Why Argan Oil?
The oil of this native Moroccan tree is rich in fatty acids and compounds that soften and smooth the skin.

What is Camu Camu?
Camu Camu is an antioxidant-rich berry from the Amazon packed with 30x more vitamin C than an orange.

Ingredient Highlights:

Argan Oil – Providing instant, non-comedogenic hydration to the skin while naturally occurring triterpenoids work to heal scar tissue, reduce inflammation & protect the skin.  Containing over 80% essential fatty acids, as well as naturally occurring vitamin E, this exotic oil works to moisturize & revitalize the skin.

Sea Buckthorn Berry – This berry native to the Tibetan Himalayas, is rich in vitamins A, B, C, D, E, K, P, carotenoids, flavonoids, phenols, folic acid & fatty acids. In fact, the buckthorn berry is the only plant in the world to contain omega 3, 6, 7 & 9 all together.

Blueberry Extract – This superfruit is rich in antioxidants including vitamins A & C that protect the skin by neutralizing aging free radicals.  Blueberries have been shown to reduce the rigidity of capillary walls underneath the skin, promoting circulation & aiding in the reduction of redness & flushing.

Pomegranate Oil - Potent antioxidant that is a high source of ellagic acid, a polyphenol that has been shown to inhibit the growth of skin cancer.  Believed to also mediate the effects of ultraviolet rays & skin discoloration.

Camu Camu Berry – Amazonian berry with 30x the vitamin C of an orange.

Broccoli Extract – A recent study at John Hopkins found that broccoli extract applied topically reduced UV induced redness & inflammation by an average of 37%.  This is thought to be a result of the sulforaphane found in broccoli.

Raspberry Seed Extract – High in antioxidants such as vitamin E, vitamin A, and omega fatty acids 3 & 6, raspberry seed extract is also know for its anti-inflammatory and anti-septic qualities.  High in ellagic acid, a natural polyphenol, raspberry seed extract provides UV protective benefits, while protecting the skin from damaging free radicals.

Strawberry Extract – Another antioxidant-rich berry, Strawberry extract has been shown to have UV protective effects on the skin.

Goji Berry – Containing 18 vital amino acids, zinc, selenium, phosphorus and vitamins B1, B2, B6, C & E, goji berries provide the skin with essential nutrients and antioxidants. In fact, the superfruit contains more beta carotene than carrots, and even more iron than spinach.

Hemp Seed Extract -  Rich in omegas 3, 6 & 9, as well as antioxidants, hemp seed oil provides the skin with instant moisturizing and protective benefits.

Grape Seed Extract - One of nature’s most potent antioxidants, shown to inhibit UV generated skin damage and protect skin from free radicals.

Sunflower Seed Oil -  Rich in vitamins A, D & E, as well as essential fatty acids, sunflower seed oil has natural moisturizing and anti-inflammatory effects on the skin.

Frequently Asked Questions

What order should I use my products in?
A major difference between people who get great results from their skin care products and those who do not, is how well they rub them into their skin.  When rubbing in skin care products though it is essential to be very gentle and to not pull and tug on the skin.  More of a light kneading, massage that works up blood flow in the face and helps the actives fully penetrate, without stretching or pulling the skin.

Keeping this in mind, Mad Hippie recommends gently massaging the vitamin C serum into your skin in the morning after washing and drying thoroughly.

Wait 5 minutes after applying the serum & apply the creams.  Apply the face cream to the entire face, including eye area, then apply the eye cream beside and below the eyes—making sure to rub both creams in well, particularly around wrinkle prone areas.  Follow this with our extra hydrating Antioxidant Facial Oil as the final & last step.  At night, follow the same steps but replace the vitamin C serum with the exfoliating serum.

If just using the creams, wait a couple minutes after washing your face when skin is fully dry to apply.

How long does it take to start seeing the effects of Mad Hippie?
The thing you have to remember about skin damage, wrinkles and other signs of aging, is that they take many years to occur. Treating ailments of the skin through natural ingredients is the safest and most effective means, but one should not expect overnight results. Instead expect to see marked improvements in 30-60 days, with the full results taking 90+ days. With continued use, you can keep your skin looking healthy, bright and beautiful regardless of your age.

Should I wear sunscreen while using Mad Hippie?
Absolutely!  If you are going to be out in the sun for more than a 10-15 minute stretch, it is a good idea to wear sunscreen. Look for sunscreens that are ALL NATURAL with physical blocking agents such as titanium dioxide and zinc dioxide. The majority of the sunscreens that are not all natural contain chemical blocking agents such as oxybenzone (a chemical that absorbs through the skin and contaminates the bodies of 97% of Americans according to the CDC) and parabens (a hormone blocker that mimics estrogen) that can be more detrimental to the body than the sun itself.

So remember, when slathering up in sunscreen, GO ALL NATURAL.

Where should I keep my Mad Hippie products?
Mad Hippie products can be kept at room temperature wherever you would like.  Avoid keeping your products in the heat or exposed to UV rays though.

About Mad Hippie
Mad Hippie is a small, family run company that started in Portland, Maine. A few years back they migrated to the great city of Austin, Texas to help them keep it weird. Their goal has always been to make the safest, most effective products utilizing scientifically advanced actives coupled with Mother Nature's finest antioxidants. To give you, healthier, younger looking skin. It's just what they do. It's what they're passionate about.

At Mad Hippie they take skin care seriously, but they also take corporate responsibility seriously.
They know and appreciate the faith a customer puts into a company when buying their line, and that’s why they strive to always make the safest, most effective products possible.  Unfortunately, the beauty care industry is riddled with companies that are strictly profit-minded & willing to fill their products with anything if it is cheap, regardless of the health consequences to the consumer. Call them hippies, but they just don’t feel that’s right.

At Mad Hippie they wouldn’t put anything into their skin care products that they wouldn’t feel comfortable putting on to their own skin. Ever.

It can’t stop there though. They also take their responsibility to the planet seriously & that’s why they are always working to further reduce their carbon footprint and impact on the environment. From recently switching to some of the only fully recyclable airless pumps on the market, to printing entirely with soy inks using 100% wind energy (RECs), Mad Hippie is dedicated to the preservation of the environment.

So, give their natural skin care products a try and feel good knowing you are taking a step towards healthier, more beautiful skin, while we work together towards a healthier, more beautiful planet.

Mad Hippie Combines the Most Advanced Anti-Aging Actives with Mother Nature’s Best Antioxidants to Give Your Skin Just What it Needs to Look its Best!
It use to be that you had two choices when it came to skin care.  Choose a traditional brand with sophisticated anti-aging ingredients, but run the risk of exposing your body to harmful synthetic additives, or choose a natural skin care line that while safe, did little more than hydrate the skin.  Well, now there’s another choice……

At Mad Hippie they formulate their products with two things in mind – safety and efficacy.  They just thought, why can’t you have both?

While many skin care products utilize simply 1-2 active ingredients, requiring a person to buy a multitude of different products to meet their basic skin care needs, at Mad Hippie they pack each and every product chock-full of anti-aging actives, all formulated to compliment one another and work in synergy. Their philosophy:  More Actives. More Results.

So, if you are looking for a natural and safe way to improve the appearance of your skin, you’ve come to the right place.  By putting in only the good stuff and none of the bad, Mad Hippie offers a breakthrough for battling skin discoloration & wrinkles. Bioactive Vitamins, Peptides, Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Apple Stems Cells, and Mother Nature’s Best Antioxidants combine forces to provide a Natural Solution for Aging Skin.

The Importance of Natural Skin Care
A little background on the skin care industry and why going all natural is so vital.

At Mad Hippie they strive to make both the safest and most effective products possible while always sticking to their hippie roots and keeping them all natural. They believe that one need not sacrifice the efficacy of a product by choosing to go natural.  In fact, by only exposing your skin to those ingredients that are good, and omitting those that are bad, the overall net positive effect is clearly greater.

Unfortunately, much of the beauty care industry does not feel the same way and this is why an educated consumer in today’s marketplace is so vital.

With the green movement fully underway, many people often forget that what we put on to our skin is just as important as what we put in to our bodies.  More and more studies have shown the ability of topically applied agents to penetrate the skin, so by choosing to go all natural, you are limiting not only your skin’s exposure to many harmful agents, but also that of your entire body.

When searching out safe skin care products one must remember that it is not just the creams, lotions and facial products that that pose a risk, but instead anything that comes in contact with our skin.  This includes deodorants, shampoos, conditioners, makeup, soaps and detergents.  In fact, estrogen-mimicking parabens, one of the most widely used preservatives in personal care products today, are regularly found in the biopsies of breast cancer tissue.  A likely culprit – the parabens found in many deodorants and antiperspirants.

It is time that we stop drawing a line between products that we put in to our body versus those that we put on to our body.  It is time that we start demanding the same quality standards for our personal care products that we do for the foods that we eat.

By choosing to use only natural skin care products, you can rest assured that what you are using is having a net positive effect on your body and skin.  You can take advantage of all of the wonderful, safe, and effective actives available in skin care today, without the unnecessary, harmful chemical additives and preservatives.

So, why do many skin care companies continue to put harmful chemicals into their products?
The truth is often greed.  These unnatural, synthetic preservatives, fragrances and petrochemicals are much cheaper than the natural alternatives.  For many of these profit driven companies, the health of the consumer takes a backseat to profits, and quarterly earnings.

Well, what about the FDA, don’t they protect us from unsafe skin care products?
Unfortunately, no.  The FDA has no jurisdiction over the beauty care industry.  This means that companies literally have free reign to put almost anything they want into their products.  While there are many smaller, green-minded companies now making safe products, the industry is still riddled with irresponsible companies making harmful products filled with cheap synthetic ingredients, many of which have been linked to cancer.

This is why it is so important to use only natural skin care products.  Think of your purchase as a vote.  If you choose to only vote for safe and natural products, the industry will have no choice but to listen.  Companies will either improve the safety of their formulations or risk going out of business.  Either way, the industry will be bettered.

So remember, when you choose to buy natural you are doing so for the safety of your skin, for the safety of your body, and for the safety of those around you. You are saying you will not support irresponsible companies that put their profits before the health of their customers.

While it’s easy to feel like one person cannot make a difference, there is power in the masses, and if we all join together, it’s amazing the changes we can make.  Skin care is just the beginning.
