- The dense fibers in bamboo cane give the plant flexibility, allowing it to bend without snapping
- Bamboo is naturally designed for strength and tests demonstrate that it is stronger than some alloys of steel
- Bamboo is clocked as the fastest growing plant on Earth. Some species have been measured to grow over 4 feet in a mere 24 hours.
- Bamboo can be continuously re-harvested every three years, without causing damage to the plant system and its surrounding environment
Doctors recommend wearing sunglasses whenever a person is outdoors during all seasons of the year, and especially while driving. Research has shown that wearing sunglasses during the day can also improve night vision. When choosing sunglasses, physicians advise to purchase a pair that guarantees UVA and UVB protection. In addition, ophthalmologists recommend adding polarization filtering to sunglass lenses for additional vision support and overall ocular health. Wear Panda Sunglasses have polarized lenses in order to give optimal protection against the sun's harsh rays. The larger the lenses, the better coverage your eyes will receive.
What is Panda?
Wear Panda is on a journey to change the environmental and social impact of sunglasses. Panda produces high-end sunglasses handcrafted from sustainable bamboo and recycled polycarbonates. What's more, each purchase gives the gift of vision to someone in need. Through their partnership with The TOMA Foundation, Panda has found a unique opportunity to help grow organically alongside a non-profit organization. Panda originated in the Paper Mill tucked away in the historic Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C.
Three friends. One vision.
PANDA was founded by a group of Georgetown students that had gone their separate ways upon graduation. Reunited by an idea to revolutionize the ethilca and social impact of sunglasses, they combined their backgrounds, experiences and passions into one singular mission. PANDA was developed to fill a void in conscious capitalism, a trail-blazing sunglasses company that offered innovative accessories where the individual designs were just as important as the product's ethical, environmental and social impact.
Determined to make their vision a reality, the PANDA Team shared their concept with the crowd-funding community at Kickstarter.com. With overwhelming support, PANDA reached their fundraising goal in only 3 days. PANDA Sunglasses was born in early 2012 with the help of 300 generous supporters.
As an Austin-native, one of the Panda founders grew up alongside the Tribal Outreach Medical Assistance Foundation (TOMA) and witnessed their struggle to raise funds for their international medical aid trips after the 2008 financial crisis. PANDA
sunglasses are created with a purpose - with each purchase, PANDA provides the gift of vision - a free eye exam and eyewear to a person in need through the TOMA Foundation.
Buy A Pair, Give A Pair.
Panda seeks to increase the social responsibility of business. Through the partnership with The TOMA Foundation, Panda has found a unique opportunity to help grow organically alongside a non-profit organization. More importantly, their close relationship allows them the benefits of easy access, partnered volunteer work, and the maximization of customer donations.
For every pair you purchase, the PANDA-TOMA partnership will provide an eye or medical exam to a person in need. They will also donate a pair of prescription glasses or sunglasses (for those with cataracts or a similar type of eye deficiency). For this reason, and from the charitable purchases from customers, PANDA is honored to team with TOMA in order to facilitate the GIFT OF VISION.
The Tribal Outreach Medical Assistance (TOMA) Foundation was founded in response to a malaria epidemic in the Amazonas region of Venezuela that claimed the lives of hundreds of people among the Yanomami tribe. After witnessing the suffering and devastation, TOMA vowed to dedicate themselves to those in need around the world. TOMA's volunteer work spans multiple countries from Venezuela and Colombia to those in need in India. With your help, they can transform the way companies do business and change the lives of so many during the ride.
