a multivitamin in the months leading up to conception, as there are indications that supplementation leads to a reduction in the occurrence of morning sickness symptoms.

Take one B-natal as needed to relieve morning sickness. Additional B-natals may be taken in eight-hour intervals. Do not exceed more than three B-natal TheraPops or lozenges in one 24-hour period.
