Frequently Asked Questions
Where is Ziggy Marley Organics' coconut oil sourced?
There are many areas around the world where coconut oil is harvested. They source Coco’Mon from the Philippines but other producing regions are India, Sir Lanka, Mexico, Brazil and Indonesia.
What does Cold-Pressed mean?
Cold Pressed is a form of expeller pressing used for delicate oils. No external heat or harmful chemicals like Hexane are used in this process and temperature does not exceed 118 degrees F. Some companies use the term “virgin” or “extra virgin” when describing their product. Unfortunately there are no recognized “virgin” standards for coconut oils like there are with olive oils. Ziggy Marley Organics prefers to be as transparent as possible regarding how they produce our delicious oils.
What is the best way to cook with coconut oil?
Stove top cooking, wok stir fry and as baking ingredients are an excellent way to put Coco’Mon into your favorite meals. Just substitute coconut oil for butter or margin in any recipe. Ziggy Marley Organics recommends melting 2 Tbsp. of Coco’Mon in a sauce pan, browning your ingredients and then lightly finishing your dish with a Tbsp. from the jar for flavor.
My coconut oil is liquid. Is it still OK to use?
Absolutely. Coconut oil melts around 76 degrees F. Above 76 degrees F and it will be clear liquid. Below that and it will be a white solid. Coco’Mon works great in either state.
Do I need to refrigerate coconut oil?
Nope. Coconut oil does not require refrigeration unless you want it to be solid all the time.
My coconut oil is slightly yellow or brown. Is it still OK?
It is. Coco’Mon oils are unrefined (so you know they contain all the good and none of the bad) and occasionally natural coconut fibers impart a slight color to the oil. It is perfectly good to use.
Why were there questions about the health of coconut oil?
Previously, coconut oils and palm oils contained hydrogenated fats and were processed using chemical synthetics like Hexane. Ziggy Marley Organics' coconut oils are all trans fat free, non-hydrogenated, unbleached, are cold pressed and delicious. They are not processed with hexane. Also, coconut oil is an excellent source of medium chain triglycerides (MCIs) that contain lauric acid (C-12) and caprylic acid (C-8).
Are Coco’Mon oils Vegan?
Yes as well as USDA Organic, non-GMO Project verified, Gluten-free certified and Kosher.
Can I use coconut oil in my hair and on my skin?
Ziggy Marley Organics Original non-flavored Coco’Mon is excellent to apply to your skin as a moisturizer or in your hair for overall beauty as it is not flavored. You can use the flavored varieties if you like a little fragrance.

Given the choice between something that was genetically modified and something from nature, Ziggy Marley would choose the stuff that's from nature. He doesn't want to put anything in his body that's not natural, that wasn't created by nature, because we are a part of nature.
