Oral Electrolyte Maintenance Solution by PediaVance
Nature's One - PediaVance Oral Electrolyte Maintenance Solution Apple - 32 oz.
PediaVance Organic Electrolyte Solution
Natures One Pedia Vance is nutritionally comparable to Pedialyte. Nature's One PediaVance Electrolyte is scientifically formulated to treat dehydration just like the leading brands; however, PediaVance is the only electrolyte solution made with organic ingredients. This means parents can avoid giving their children artificial sweeteners, colors and flavors while treating the effects of their child’s illness. PediaVance special formulation is made with natural grape and apple flavors and contains organic white grape juice, which is a well tolerated juice for children recovering from diarrhea.
PediaVance Electrolyte is currently the only oral electrolyte solution made with organic and natural ingredients; nothing is artificial. There are no genetically modified ingredients. PediaVance Electrolyte is made with natural flavors and is free of preservatives and alcohol.
Electrolyte Solution is Scientifically Balanced
PediaVance contains appropriate levels of electrolytes, water and carbohydrates to maintain proper hydration. Electrolytes are mineral substances (sodium, potassium, and chloride) that conduct electrical currents in the body and maintain tissue fluids. The balance of the electrolytes in our bodies is essential for the normal functioning of body cells and organs. Electrolytes are needed to prevent dehydration that may be caused by diarrhea, vomiting, fever or heat exhaustion. Giving pure water is not the best way to restore body fluid levels because it dilutes the minerals inside the body’s cells and interferes with their chemical and electrical functions. PediaVance Electrolyte promotes fluid absorption more effectively than household beverages. Common beverages (water, tea, juice, sport and soft drinks) do not contain balanced levels of essential minerals necessary in maintaining hydration. Also, sugary drinks may make diarrhea worse.
Dehydration Caused by Diarrhea & Vomiting
Viral or bacterial illness may develop over a period of hours or it may suddenly start with stomach cramps, vomiting, or diarrhea. When symptoms first appear, it is important to rest the stomach and intestines to treat the illness. Dehydration can become a serious complication of illnesses such as flu, food poisoning, rotavirus, viral gastroenteritis, or the Norovirus, including the Norwalk virus. With the onset of diarrhea or vomiting, a child may need PediaVance to keep the body hydrated with the electrolytes that are critical to human health.
Heat Exhaustion Leads to Dehydration
Heat exhaustion can lead to serious illnesses for children and adults due to dehydration. Children are most vulnerable to heat exhaustion when exposed to high temperatures or fever over several days or as a result of high activity in the sun. Parents should be most watchful for dehydration in children participating in sport activities and particularly if the child experiences vomiting along with high levels of physical exertion. Warning signs of heat exhaustion include heavy sweating, paleness, muscle cramps, tiredness, weakness, dizziness, headache, nausea or vomiting and fainting. PediaVance will help prevent dehydration by replacing the electrolytes lost during extended periods of fever or when body temperatures rise due to over exertion.
Only Organic Electrolyte Solution
PediaVance is Made with Organic Ingredients
While the leading and store brands use artificial sweeteners, colors and flavors, PediaVance only uses organic and natural ingredients. PediaVance is manufactured in the U.S.A. and is organic certified as “Made with Organic Ingredients.” Under the USDA organic laws, the minerals (electrolytes) used to prevent dehydration cannot be certified organic. This is because minerals are not agriculturally grown or harvested ingredients. Instead minerals are taken directly from the earth. As a result, PediaVance has achieved the highest organic certification possible and is made with 75% USDA certified organic ingredients. The remaining ingredients are natural and no chemicals are used to extract or process the minerals.
Carbohydrates are commonly referred to as sugars or starches; however, they are classified scientifically as monosaccharides, disaccharides, or polysaccharides. The carbohydrates used in PediaVance Electrolyte are monosaccharides, which is a one molecule sugar. Examples are glucose (also sometimes called dextrose), fructose (sometimes called fruit sugar), and galactose. Glucose is the major fuel needed by the body for energy. It does not need to be broken down like more complex sugars. This is why intravenous fluids (IVs) used in medical situations contain glucose (dextrose). Dextrose can be injected directly into the bloodstream without the need for further digestion by the body and is a ready source of energy for the body’s cells.
Glucose is also used in oral electrolyte maintenance solutions, such as PediaVance Electrolyte. A combination of sodium with glucose in the small intestine of the body promotes the absorption of water into the bloodstream, thus helping to keep the body hydrated. This physiological system in the body is referred to as the glucose-sodium cotransport system. So in diarrhea management, glucose is very important!
The balance of carbohydrates in a solution is also important in preventing or treating dehydration. Too much carbohydrate can cause the diarrhea to worsen by moving water from the body into the intestinal tract. PediaVance Electrolyte is specifically designed to meet all of the requirements needed to maintain hydration in infants, children and adults. An appropriate combination in the proper amounts of organic dextrose and organic white grape juice is used to meet carbohydrate requirements.
