Frequently Asked Questions:
Are all Earth's Care products 100% Natural?
Most of Earth's Care's products are 100% natural. Because natural options are not available for some types of ingredients, a few of Earth's Care's formulas have an extremely low percentage of synthetic constituents. Earth's Care's goal for all of their products is to increase the natural content to the highest level possible. Earth's Care continuously monitors developments in natural ingredients as they strive toward this objective.
How do Earth's Care products compare to those of some of their competitors?
Although some other brands also use natural ingredients, Earth's Care believes their criteria for ingredient selection and their transparency in talking about their ingredients meets or exceeds current standards in the industry. For example, Earth's Care has decided not to use some of the ingredients approved by the leading natural products certification group.
Some of Earth's Care's formulas contain synthetic preservatives. Why does Earth's Care use these?
Virtually all of Earth's Care's ointments and balms do not contain water and thus do not need preservatives. However, products containing water must use preservatives to prevent bacterial and mold growth. After careful consideration of the options, Earth's Care has chosen to use phenoxyethanol and potassium sorbate in select formulas to maximize safety and efficacy. Earth's Care does not use parabens in any of their products.
Does Earth's Care use any animal ingredients?
Yes, Earth's Care uses beeswax in some of their products. Earth's Care's products contain no other animal ingredients.
Does Earth's Care test their products on animals?
No. Earth's Care is committed to never testing their formulas on animals. However, Earth's Care does test many of their products on humans. This enables Earth's Care to confirm that a formula is unlikely to be irritating or cause allergies.
Some of Earth's Care's products have a noticeable aroma. Does Earth's Care use any artificial fragrances in their products?
The aroma present in Earth's Care products, if any, is due to the natural ingredients in the formulas. Earth's Care never uses artificial fragrances in their products. In those few instances where Earth's Care does use fragrances, they are natural and phthalate-free.
Do Earth's Care products have an expiration date? Where can I find this?
Only Earth's Care topical drug products have expiration dates in accordance with FDA regulations. Earth's Care oils and non-drug skincare products do not have expiration dates. All of Earth's Care's products have lot numbers. The lot number and expiration date (if applicable) can be found on the product label or the bottom of the product box or container.
My product has expired. Can I still use it?
Earth's Care tests their products for stability and efficacy for the period up to the expiration date. For this reason, Earth's Care recommends that you discard and replace any expired product you may have.
Where are Earth's Care products made?
All Earth’s Care products are manufactured at their FDA-regulated plant in Southern California.
I noticed an FSC symbol on Earth's Care boxes, what does this mean?
Earth's Care boxes use paper certified by the FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council). The FSC ensures that every batch of paper used to print Earth's Care boxes is from certified well managed forests, company controlled sources and/or recycled material. In accordance with FSC standards, these forests are controlled to maintain high conservation values, exclude illegally harvested timber, and protect human rights.
Why doesn't Earth's Care use recycled plastic for their jars?
Although Earth's Care reviewed recycled plastic options in detail, they determined that the technology was not yet at the level needed to ensure the integrity of their products and to comply with FDA regulations. All of Earth's Care's current packaging material, including jars, is recyclable. Earth's Care will continue to monitor the characteristics of any new recycled plastic containers that become available.
Why does Earth's Care use amber glass bottles for all their oils?
Earth's Care studied various container options based on their ability to protect Earth's Care's premium oils from deterioration due to exposure to ultraviolet light. Earth's Cares determined that amber glass provides the best overall protection for their products.

Earth's Care commitment to you is:
- To use natural ingredients whenever possible.
- Never to use:
- Artificial Fragrance or Colors

- Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
- Never to test their products on animals.
- To use recyclable containers and boxes for all of their products.
Earth's Care carefully reviews and analyzes each ingredient before they select it for a formula. Earth's Care considers dozens of ingredient possibilities for each of their natural products. Earth's Care also evaluates the level of expected performance for their intended use, and whether the ingredient will be non-irritating and unlikely to cause allergies. This painstaking analysis, followed by multiple stages of product development for each formula, has enabled Earth's Care to develop an outstanding product line of health and beauty products built on natural sourcing.
Does Earth's Care believe topical drugs and cosmetics should only contain natural ingredients and that all synthetic ingredients should be avoided? No, they do not. However, they do believe that research has created enough doubt about the safety or effectiveness of some synthetic ingredients to justify using natural alternatives when available.
Virtually all of Earth's Care's ingredients in their products are indeed natural, and most of their product formulas are all natural. In fact, all of their ingredients are on the approved ingredients list of the leading natural products trade group. However, Earth's Care has chosen to exceed the standards of this association in some cases, as they do not classify certain of these ingredients as natural.
Earth's Care does use synthetic preservatives in certain products that contain water. Preservatives are essential in these formulas to inhibit bacterial and mold growth. However, Earth's Care is continuously striving to find natural substitutes for these preservatives and the other few synthetic components of their health and beauty products.
At Earth’s Care we believe in nurturing the body…and the planet. In these challenging times for our environment, giving back to the earth has never been more important.
As a company, our commitment begins with membership in 1% for the Planet—an alliance of companies dedicated to supporting environmental causes around the world through philanthropy. It’s a simple but important pledge to our planet: we must preserve and protect the world around us.
All manufacturing companies utilize packaging materials. At Earth’s Care, we want to reduce the consumption of natural resources by offering packaging—containers, folding cartons, labels and more—that is 100% recyclable. We are also proponents of wind energy, and print our boxes using this renewable resource.
Notably, all Earth’s Care folding cartons bear the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) symbol, which certifies that paper materials used are sourced through responsible management of world forests. These forests are controlled to maintain high conservation values, exclude illegally harvested timber, and protect human rights.
1% For The Planet
As a member company of this renowned organization, Earth’s Care donates 1% of its worldwide revenue to organizations that work to preserve and protect the environment.
Founded in 2002 when a handful of Northern California businesses first signed on to support environmental causes, 1% for the Planet has grown to more than 1400 member companies who are financially committed to creating a healthier planet.
Member companies contribute 1% of their sales directly to any of the hundreds of non-profit environmental organizations certified by 1% for the Planet. This enables companies to choose those causes they’re most passionate about—from Alaska Conservation to the Zoological Society in London.
Earth’s Care is proud to support the excellent work of this organization, and is pleased to play a role in their global efforts to sustain and protect our natural environment.
