No, there are way too many risks that they are not willing take while producing this product. Example is Salmonella.
Are the sesame seeds hulled? How is this done?
Their sesame seeds are hulled, which means that the shells are taken off. The hulls are taken off in a processing plant and are mechanically hulled as opposed to a brine water process.
Are their products Gluten Free?

They do not roast their sesame seeds with oil.
Do they test for Aflatoxin?
Aflatoxin is a chemical created by mold. Some molds are beneficial; such as penicillin. Some molds make food have a wonderful taste such as cheese; and some molds can be dangerous i.e. the aflatoxin mold. Cooking does not destroy aflatoxin. Aflatoxin can occur in peanuts, nuts, dried fruit, corn, and other grains. Only peanuts are tested multiple times by the USDA. Samples are drawn and tested by the FDA at harvest and again after shelling. Peanuts and peanut butter are perhaps the safest of foods to consume if you are concerned about aflatoxin. They make sure that all of their peanuts are tested for aflatoxin before they purchase them. But they don't just rely on that data alone; they also test their peanut butter for aflatoxin after it is produced.
Do their suppliers use any pesticides, sprays, or solutions of any kind on their almonds?
They buy their almonds from the shellers which buy the almonds from hundreds of growers. Therefore if you are concerned about pesticides, they recommend that you buy Organic Almond Butter.
Do The flowers that the Bees use for their honey have pesticides sprayed on them?
All honeys in the USA with the exception of Hawaii, are now natural, there are no more certified organic honeys in the USA. This is because bees fly within a 5 mile radius of the hives and pesticides are used on neighboring crops and fields that bees pollinate. Therefore, their natural local honeys are not organic. Their organic honeys are from Central and South American rain forests where pesticides are not an issue.
How are their almonds pasteurized?
All USA almonds must be pasteurized according to the FDA. A flash/steam pasteurization process is utilized.

aw almond butter has a sweeter milder taste than roasted almond butter. There are opinions that raw foods are believed to be higher in nutrient density due to less exposure to heat thus reducing a foods nutrient value. However, they believe the main difference is in the flavor only.
What are the ingredients in their nut butters?
Their recipes are surprisingly simple, most of their nut butters contain just one ingredient, nuts. However, in the case of cashew butter, they add a small amount of organic sunflower or safflower oil to the cashew butter to make it spreadable. The organic cashew has organic sunflower oil added. The Organic American Classic Peanut Butter has salt, sugar, and organic palm fruit oil added to the organic peanuts. The Organic Sunflower Butter has salt and sugar added to the organic sunflower seeds. They do make a salt and sugar free version. Otherwise, they just use ground nuts or seeds to make their butters. They only use what is clearly stated on each of the products' ingredient label.

In the last 20 years or so, the incidence of food allergies has increased significantly. While they do a really good job of making sure their products are separated, there is still a small risk of cross contamination; therefore, they recommend that any person with a health threatening allergy avoid their nut butter products.

What is the difference between Organic and Natural?
The term "natural" has no clear definition but often is used when simple easily understood ingredients are combined to create a recipe. Organic foods have been certified that no pesticides were used in the process. The term "organic" when applied to food can only be used if the food meets all the requirements of the Organic Food Act that was passed by Congress in the early 90's. Organic covers all aspects of growing a crop including the use of compost, natural fertilizers, and synthetic fertilizers. Restriction in the use of non-approved chemicals is part of the required routine. Processing facilities such as theirs must keep organic ingredients in a storage area that does not have chemicals or other pesticides. Certification of farms and processors is required at least once a year or more.

Why doesn't their honey have a safety seal?
Due to customer demand, they hope to change this in the near future.
Why is the almond butter runny?
The moisture level of the almonds are to low. Since the pasturizing law came into effect it has changed the makeup of the almonds and has made the drying process more difficult. There is nothing wrong with the product.
Why is there oil at the top of the jar?
Oil separation is a natural occurrence. Peanuts, cashews, almonds, sesame seeds, and sunflower seeds all have oil separation that may occur after they are ground into butter. All of these nut/seeds contain from 50% to 60% naturally occurring oil. The oil is lighter than the ground nuts or seeds so the oil floats to the top. The national brand peanut butters do not separate because they use hydrogenated oil to stop separation. All hydrogenated oil contains trans-fats. If the actual level of trans-fats is below .50 the product label may read zero trans-fats. Specifically, the rule for trans fats are less than 0.50 may be declared as zero on the product label. What this means is that their typical nut butter product may declare zero trans fats, but actually contains up to and including .49 trans fats. Once Again Nut Butters have no trans fats, whatsoever, so enjoy!
Their organic peanut butter no longer has peanut skins in it. Why?
There was a crop shortage of Valencia peanuts which is what they were previously making their organic peanut butter with. They hope to be able to source Valencia peanuts again in the future.
A better package, made better for the environment, can only be the right way. Once Again packages all nut butters in glass. They utilize recycled glass to maintain a small environmental footprint. Glass is the only packaging material that the US Food and Drug Administration deems, "Generally Recognized as Safe." Glass is largely inert, and therefore, neither gives off chemicals to the packages' contents, nor absorbs chemicals from those contents. Glass packaging's excellent barrier properties not only keep external contaminants, including odors, away from the product, but also prevent oxygen from entering and causing spoilage. So their nut butters have a longer shelf life and require no preservatives, which is a good thing.
Their glass jars may be recycled. When recycled, a glass jar may be melted down and reformed into another glass container, over and over again, through recycling. Recycled glass is not limited in the number of its useful life cycles; nor does it have to be "down-cycled" - that is, recycled only into lower-value products as some other packaging materials must, such as paper or plastics. Glass, which uses much less energy than other packaging materials, retains a significant portion of the energy used to make it the first time and is easier and less energy-intensive to re-melt and reform: when you recycle one glass bottle you save enough energy to power a 100-watt light bulb for four hours (or, if you are truly active in conserving energy, a 11-watt compact fluorescent bulb for a day and a half).
More than 50% of each container they use is from glass that has been recycled. Their containers meet the highest standards in the US for post-consumer recycled content as set by California, Florida and Oregon. The materials in their glass jars are made of primarily sand, limestone and soda ash-are themselves earth-friendly and slag and other significant solid waste by-products are not produced when the jars were made.
Their glass supplier does not use brick containing chrome or heavy metals in the construction of the furnace block that holds the glass while it is being melted (2800 degrees Fahrenheit). Even though those furnaces would last longer, chrome-bearing brick, when thrown away must be sent to and handled in special hazardous disposal facilities, and so, their supplier has chosen to be environmentally friendly.
Their furnaces do not use air, as most glass furnaces around the world do. Air is almost 80% nitrogen. Using air to burn fuels at the high temperatures in which glass furnaces operate, converts some of that nitrogen to nitrogen oxide, or NOx, which, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is "one of the main ingredients involved in the formation of ground-level ozone. It can trigger serious respiratory problems, contributes to the formation of acid rain and to nutrient overload, deteriorating water quality. This contributes to atmospheric particles that cause visibility impairment, most noticeably in national parks. There, it reacts to form toxic chemicals and contributes to global warming. So, their supplier uses a mixture that is over 90% oxygen, injects it with natural gas - which is much cleaner than oil - into the glass furnace and thus produces far less NOx, than if air is used. Is this a more expensive way to produce their glass jars? Yes. Could they get glass somewhere else where there are lower or no political or monetary consequences of pollution? Yes. They could have, but have decided to take the higher road. A better package, made better for the environment, can only be the right way.
They manufacture peanuts, almonds, cashews, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, and soy products here at OANB. They have dedicated equipment, and areas to segregate these commodities as much as possible, but there is still a possibility of cross-contamination. Therefore, they suggest that it is better to be safe than sorry when it comes to allergens.

About Once Again
Jeremy Thaler and Constance Potter met while establishing Mifflin Street Co-op in Madison, Wisconsin. They shared common belief in the importance of herbal supplements, worker-owned cooperatives, organic and sustainable farming and the power of community. Upon leaving Madison and moving to Rochester, New York, they established a worker cooperative distribution called Clear Eye Distribution, and a whole-grain bakery that also produced granola using a barrel roaster.
A chance question from a friend, "You have a barrel roaster, why don't you use it to make peanut butter? " led Jeremy to the peanut butter business. In 1976, Once Again Nut Butter was born. When Jeremy and Connie left Rochester for a more rural area, they moved the company into their 800 square foot basement and manufactured peanut butter there until they purchased the current facility in 1981.

So what about their raccoon?
Four baby raccoons, referred to as kits, grew up on the factory grounds. They were apparently orphans, and really enjoyed their nut butters. The Once Again Family adopted them, one of whom was lovingly named, Rocky. Their kits were very friendly, and adored their office. So...in turn, they adopted them and created their company logo in their honor.
The Once Again Family helped the raccoons in their early months then released them into the forest. To this day, their byproducts are donated to area farms or to nature lovers who often use their products as animal and bird foods. Their raccoon has become a symbol of their wholesome nature, their closeness and responsibility to the earth and the nature of their product.
