How Promensil Works
Promensil contains 4 key isoflavones that mimic estrogen in the body, but much weaker and without the risks associated with traditional hormone replacement therapy (HRT). The isoflavone molecules (phytoestrogens) show a preference to bonding with beta estrogen receptors in cells but show no affinity to bond with the alpha estrogen receptors. What this means is that Promensil is able to provide relief of many menopause symptoms associated with lowered estrogen levels in the body without elevating risks of cancer or cardiovascular events, known side effects of HRT.
How Does Promensil Work?
Isoflavones are phytoestrogens, which literally means, plant estrogens. Isoflavones are similar in chemical structure to the body's own estrogen, and when consumed in adequate amounts they are able to mimic some of the effects of estrogen to assist with maintaining health and well being. Isoflavones however are weaker than your natural estrogen, and are selective in their action in the body. Isoflavones supplement the needs of women over 45 when levels of hormones are declining.
Recommended Treatment of Menopause Symptoms?
Patient should start by taking 1 tablet of Promensil Double Strength 80 mg every day with a meal to help with absorption. The tablet can be split in half, with one half taken with breakfast and the other half taken with the evening meal.
Take Promensil Double Strength daily for 2 months to ensure efficacy. Most women will start experiencing relief in 3 to 8 weeks. Promensil can be taken safely for as long as a woman is experiencing benefits. If she feels comfortable enough, she can reduce the dosage to 1 tablet of Promensil Regular Strength 40 mg a day. She can always switch back to 80 mg if her symptoms worsen.
When Will You See a Difference?
While this can vary with the individual, most women notice relief from symptoms within 3-8 weeks. The response may vary with the individual. If you have had absolutely no change in your well being after 9 weeks then you should contact your doctor or call PharmaCare, as they may be able to suggest ways to improve the efficacy of Promensil for you.
It is important that Promensil be taken daily. It will not be effective otherwise. It's recommended duration of use is at least six months. Promensil can be used safely for a long time. When visible symptoms such as hot flashes reduce or stop, the effects of declining estrogen levels are still affecting bone mineral density and cardiovascular health. Promensil helps reduce Bone Mineral Density losses and improve arterial compliance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you use Promensil if you're still getting regular monthly periods?
Yes. Women can take Promensil while they are still menstruating, in the time leading up to menopause. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding however should not take Promensil without first consulting a doctor.
What is the difference between Red Clover products and Soy isoflavones?
Not all Red Clover products are the same. The leaves of the plant contain the highest amount of isoflavones. Red Clover blossoms contain little or no isoflavones so products such as Red Clover tea will not provide any measurable isoflavone levels.
Red Clover and Soy are both legumes and belong to the same family of plants. The main difference is that Red Clover contains four active isoflavones whereas Soy only has two. The extra two found in Red Clover are commonly found in other legumes such as chickpeas and lentils.
How are isoflavones conencted to diet?
Estrogens play a vital role in maintaining a woman's health and well-being over her lifetime. Around the age of 35, a woman's own production of estrogens may slow. This is a challenging time for many women and the maintenance of lifestyle, well-being and normal body function is important to the enjoyment of this stage of life. The effects of giving supplemental estrogens are well known. They help relieve the symptoms of menopause, maintain healthy bones, as well as healthy cholesterol levels. They maintain arterial wall elasticity, the feel and appearance of the skin, normal mood and emotions, and the ability to concentrate.
What is Menopause?
Every woman will experience menopause in her own unique way. For some women, menopause will be a gradual phase that is hardly noticed. For others it can be marked with severe symptoms that make going about your daily life close to unbearable.
Menopause literally means the last monthly period of a woman's life. However, it is confirmed when a woman has not had a menstrual period for 12 consecutive months. The gradual decrease in the ovaries production of estrogen during this time is simply the body's natural evolution from the fertile child-bearing years to a whole new stage of life. For most women, menopause usually occurs between the ages of 45 to 55 years.
Natural midlife changes have begun when your periods become irregular. Perimenopause refers to the time leading up to menopause when the cycle length and menstrual flow can vary significantly. You may skip a period or your flow may become heavier or lighter. A common symptom is the commencement of hot flashes, which many women describe as a sudden rush of heat that spreads over the upper part of the body and face making the skin flush and causing a sudden burst of perspiration. The onset of hot flashes can often cause embarrassment for women as they can occur at anytime without warning. Night sweats and mood swings are also common during this time and you may find that your sleep patterns change.
Estrogen levels play an important role in a woman's life. They rise at puberty with the onset of childbearing years and then increase and decrease rhythmically with your menstrual cycle. They peak during pregnancy and then decline as you reach menopause and your menstrual cycle ceases.
For most post-menopausal women, the visible symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes and night sweats will ease. However, there are the invisible effects of menopause which remain. After menopause, estrogen remains at very low levels. This increases the risk of osteoporosis. This can mean bones become more brittle and prone to fracture. Cholesterol levels may also rise in some women and arteries become less elastic ("hardening of the arteries"). Both osteoporosis and heart health are major long-term health issues that women should be aware of after menopause.
