About Danica Studio
They are young but they have heritage. Their story begins in 2009. Or was it 1967? In the Summer of Love, their parent company Now Designs launched with the intent of bringing professional quality kitchen linens to America. In 2009, a group of designers at Now Designs built on those decades of experience in textiles and created a contemporary labor of love: Danica Studio.
They are small but they think big. The actual Danica Studio is a basement of a retired factory located on the east side of Vancouver, BC. Here, nine talented designers and two or three dogs sketch, paint, illustrate, photograph, and argue over the merits of various Canadian indie bands of the ‘90s, all while generating an absurd amount of output, including two collections a year consisting of 250 skus. The studio collaborates on all of the designs and works together on every detail of each item.
They love textiles. Some of the designers have a background in textiles, some are from the world of graphic design, but they all love fabric. And this is where our nearly 50 years of history in textiles pays off, with great relationships with the best vendors in India, some of which go back generations. Their core collection of textiles including shower curtains, aprons, dishtowels, cosmetic bags and hand-crocheted coasters is complemented by quality porcelain mugs and canisters from China and luxurious bath towels from Turkey.
The beauty and energy of that unique combination has brought together designers from all over the world, who collaborate on designs inspired by their shared love of city, sea and forest. Their designs are inspired in equal parts by their cosmopolitan streets and the coastal wilderness that surrounds them. Their products are born from their passion for textiles, for the hand-crocheted and hand-printed, hand-spun and hand-tied. They invite you to explore the world of Danica Studio.
