Navitas Naturals Hemp Seeds - 8 oz. (227g)

Navitas Naturals Hemp Seeds is a protein rich super seed.  As one of the earliest foods to be used by humans, hemp seeds have long been recognized as an excellent source of energy. With a rich nutty flavor that is reminiscent of a sunflower seed, Navitas Naturals Hemp Seeds are pre-shelled, soft, and delicious. They can be eaten straight from the bag; sprinkled on top of vegetables, soups, yogurt, and cereals; mixed into baked recipes; or blended into a gourmet nut butter. This remarkable superfood is an excellent protein source – with eight grams of protein per 2 tablespoons– and contains all ten essential amino acids, making it a complete protein. Hemp also offers a perfect balance of Omega 3, 6, and 9 (the Essential Fatty Acids), and is a good source of magnesium, iron, zinc, and potassium.

Source and Processing
Their hempseeds are sourced from premium growers in Canada, where they are harvested and then hulled. Navitas Naturals Hemp Seeds are raw, kosher, gluten-free, vegan, and 100% organic.

Hemp (hemp) is a tall, coarse plant (Cannabis sativa L), that is native to Asia but naturalized or cultivated in many parts of the world. It is the source of a nutritious, edible seed (hemp seed).

Ideal Food Source
Hemp is one of the earliest known plants to be cultivated by humans, with a recorded history of over 12,000 years, and has since been grown all around the world for food. An immensely sustainable crop, this hearty plant can be utilized for many different purposes: including using its fiber for textiles and paper, its oil for vehicle fuel and human health, and its seeds for nutrition and vitality. Just like our earliest ancestors understood, hemp’s nutritional benefits are highly renowned, and the hemp seed legacy continues as an ideal source of fuel for human health and energy.

The Power of Hemp
Though it may be just a small seed, hemp offers a huge nutritional content. Hemp seeds are naturally a fantastic protein source: they contain all of the essential amino acids, are highly digestible, and are one of the highest sources of complete protein of all plant-based foods. Hemp also has a very well-balanced ratio of essential fatty acids (EFAs) – Omega 3, 6, and 9 – which are excellent for cardiovascular health and promote a strong immune system (among many other benefits). A great source of dietary fiber, magnesium, iron, zinc, and potassium, hemp is a true superseed.

Nutrient-Dense Nut
Navitas Naturals Hemp Power is nothing short of delicious. A soft nut, our shelled hemp tastes reminiscent of a sunflower seed, with a distinctive richness. Enjoy hemp seeds by themselves, or try them sprinkled on just about anything: including granola or yogurt, salads, soups, dips, or baked into recipes. Our milled hemp protein has a mild taste, which becomes a background flavor when combined with other ingredients. Just a spoonful or two of this powder is the perfect protein boost when added to any smoothie, or mixed into flour for baking.

Did you know?
Thousands of years ago, Tibetan women were some of the first to discover how to make string and cloth from hemp fiber. There is evidence they used the hemp cords to guide the warp thread on their looms. To this day, Tibetans still use hempseed in their Yak buttered tea.

About Navitas Naturals

Navitas is the Latin Word for Energy
Navitas Naturals was founded in 2003 to bring energizing superfoods to North America to invigorate the modern ‘Western’ diet. Our organic superfoods come from ancient cultures around the world where they are traditionally used for both nutritional and medicinal purposes. Health-conscious people choose our nutrient-dense superfoods because they are an abundant whole-food source of antioxidants, protein, essential fats, vitamins, minerals and other key nutrients.

Pure & Simple
Nutrient-rich whole foods are at their best when they’re produced by organic agriculture and minimal processing. That’s why all our products are certified organic and use methods such as freeze-drying and low temperature processing to ensure maximum nutrition and flavor.

What is a Superfood?
A superfood is a nutrient-dense fruit or vegetable that contains a high content of antioxidants, protein, omega-3, minerals, fiber or other essential nutrients that have proven health benefits. Nutrient density is the ratio of calories to micronutrients – the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytochemicals that are essential to health, wellness and feeling great. Nutrient-dense foods, like most vegetables and fruits, have a high amount of valuable micronutrients and a low amount of calories. To protect the ‘super’ quality and nutrient integrity, a superfood must be certified organic and minimally processed.

I put 2 tablespoons on my Kashi GoLean Crisp! cereal just about every morning. One day I had the cereal without the seeds and it actually didn't taste as good. I have about 3/4 cup cereal and a half of banana. I then put about 1/4 milk on the cereal and the bananas and then the hemp seeds. So, they 'stick' to the milk on the cereal... This way you get most of the seeds, if you don't drink the left over milk, which I don't normally do. I use the milk minimally cause I don't love milk.

i'm new to eating hemp seeds so i assume these are just as good as any other hemp seeds. good for eating out of the bag but i wouldn't recommend trying to make hemp milk from these.
