The Ultimate Chocolate Cake
|3 scant cups flour
||2 1/3 cups warm water
||2 cups sugar |
|1 1/4 cups butter (melted)
||1 1/2 tsp salt
||2 tsp vanilla |
|2 tsp baking soda
||2 tbsp vinegar
||1 cup cocoa |
Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl. Stir in the wet ingredients. Beat until smooth. Butter a tube cake pan and dust with flour. Bake in oven at 350 degrees for one hour or until toothpick is removed dry. There are no eggs in this recipe!
Mocha Buttercream Frosting
|1 stick (4 oz.) butter, softened
||dissolved in 1/4 cup black coffee |
|2 tsp instant coffee granules
||1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa |
|1 lb confectionery sugar
Combine confectionery sugar and cocoa in a bowl and stir well to combine. Add the softened butter and mix in gently. Add the coffee liquid, a small amount at a time, and beat with electric mixer until smooth and to desired consistency.
Traditional Hot Chocolate
Place into mug 1 heaping teaspoon of cocoa and 2 teaspoons of sugar. In a saucepan, or microwave, heat 8 ounces of milk until piping hot. Stir into mug. Make one serving. Serve with whipped cream or marshmallows. Can also be made with soy or rice milk.
3 level Tbsp of cocoa plus
1 Tbsp of shortening or oil
Equals 1 square (1 oz.) of baking chocolate
May Contain traces of milk, soybean, tree nuts, and wheat.

i LOVE Lake Champlain Cocoa....I add it to my coffee almost every morning....& make hot cocoa in the winter.
