Filling a Need for Non-slippery Yoga Mats
The founder of JadeYoga likes to say that their story started more than 100 years ago, with his grandfather, when he opened an oriental rug business. From that business came the inspiration for his father’s business, rug pads made of natural rubber that were of high-quality, to go with the oriental rugs, and wouldn’t slip like most pads. In 2000, JadeYoga built yet again on that business when they turned to the natural rubber that the rug pads were made of to create their first yoga mats.
JadeYoga Prides Itself on Being Sustainable and Eco-Friendly
JadeYoga’s products, and in particular their all-natural rubber mats, are made of sustainable rubber which means that they’re not depleting resources. The products are also all made in the United States, keeping production local, costs down, and the carbon footprint small. The mats comply with all U.S. environmental laws and contain no PVC’s, which made them the first ‘green’ and non-toxic yoga mat on the market at the time.
Giving Back to the Community and the World through Natural Products
JadeYoga has a long list of programs they donate to, organizations they support and causes that they care about. The company is very active on the volunteer front as well as in giving back to the world and their community. For each yoga mat purchased, for instance, the company plants a tree and they have planted more than 1.6 million trees so far. Some of their other causes include supporting local businesses, helping abused children, breast cancer awareness, raising money for autism and ovarian cancer causes. The company does this by color coordinating their products with a certain cause and thus also letting the consumer know which cause they’re helping to support when their purchase.
