I'd say these are 100% just as good as the "normal," chemical-laden brands you'd find in your drugstore. They are just as absorbent and effective for me.
I find their cardboard applicators to be slightly uncomfortable compared to plastic ones, but I'd gladly take a couple seconds of very minor discomfort over putting dangerous chemicals "up there!"
