Anish Sheth, a former international finance lawyer, is an avid traveler and foodie. This passion has roots in his family – for the last two decades, they have taken a family trip somewhere new every year, covering over 35 countries and hundreds of cities. Recently, after spending two years in Hong Kong, and traveling extensively in Asia, he decided to try to replicate the unique and delicious flavors so popular around the world and often missing the western palate. A native Texan, he chose Austin as a home base – the beautiful scenery, interesting people and rapid ascension in the food world made it a perfect place to start a new business.
His company, Grandma Lu’s Spice Cabinet, focuses on bringing world flavors to the west using more familiar vehicles. His first product was a versatile seasoning blend using the Sichuan peppercorn, which he first sampled while roaming the Chengdu Markets in Sichuan Province. He calls his company Grandma Lu’s to honor the legacy and mastery that grandmothers achieve in the culinary arts and pass down through the generations.
