Seventh Generation Chlorine Free Regular 24 Maxi Pads

Seventh Generation Chlorine Free Regular 24 Maxi Pads features secure, no-slip adhesive and a soft, cloth-like cover for comfort.  Now you can get the absorbency and comfort you want in a maxi pad that’s chlorine-free.  Their pads are made of a combination of absorbent materials, polyolefins, adhesives, and a silicone-coated paper. The top layer is a non-woven polyolefin cover sheet. The absorbent materials consist of chlorine free wood pulp, and Lysorb, an absorbent gel. Lysorb, also known as SNAP (super absorbent natural polymer), is a polysaccharide derived from wheat.

  • Not whitened with chlorine
  • Safer for sensitive skin - no dyes or fragrances
  • Soft, cloth-like for comfort
  • Reliable protection for moderate flow
  • Secure, no-slip adhesive

Most pads and pantiliners use abosrbent fibers that have been whitened using chlorine-containing substances which creates dangerous toxins, like dioxin.  Studies have shown a direct link between dioxin exposure in the environment and cancer, birth defects, and reproductive disorders.  The abosorbent fibers in Seventh Generation pads and pantiliners are chlorine free.  They also use a natural absorbent material derived from wheat.  You've made a healthy choice for your body.

Seventh Generation is committed to becoming the world's most trusted brand of authentic, safe, and environmentally-responsible products for a healthy home. For 20 years, the closely held Burlington, Vermont-based company has been at the forefront of a cultural change in consumer behavior and business ethics.

One of the country's first self-declared "socially responsible" companies, Seventh Generation is a business that operates according to a new and different set of principles and values that in many ways are a marked departure from those long considered "traditional." Its business practice is focused on offering people avenues to express their idealism, passion, and commitment to causes larger than themselves at every point along its supply chain—from suppliers and partners to shareholders, customers and its own staff.

The company derives its name from the Great Law of the Iroquois that states, "In our every deliberation, we must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations." Every time you use a Seventh Generation product you are making a difference by saving natural resources, reducing pollution, keeping toxic chemicals out of the environment and making the world a safer place for this and the next seven generations.

Educating This and Future Generations
Seventh Generation is committed to helping consumers make informed choices.  Seventh Generation provides information in several formats: on packaging, on this Web site, in 7Gen News (look in the upper right corner on any Seventh Generation web page to sign up) and in booklets and presentations by Jeffrey Hollender, company co-founder, as well as other members of our community.

A complete line of non-toxic household products
Seventh Generation brand-name products include: non-chlorine bleached, 100% recycled paper towels, bathroom and facial tissues, and napkins; non-toxic, phosphate-free cleaning, dish and laundry products; plastic trash bags made from recycled plastic; chlorine-free baby diapers, training pants, and baby wipes; and chlorine-free feminine care products, including organic cotton tampons.

Their donations program
They dedicate 10% of their profits to non-profit community, environmental, health, and responsible business organizations working for positive change.

Please don't flush used pads or pantiliners; they can damage sewage and septic systems.  Wrap the pad or liner and throw it away.

Please keep this plastic bag away from young children.  Recycle it where facilities exist.

Our pads are made of a combination of absorbent materials, polyolefins, adhesives, and a silicone-coated paper. The top layer is a non-woven polyolefin cover sheet. The absorbent materials consist of TCF (totally chlorine free) wood pulp, and Lysorb, an absorbent gel. Lysorb, also known as SNAP (super absorbent natural polymer), is a polysaccharide derived from wheat. Polysaccharides are complex sugars found in many natural substances, like the fibers of cotton, wood, and wheat.

Although not perfect for my needs, they are the best I've come across so far. I like that they are individually wrapped in a plastic-like cover, which can be used to dispose of used pads.
