What Beet Juice is Best?
Lakewood Organic’s Beet Juice is made with fresh beets that are pressed. It’s not from concentrate. In every 32 fluid ounce bottle, you’ll get 4 cups of tasty vegetables. That’s almost twice as much as the USDA recommends per day and more than conventional, heavily processed brands from concentrate. The USDA says we should be consuming 2.5 cups of vegetables per day based on a 2,000 calorie diet. And, diets which are low in saturated fat and cholesterol may reduce the risk for heart disease. Lakewood Organic Beet Juice helps you achieve these nutritional goals deliciously and easily. Their beverages fit healthy lifestyles and diet plans, and they do not contain preservatives or added sugars. All you will experience is the delicious, fresh taste of organic lemons and nutritious beets!
Naturally Gluten Free with No Artificial Sweeteners
All Lakewood juices are naturally gluten free which makes them perfect for people who suffer from gluten sensitivity, intolerance, or Celiac’s. This means that only fresh fruits and vegetables are used in the recipes for Lakewood juices and no ingredients are derived from wheat, barley, rye, or crossbreeds of those grains. Also, you’ll never find any artificial sweeteners, preservatives, or additives in Lakewood Organic’s drinks and beverages. Most of their juices are vegan as well and do not contain any animal ingredients or by-products. The only juice on their product menu that is not vegan is the Lemon Ginger Echinacea which contains honey. Plus, if you have any allergy concerns, you can trust Lakewood to disclose the presence of the eight major allergens on their labels.
Independently Certified by QCS & Grown According to the National Organic Program
The beets and lemons in Lakewood Organic’s Pure Beet Juice are grown and harvested according to the strict requirements of the National Organic program. That means there are no synthetic fertilizers used, and no pesticides, herbicides, growth regulators, or any other kind of potentially harmful harsh chemicals. After harvesting, Lakewood Organic juices are fresh-pressed, pasteurized, and vacuum safety sealed in non-toxic, BPA-free, BPS-free, and DEHP-free glass bottles in facilities certified organic by QCS. Lakewood Organics takes great care to ensure the quality and purity of their juices.
Clean & Simple Ingredients in Lakewood Organic Juices
At every step, Lakewood Organics makes great effort to ensure the quality of everything that touches their manufacturing process - from nutrient-rich soil to non-toxic and eco-friendly weed and pest control, to the methods of bottling their fresh fruits and vegetables. They use fresh-pressing instead of harsher methods of juice extraction which can accelerate oxidation. The ingredients are clean and simple. The health and safety of Lakewood customers is the most important thing to them. In addition to the fruits and vegetables being grown in accordance with Non-GMO standards, Lakewood monitors their juice samples for heavy metals such as cadmium, mercury, arsenic, and lead. All Lakewood juices are tested, safe, and clean.
Are Lakewood Juices Pasteurized?
Lakewood does pasteurize all their juices. This sterilizes the beverages to make sure it is safe for consumption. But, it also improves the juices’ ability to maintain its freshness and quality. The pasteurization process involves treating the fresh juice with mild heat before bottling to kill pathogens and extend shelf life. All Lakewood juices are packaged without added preservatives. Check your juice’s “Best By” date which is only recommended for best flavor and quality. It’s not an expiration or safety date. The “Best By” date helps you know how long the juice will retain its optimal freshness. Once opened, bottles should be refrigerated and consumed within two weeks. A handy tip to extend the life of your Lakewood drink is to freeze the remainder of the juice into ice cubes or containers!

In fact, Lakewood pioneered the modern bottling technique of adding lemon juice to pure aloe. This technique protects the integrity of the aloe while retaining the maximum amount of natural polysaccharides… without using any preservatives.

Lakewood confirms that no animal products, derivatives, or animal by-products are used in any form in Lakewood organic fruit or vegetable juices- except for Lakewood Organic Lemon-Ginger Echinacea which contains honey. Lakewood concurs with The Vegan Society understanding - the word ‘animal’ refers to the entire Animal Kingdom, that is all (non-human) vertebrates and all multicellular invertebrates.
What is Biodynamic?
Biodynamic agriculture is a method of organic farming that emphasizes the holistic development and interrelationships of the soil, plants and animals as a self-sustaining system. One of the first modern ecological farming systems, it emphasizes a sustainable approach to agriculture. Biodynamic has much in common with other organic approaches – it emphasizes the use of manures and composts and excludes the use of artificial chemicals on soil and plants. Methods unique to the biodynamic approach include its treatment of animals, crops, and soil as a single ecosystem.
The principles of Biodynamic Agriculture were developed by Dr. Rudolf Steiner in Germany in 1924. Dr. Steiner is credited with establishing the fundamentals after being approached by a group of local farmers concerned with the rapidly deteriorating vitality of crop and animal health on their farms. Today, Biodynamic agriculture has grown into a worldwide system represented in more than 50 countries.
How much nutrition is lost during pasteurization of fruit and vegetable juices?
Almost none. Fruit and vegetable juices contain a wide range of Micro-Nutrients including Vitamins, Minerals and Amino Acids. The only nutrient that is sensitive to pasteurization is Vitamin C. Pasteurization will cause no more than a 10% loss in vitamin C. Note: A typical serving of fruit juice containing Vitamin C provides a substantial amount toward the recommended daily allowance for vitamin C. Therefore, a 10% loss of Vitamin C is of extremely minimal consequence while the benefits of pasteurization are substantial. Also note: The Nutrition Information stated on the bottle label is based upon analysis of the juice after pasteurization.
Occasionally some bottles of Lakewood juice will leave a stain on the inside of the bottle. Why does this happen?
During the manufacturing process of glass bottles, the interior of the bottle will occasionally remain slightly porous. When this occurs, color pigments (known as Anthocyanins) from the fruits or vegetables can become lodged in the microscopic pores of the glass, thus staining the inside of the bottle. There are no health concerns related to these products. In fact, the intense color pigmentation is indicative of a very high level of Anti-Oxidant activity. This staining could be controlled by the use of an artificial stabilizer- however, Lakewood chooses not to use artificial ingredients in their juices.
