What is FortiSalt?
FortiSalt is an innovative, new patent-pending liquid dietary supplement. FortiSalt is designed to nutritionally fortify food anywhere that table salt is desired. Unlike table salt, sea salts, or even salts marketed for their trace mineral content, Fortisalt is designed to introduce a balanced range of essential minerals and trace minerals on nutritionally significant amounts through food.
Why do I need FortiSalt?
Because we need trace elements. Most of our foods don't provide adequate levels of essential minerals and trace minerals. While vitamins are important, minerals serve as the foundation of our health. Minerals are needed for our bones (calcium and magnesium), muscle contraction, nerve conduction, etc. Minerals work closely with vitamins in numerous biochemical processes in the body. Unlike certain vitamins, humans are completely dependent on the foods they eat to provide essential minerals and trace minerals.
Unfortunately due to several factors (commercial farming, fertilization with NPK fertilizer, food processing techniques, over consumption of overly processed, energy-dense, nutrient-poor foods), many of the fruits, vegetables, meats, and dairy contain lower levels of minerals than they used to. This decline in nutrition has been documented in the United Kingdom and in the U.S. These factors compound wherein it's extremely difficult for most people to get the essential nutrients they need from foods.
How do I use FortiSalt?
FortiSalt is available in two sizes - a 8.5oz. (250ml) table and a 18.6oz. kitchen size. The table-size bottle contains a spray nozzle so you can spray FortiSalt directly onto your food and provides 50 servings. The kitchen size, which provides 110 servings, features a flip-top cap so you can easily measure and add FortiSalt to your favorite recipes.
But why is FortiSalt a liquid?
Salt originates from two places: it's either mined from the ancient sea beds - which is the form used in most common table salt products - or processed from sea water. Via the second method, using solar evaporation, seawater is concentrated until salt crystals form, which are then harvested, refined, processed and sold. Unfortunately, when harvesting salt crystals, many beneficial minerals precipitate out or they are viewed as 'impurities' and are deliberately processed out. The final result then is Sodium and Chloride. Even sea salts, which claim to contain higher amounts of potassium and trace elements, are still 98 to 99 percent Sodium Chloride.
While FortiSalt is a liquid, which may seem unusual to some, it contains a natural balance of sodium and chloride plus a beneficial balance of other essential minerals and trace minerals. While it may take some time to get accustomed to using a liquid salt versus a granule or flake, once you try FortiSalt and see for yourself how dramatically it improves the flavor of food, the liquid form won't seem so strange.
Another benefit of the liquid form is that unlike table or sea salts that you have to sprinkle on your food and/or recipe, FortiSalt applied directly on food results in an even distrobution of salt. How many times have you shaken table salt on your food and experienced 'spotty' or uneven salting which results in some portions of food being overly salty while other portions are under salted? FortiSalt's liquid form ensures a more even distribution os sodium plus - best of all - essential minerals and trace minerals, which will please your palate.
Can I cook and bake with FortiSalt?
Absolutely, FortiSalt enriches the flavor of your cooking and favorite recipes. FortiSalt, available in the kitchen-size bottle, which provides 110 services, has a flip-top cap, so you can easily measure, pour and use FortiSalt in your cooking. You can even use FortiSalt in your favorite canning recipes. The one limitation to how FortiSalt can be uses, though, is that the high magnesium and mineral content of FortiSalt will affect the viability of yeast, which when making leavened breads, will cause bread not to rise. Therefore, you will want to avoid using FortiSalt when making levened breads.
What are the equivalency ratios for FortiSalt and table salt?
That is, how much FortiSalt should I use to replace a normal measurement of table salt? Anderson's generally recommends that you replace one teaspoon of salt with three teaspoons of FortiSalt. Doing so not only boosts the amount of essential and beneficial minerals, but it also reduces the level of sodium in your recipe. However, taste is a matter of personal preference. Some people simply don’t crave sodium like others do or their palates are very sensitive to salt. So, you may want to experiment by gradually adding incremental measurements of FortiSalt to your favorite recipe until you find the right amount of FortiSalt suited for you.
Will heat, refrigeration, or cooking alter the mineral content of foods made with FortiSalt?
No, the minerals will not be harmed or altered by common food preparation methods - i.e., cooking, baking, refrigeration, etc.
Is FortiSalt safe to take with my medications?
As with any dietary supplement you take, check with your physician first - especially if you have a medical condition and/or are taking medications. Some individuals, especially those who have renal(kidney) problems (who are on dialysis), high blood pressure, or heart problems(those with high-grade atrioventricular blocks), should check with their doctor first. FortiSalt is not recommended for individuals who have been prescribed a low-sodium diet by their physician.
I have a medical condition... is FortiSalt safe?
For individuals with a serious medical condition, it is advisable to always check with your physician before taking a new dietary supplement. FortiSalt does provide nutritionally significant levels of magnesium, an essential mineral. For the small percentage of individuals who have renal failure, a high-grade AV (atrioventricular) block, or are following a low-sodium diet, please consult your doctor first.
Does FortiSalt contain Iodine?
Yes, one serving (one teaspoon or 8 full pumps using the sprayer) provide 15 micrograms of iodine, which translates to 17 percent of the Daily Value. Three services provide 75 mcg of iodine or 50 percent of the Daily Value for the essential trace mineral.
I take a mineral/colloidal mineral/trace mineral supplement, do I still need FortiSalt?
Maybe. You may find as you examine the label of your mineral supplement that you're not receiving the optimal level of trace elements even though you're taking a mineral supplement. FortiSalt is an easy, convenient, smart way to ensure you are providing your body with the essential minerals and trace minerals you need - besides it tastes great! FortiSalt provides nutritionally significant amounts of trace minerals in a highly absorbable liquid form. Plus, you may find that you no longer have to swallow a nasty tasting liquid or bulky capsule or tablet to obtain essential minerals and trace minerals. FortiSalt allows you to easily fortify the mineral nutrition in food as part of a healthier lifestyle.
Why are minerals so important?
Minerals are vital for life, health, and well being. Minerals forge our skeletal structure, they help keep our hearts beating, muscles functioning, and help transmit messages throughout the central nervous system. Your body relies on a steady intake of minerals each day. If we don’t receive the required amount of minerals, within a short time the body’s stores are depleted (mineral deficiency state), we feel rundown, lethargic, and may become vulnerable to a wide crossover of mineral deficiency effects. Minerals work in synergy with other minerals (calcium teams with magnesium and trace elements) and vitamins to perform their respective functions in health.
How do minerals and trace minerals work in the body?
Voluminous research has indicated that minerals and trace minerals are vital to our well being and are the key to abundant health and vitality. These elements work together—synergistically—along with vitamins, enzymes, and amino acids to maintain proper acid-base balance, water balance, muscle function, and nerve conduction. Once an ionic mineral is absorbed, it is carried via the bloodstream to the cells, transported across cell membranes and utilized by the body. The body has dynamic and very narrow needs for minerals, electrolytes, and trace minerals.
Which is more important minerals or vitamins?
Both are essential to human health. Every living cell depends on minerals and vitamins to form the proper composition of body fluids, to build bone, transmit nerve signals throughout the nervous system, etc. Both vitamins and minerals are interdependent on one another. However, vitamins and minerals work synergistically. What is important and what is truly unique and innovative about Anderson's Health Solute ions’ products is that they’ve combined multiple tiers of nutrition—minerals, trace minerals, vitamins, nutrient co-factors, etc.—into a tablet.
Are all minerals and trace minerals the same? What is the difference between “ionic” minerals and “colloidal?”
No, minerals and trace minerals are not the same. An ionic mineral is a charged element that, when broken down into solution, becomes either positively or negatively charged. In solution, ionic minerals work to find a netural balance by associating positive and negatives charges. As minerals pass through the small intestine, the body binds ionized elements and transfers them to the blood stream where they are then directed to the specific area(s) of the body requiring additional support. Colloidal minerals are those elements mined from ancient sea beds and vegetation. They are an aggregate of atoms suspended in a solution. As such, they cannot be easily assimilated by the body and do not conduct the body electrically.
I've noticed that some of Anderson's supplements contain herbs. Why?
One of the unique features of our products has always been the marriage or blending of multiple tiers of nutrition-i.e., minerals, vitamins, and herbs. Anderson's feels that this incorporation not only sets their formulas apart from other supplements, but provides unique benefits. Herbs can be very useful and have been used safely for thousands of years. There is a strong reliance on and tradition of using herbal remedies in asian cultures. Here in the United States, there is a similarly a tradition of the use of herbs among Native Americans and early settlers. The herbs that are found in Anderson's supplement formulas are carefully researched before they are added to their product.
How are the herbs sterilized that are in Anderson's formulas?
Many herbs are sterilized through means such as irradiation or the use of ethylene oxide or EtO as it is known. EtO is a substance often used to sterilize certain items that are not able to be sterilized via other methods. For instance, spices and herbs as well as medical devices are often sterilized with EtO. Anderson's is one of few companies in the industry to only purchase and use non irradiated herbs and non-ethylene oxide treated herbs in their formulas. Anderson's purchases herbs from vendors that have been sterilized via heat, steam or ozone sterilization techniques.
Can I take additional amounts of herbs even if they're contained in Anderson's formula?
Before taking any dietary supplement, it's recommended that you first check with your physician or health care provider-especially if you have a medical condition and/or are taking prescription medications. Herbs can interfere with certain medications and there are risks involved in taking high levels of herbs. Therfore, please review your supplement regimen with your physician and check with him or her before taking an herbal supplement-especially if it is an herb already provided in one of the Health Solute Ions formulas.
