The Green Toys Story
About Green Toys
At its core, Green Toys Inc. has always been an eco-friendly toy company. In fact, they say that to them, “every day is Earth Day.” Their commitment to sustainability and playfulness is part of their DNA and they hope to inspire others to share in this passion.
From their 100% recycled materials to their US-based manufacturing, they’re raising awareness about sustainability while delivering unquestionably safe products. They believe that the best way to encourage environmental change is through goods people buy and use every day—and in their case that’s children’s products.
They care about your kids – how they play, what they play with, and what the future holds. They are constantly exploring and innovating to deliver the best products possible for a playful planet for all.
They make safe, earth-friendly playthings for kids, as part of the solution for a more sustainable world. By creating products made free of harm to children and the planet, they nurture young minds and bright futures.
How They Make 100% Recycled Toys
They obsess about quality and safety so you don’t have to. They’re an open book about how they operate.
Safety (it's #1)
They're a California-based company, doing business in a state known for its strict safety and environmental laws. Their toys surpass US and inernational standards for BPA and Phthalates, and conform to The CPSIA, ASTM F953, and International standards EN 71 and ISO 8124.
From ideation to implementation, they build their toys with purpose. They start with a simple idea, an iconic toy or traditional play pattern that has stood the test of time. They share the concept with parents, and ideas that make the cut get the Green Toys treatment. They sketch, develop 2D drawings and 3D CAD, and create 3D models integrating a subtle sophistication at every step along the way. Once they are sure they have the right recipe, they marry it with their process of using sustainable materials. They work hard on their designs, and don't cut corners by using glue, metal, screws or paint. Look up close, and you'll notice hints of delight that they hope make you chuckle or say "wow that's cool." With all of this, they hope their toys inspire open play, imagination, creativity and encourage child development.
Made Safe in the USA
Green Toys is 100% US-Made, from manufacturing to assembly to distribution. As a result, they reduce greenhouse gases, energy and save on transportation. Through their tight local supply chain, they maintain stringent quality control and onsite factory presence, provide local jobs, and generate a whole lot of company pride.
Their products demonstrate that recycling in something tangible and meaningful, old can become new. Their toys are living proof that milk jugs, just like the ones in your refrigerator and recycling bin, can ultimately end up back in your playroom. This helps close the loop for kids because they can see their own environmental efforts in action.
While recycled milk jugs are the primary ingredient in their toys, they sometimes integrate other types of recycled plastic (think yogurt cups!) when needed to ensure they're creating the best products possible. All the plastic is collected by waste management, cleaned, shredded into flakes, reprocessed into their raw material, and mixed with food-safe, mineral based coloring.
The milk jugs they use are 100% post-consumer recycled high-density polyethylene (HDPE). Some products have components made from recycled polypropylene (PP) or recycled low-density polyethylene (LDPE). By using recycled plastic, they deliver matereial from landfills, save energy, and reduce their carbon footprint.
All products are packaged in 100% recycled cardboard, no additives like blister packs, twist ties, or cellophane wrappers, and printed with minimal color using soy inks. On ocassion, they'll integrate packaging components made from 100% recycled water bottles when they need to make sure your product doesn't fall out of the fox. They've even received the prestigious Greener Packaging Award, the nation's only independednt sustainable packaging award.
They’re only as good as the company they keep, so they’ve partnered with organizations that help them take what they believe in at Green Toys one step further.
