About Gaiam Life
GAIAM's name was created as a fusion of the words Gaia - the name for Mother Earth in the Minoan civilization in ancient Crete - and “I am.” It symbolizes the interconnection of the Earth and all the life it sustains.
Gaiam (pronounced "guy-um") was founded on the concept of making decisions based on personal values that consider all aspects of our lives, as well as our impact on others and the planet, today and in the future. This concept is already shared by over 50 million people in the United States alone — and Gaiam believes that it is not just a trend, but a major cultural shift.
Gaiam sees signs everywhere in today's life experience of how conscious lifestyle values — including social and environmental responsibility, health and wellness, and personal development — are driving more consumer purchase decisions and pervading an ever-wider range of venues, from mass-market grocery stores to online communities. They believe that a growing number of people have a desire for media and products that inspire them to expand their awareness and pursue positive change in their lives.
Launched in 2006, Gaiam Life is Gaiam's first attempt at using the Internet as a gathering place to communicate their values and to provide people with a gathering place to share thoughts, ideas and feelings about the world we live in and our relationship with it. Gaiam hopes that their microcosm of the world community is a nurturing, supportive, positive destination for people seeking health, wellness and sustainable living.

I have the Gaiam socks and gloves. They are GREAT!!! I don't feel like I am slipping all over my mat and my alignment in poses couldn't be better. I highly recommend the socks in your yoga practice.
I didn't like these at all. I found that although the SOCKS stayed on the mat, my feet slipped inside of the socks which was very uncomfortable and distracting. I wear a women's size 9 shoe so I don't think it was because the socks were too big for me. I wore them once and will never wear them again.
The socks kept my feet warm during the yoga practice and provided some resistance on the mat. However in other more complicated postures, the socks moved around on my feet , thus making me less stable .
