We all know that we need to eat right to be healthy, but sometimes it simply is not convenient. Organic Food Bars solve this problem and they taste great too! With Organic Food Bars you finally have the best of both worlds; the convenience of a bar and the alkaline-forming nutritional quality you need to eat healthier than ever before. Now, "fast food" can be healthy food.
Over the past decade, organics have moved from the 'lunatic fringe' to middle America. 38% of U.S. families now consume some organic food -- and that number is rising precipitously. Most people recognize the benefits of organics, and studies show they would buy more organic food if it satisfied two criteria: 'better taste' and 'lower cost'.
How are Organic Food Bars made?
They travel the world to find the finest, most wholesome ingredients to handcraft Organic Food Bars. All of their ingredients are certified organic, kosher and purchased as fresh as possible. They prepare Organic Food Bars with lots of love in house. They don’t “contract out” the preparation of the bars, because they prefer to know exactly what goes on, at every moment, when Organic Food Bars are being made. That’s the only way to ensure the finest quality. The ingredients are mixed, blended, packaged and stored at room temperature to preserve the natural qualities and enzyme activity of the ingredients. Making Organic Food Bars is like making a gourmet, wholesome home-cooked meal. It’s simply healthier because you have control over ingredients; it tastes better; and, it’s just got more heart and soul to it!
Organic Food Bars taste like they are made fresh every morning? How is this accomplished?

How long do Organic Food Bars keep their “fresh-made taste”?
Most people cannot believe how fresh Organic Food Bars taste! Organic Food Bars taste like they were made minutes ago. The secret lies in their very special organic ingredients, their special preparation process and in their high- tech, environmentally-friendly wrappers that protect the “fresh-made” bars for up to one year!
Is Organic Food Bar really organic?
Absolutely, positively, 100%! Organic Food Bar is one of the world’s only, 100% certified organic whole food bar according to the organic guidelines set by the USDA, JAS, EEC 2091/2092 (European Union) and Austria (Austria has some of the world’s toughest organic standards and guidelines). Many products are touted as “organic,” but they only include a portion of organic ingredients and may also contain synthetic USP vitamin supplements. Organic Food Bar thinks this is disingenuous. They believe that if you say you’re organic, then you should mean it.
You’ve probably heard a lot about organic food and farming by now. Like any health or nutrition topic, some of the statements are overblown and exaggerated. However, they believe that most of the positive reports on organic food are true. First, a definition: Organic food is simply food produced according to certain production standards. For crops, it means they were grown without the use of conventional pesticides, artificial fertilizers, human waste, or sewage sludge and that they were processed without ionizing radiation or food additives. There are, of course, different schools of thought about organic food. Some people believe that organic farming is not as “sustainable” as conventional farming because organic farms require more land. However, they feel differently. They believe the arguments in favor of organic food and farming far outweigh those against them. For example, it’s indisputable that organic farming is better for the environment because organic farms do not release synthetic pesticides into the environment; organic farms are better than conventional farms at sustaining diverse ecosystems; and, organic farms use less energy and produce less waste), which is better for producers. Even when pesticides are used correctly, they still end up in the air, underground water and bodies of farm workers. And, perhaps most importantly: we believe without reservation that organic food is better for you. No study has shown pesticides to be healthy and almost all find them to be harmful to human health. Organic Food Bars are 100% organic. They always have been and always will be.
What makes Organic Food Bar different than other bars?
In two words: uncompromising quality. If you are unflinching in staying true to your vision, and this applies to any area of life really, then the end product is as good as it can be. But don’t take their word for it: just read the ingredient list on our bars and compare them to other products. You are what you eat, so please take the time to read, and understand, the ingredient lists on all the foods you buy for yourself and for your children.
What is “live food?”
“Live food” is simply food that has not been processed, irradiated or overcooked and contains active ingredients that are beneficial for your health like enzymes, vitamins and phytonutrients. Organic Food Bars are considered “live foods.”
What does an Organic Food Bar taste like?
This is difficult to explain in words. When most people pick up an Organic Food Bar and read how amazingly healthy it is, their first reaction is that it won’t taste good. That stands to reason: most “healthy bars” taste like the sole of a shoe. Organic Food Bars, however, are among the most delicious food bars ever created. They’ve made taste a big, big priority here. First and foremost, they taste incredibly fresh. They are very moist and feel “substantial.” They have a gentle sweet flavor and burst with healthful ingredients that almost immediately make you feel healthier. The body doesn’t lie. Try one for yourself and you’ll see.
What are GMOs? Are they harmful?
A genetically modified organism (GMO) is an organism whose genetic material has been altered using techniques in genetics generally known as recombinant DNA technology. Genetic modification (GM) is the subject of controversy in its own right. Some see the science itself as meddling with "natural" order, while others recognize the inability of modern science to fully comprehend all of the potential negative ramifications of gene manipulation. While some experts believe GMOs are harmful; others do not. Here’s where they stand on this point: Nobody can claim that they definitively know the long-term effects of GMOs on human health; there haven’t been any peer-reviewed long-term studies. So, they prefer to play it safe when it comes to your health. Mother Nature knows best. In Organic Food Bar, they stick to all-natural, pure and unprocessed, organic whole food ingredients -- and by doing that they know they’re delivering the very best to you with no possible risks of harm to your health.
What are pesticides? Are they harmful?
The U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines a pesticide as "any substance or mixture of substances intended for preventing, destroying, repelling, or lessening the damage of any pest.” Will pesticides kill you? No, they won’t. Not in the amounts found in most foods. Are they good for you? No, they are not. That’s well established. Some pesticides are very toxic and they have been implicated in the development of some cancers. A study published by the United States National Research Council in 1993 determined that for infants and children, the major source of exposure to pesticides is through diet. A recent study in 2006 measured the levels of organophosphorus pesticide exposure in 23 school children before and after replacing their diet with organic food (food grown without synthetic pesticides). In this study it was found that levels of organophosphorus pesticide exposure dropped dramatically and immediately when the children switched to an organic diet. Sometimes it’s a matter of what’s not in a food rather than what’s in a food. Organic Food Bar believes that pesticides are something that should never be in your food.
What is high-fructose corn syrup?
High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) refers to a group of corn syrups which have undergone enzymatic processing in order to increase their fructose content and are then mixed with pure corn syrup (100% glucose) to reach their final form. This is considered a refined sugar, and most nutrition experts believe it is not healthy to consume HFCS. High-fructose corn syrup is a very common ingredient in foods. Organic Food Bars have never contained high-fructose corn syrup, and they never will.
What is rice syrup? I thought rice was healthy!
Rice syrup is a sweetener derived by culturing cooked rice with enzymes (usually from dried barley sprouts) to break down the starches, then straining off the liquid and cooking it until the desired consistency is reached. It is absorbed into the bloodstream immediately. Brown rice syrup is not suitable for consumption by diabetics, as the glucose and maltose cause rapid rise in blood-sugar. Organic Food Bars have never contained rice syrup, and they never will.
What are trans fats? Are they the same as hydrogenated oils?
Trans fatty acids (commonly termed trans fats) are a type of unsaturated fat (and may be monounsaturated or polyunsaturated). Most trans fats consumed today are industrially created as a side effect of partial hydrogenation of plant oils — a process developed in the early 1900s and first commercialized as Crisco in 1911. Partial hydrogenation changes a fat's molecular structure (raising its melting point and reducing rancidity), but this process also results in a portion of the changed fat becoming trans fat. Unlike other fats, trans fats are neither required nor beneficial for health. Eating trans fat increases the risk of coronary heart disease. For these reasons, health authorities worldwide recommend that consumption of trans fat be reduced to trace amounts or eliminated if possible. Trans fats from partially hydrogenated oils are generally considered to be more of a health risk than those occurring naturally. A simple inspection of ingredients lists on foods such as breads, cookies and other “bars” show how common trans fats are in processed foods. Organic Food Bars have never contained trans fats, and they never will.
Organic Food Bars are unprocessed. I hear a lot about “processed foods” and how processed foods can be. What does that mean and why are unprocessed foods unhealthy?
Food processing is the set of methods and techniques used to transform raw ingredients into food for consumption by humans or animals. The food processing industry utilizes these processes. Food processing often takes clean or harvested components and uses these to produce attractive and marketable food products. Benefits of food processing includes toxin removal, killing enzymes, preservation, adding flavor agents, easing marketing and distribution tasks, and increasing food consistency. In addition, it increases seasonal availability of many foods, enables transportation of delicate perishable foods across long distances. However, the downside of food processing is that is lowers the nutritional value of foods by eliminating or reducing enzymes, vitamins, phytonutrients and probiotics. Some preservatives added or created during processing such as nitrites or sulfites may cause adverse health effects on some consumers. In addition, high quality and hygiene standards must be maintained to ensure consumer safety and failures to maintain adequate standards can have serious health consequences. They believe that food bar products such as Organic Food Bars should be unprocessed, since there are so many processed foods in our daily diet. This is why Organic Food Bars are higher in enzymes, vitamins and phytonutrients than most packaged foods. Organic Food Bars are unprocessed, and they will always be unprocessed.
What is the difference between a “food bar” ,“energy bar” and “nutrition bar”?
This one is simple: food bars contain real food. Most “energy bars or nutrition bars” contain synthetic or processed ingredients. They believe the body functions better on real food, the way nature intended. Organic Food Bar is the world’s leading organic whole food bar.
What does it mean to be kosher?
Kosher foods are those that meet certain criteria of Jewish law. Invalidating characteristics may range from the presence of a mixture of meat and milk, to the use of produce from Israel that has not been tithed properly, or even the use of cooking utensils which had previously been used for non-kosher food. Organic Food Bar is certified kosher, and it always will be.
I noticed there is a moderate amount of fat in Organic Food Bars. Why is this so? And, what are “quality fats?”
There has developed, particularly in America, a “fat phobia.” People are afraid of fats because they don’t want to “get fat.” Here is a key distinction to make: there are healthy fats and unhealthy fats. Unhealthy fats include saturated fats found in fatty meats and hydrogenated oils. Healthy fats include extra virgin olive oil, fish oils and oils found in nuts. Organic Food Bars contain only healthy fats that come from their nut butters. These kinds of fats are heart healthy, they balance your blood sugar levels and they sustain you for longer periods of time. Think about how you feel when you eat a plate of plain pasta. Not very satisfied. Include some healthy oil, and you’ll end up eating less overall calories, because you’ll feel more satisfied for a longer period of time. An Organic Food Bar will sustain you for hours. Most other bars cannot make that claim.
Some of your bars indicate that they are gluten-free. However, don't wheat grass powder and barley grass powder contain gluten?
Our Active Greens Bar is tested by an independent laboratory to be Gluten Free <3ppm gluten. The US standard to be claimed gluten free is <20ppm and Organic Food Bar is well below that! Wheat grass and Barley grass are gluten free as they only use the tips of the grasses. There is a some gluten towards the stem of the grasses but most grasses are pretty safe. Wheat and Barley grains do have high levels of gluten but grasses are quite different than grains.
I have a daughter with a peanut allergy and was looking for a protein / nutrition bar that I could keep around for myself and eat that would not cross contaminate her. I know that you do not use peanuts but have the nuts that you use ever come in close contact with peanuts?
Peanut allergies can be very serious -- and in rare cases, life- threatening. The almonds or cashew butter in Organic Food Bars do not come in close contact with peanuts, since they are made on a separate line. Some people that are severely allergic, however, can be allergic to any nut. So, it's imperative that you check on this with your family physician.
Do you or will you use fumigated almonds from California to make you Organic Food Bars, and if so, will you label them, or do you have sources from other countries?
They do not use California almonds due to the fumigation issue. They will not use fumigated almonds due to possible health concerns. They source all the ingredients, first-hand, directly from the farmers. This helps to maintain an unparalleled quality of Organic Food Bars for customers.
When I unwrapped [the bar], I saw that the inside of the wrapping was aluminum. I have been reading some disturbing news about [aluminum]. So, what [are] your thoughts on that?
Their wrappers are specifically-designed and manufactured to ensure that there is absolutely no leaching of any material into Organic Food Bars. Most bar wrappers have a thin layer of food safe plastic — some have none! — but their wrapper has more than one layer to guarantee that the food inside is perfectly safe and wholesome. They also perform what is known as a "cold seal," so there is no heat involved in sealing the wrapper. This further ensures a safe and healthy product.
The package says product of USA. Are all of the ingredients grown and processed in the USA?
Organic Food Bar is made fresh daily in their own US-based facility in California. This state-of-the-art facility is certified organic, dairy free, wheat free, gluten free, peanut free and soy free. Their ingredients are sourced from the very finest vendors and farmers in Europe, the United States of America and Canada. They do not use any Chinese ingredients in Organic Food Bars, and they do not contract out any part of their manufacturing process overseas.
Since quinoa is a grain does it not also have the same negative effects on the body as other grains, such as perforating the intestinal lining that can lead to leaky gut?
You can rest assured that Organic Food Bars do not contain simple grains as they can be acid-forming and therefore unhealthful. They are unlike any bar on the market and live up to their promises of being the healthiest bar in the world. That said, they go to the extra time and expense to sprout all of their grains, which makes these “living” grains alkaline-forming – and, as a result: a good deal healthier. Sprouted grain is more of a plant.
Is the glue used in your wrappers is gluten free?? We buy your bars by the metric ton and some our family member may be "inadvertently" eating some of the glue.
Organic Food Bar goes to extraordinary measures to handcraft the world’s healthiest and “cleanest” bars. You will be pleased to know that the cold seal cohesive they use on all of their wrappers is gluten free.
I have noticed that some of your products are marked Vegan and some are not. Are all products Vegan or just the ones marked?
Absolutely no Organic Food Bars contain any ingredient from animal sources. The reason they do not represent their bars with chocolate chips as Vegan is because they are made on shared equipment that also makes dairy chocolate. They hold ourselves to the highest standards of integrity and “Truth in Advertising.” That is why they are so careful about what we say on their labels. Keep in mind that they handcraft their bars in their own certified organic and kosher facility (which is exceedingly rare in this business). They also thoroughly clean the machines between productions. However, there may be trace amounts (in extremely low PPM (parts per million)) of dairy. Otherwise, their chocolate chips are dark chocolate and are non-dairy.
Can you please tell me what the difference is between your organic and raw organic bars?
Their 68gram Organic Food Bars contain almond butter as a base. Their 50gram Raw Organic Food Bars contain cashew butter. Since cashews cost less than almonds, the pricing is better. If you want the best possible bar, then their 68gram bars with almond butter are the choice to make due to the superior alkalinity properties. At the same time, the raw 50gram bars are without question the best value and the healthiest product in this price category.
What are bio-dynamic sprouts and what types and how do you use them in your bars?
The qualifier “bio-dynamic” in “bio-dynamic organic raisins” means it is yet another step above organic. This has to do with sustainability and the condition of the soil etc. BioSprouts Flax and Quinoa are made in their own facility in Austria. Sprouting activates the seed and increases the vitamins, enzymes, lignans and phytonutrients considerably. An unsprouted seed is basically in a dormant stage with a very low nutritional value. Sprouting (germination) literally brings the seed alive! And, that brings you alive! Eating Raw Living Foods makes a HUGE difference for your body and your life.
What does 'cold processed' mean with implications to nutritional value of product?
Cold processed means that Organic Food Bar products are not baked. Moreover, the ingredients are not made over 118 F. This means Organic Food Bar is alkaline-forming, high in vitamin and enzyme content and easily digested. The ingredients you find in Organic Food Bar products are very high quality and cannot be compared with any other bar. They have never used any Chinese ingredients from the start when they effectively pioneered the Raw organic movement back in 2001. Everything else you see on the shelf is a cheap copy. Unlike most companies, Organic Food Bar products are made fresh in their own facility that processes no Peanuts, Wheat, Gluten, Dairy or Soy.

Dr. Jack J. Singh is the founder and President Organic Food Bar, the finest quality and best-selling organic and raw bars in the world. Organic Food Bar launched intrepidly years ago before any other organic bar...before organics were widely accepted as a better alternative to conventionally grown foods. They printed the benefits of raw foods on the front of their 70–100% raw bar. It was substantially higher in price than the bars of its day. They were, and remain, a pioneer in the industry — and they helped pave the way for many organic and raw food entrepreneurs. They are the original and remain the best in terms of quality, taste and value!
