Pure Fun Loony Lemon candies will brighten your taste buds! The lemon is a citrus fruit known for its tangy acidity. Tree-ripened lemons are especially sweet, and are often picked green to allow for more tartness. This cultivated hybrid has origins in the wild mandarin and citron fruits and has been a presence in various cultures for thousands of years. Though the location of the first lemon-cultivation is uncertain, it seems that lemons first became common in the Mediterranean area. Lemons served some interesting purposes after making their European debut in the 11th century. Their biting juice reddened the lips of the women of Louis XIV’s court, and lemon juice is in fact still employed as an ingredient in some lip glosses. Additionally, lemons were used (along with limes) by sailors, including those of the British Royal navy, to combat scurvy with their high vitamin C content.Orange Slice
Pure Fun Orange Slices remind you of delicious orange blossoms. The exact location of origin of citrus fruits is not clearly identified, although most researchers place it in South-East Asia, at least 4000 years BC. There are actually different legends about the origin of citrus. The spread of citrus fruits from Asia to Europe was slow. First, citrus fruits were taken to North Africa and then, probably by the fall of the Roman Empire, they entered the South of Europe, where they flourished in the Middle Ages. Citrus fruits were brought to America by the Spaniards (Columbus took seeds of citrus fruits with him in his second trip) and the Portuguese in their exploration trips to the New World, around year 1500. It is believed that the word "orange" originates from Sanskrit. Sweet orange oil is a by-product of the juice industry produced by pressing the peel. It is used as a flavoring of food and drink. Oranges are widely grown in warm climates worldwide, and the flavours of orange vary from sweet to sour. The fruit is commonly peeled and eaten fresh, or squeezed for its juice. It has a thick bitter rind that is usually discarded, but can be processed into animal feed by removing water using pressure and heat. It is also used in certain recipes as flavouring or a garnish. The outer-most layer of the rind is grated or thinly veneered with a tool called a zester, to produce orange zest, popular in cooking because it has a flavour similar to the fleshy inner part of the orange. The white part of the rind, called the pericarp or albedo and includes the pith, is a source of pectin and has nearly the same amount of vitamin C as the flesh. Mediterranean counties are the leading area as producers for the international fresh market and Spain plays a dominant role in the area. Most orange juice production is concentrated in only two areas, Sao Paulo in Brazil and Florida in United States of America. Brazil is by far the largest orange juice exporter. Lime Slice
Pure Fun Lime Slices taste like they’re fresh picked. Limes are small, sharp tasting green oval citrus fruits with porous and smooth skin the smallest members of the true citrus family and native to Southeast Asia or India. It is difficult to determine when the lime was first taken into cultivation as surviving documents do not distinguish it from other citrus fruits. An Indian medical work c.100 CE refers to both the lemon and the lime as 'jambira', and later Arabic works seem to have used two words when referring to both. For the western world:" ": was first mentioned by Sir Thomas Herbert in 1677 when he referenced a site near the coast of Mozambique. Yes You Cane

Essential blood sugars and the energy required for an active and healthy lifestyle are provided by a moderate intake of foods containing sugar. The brain requires blood sugars for its normal daily function. Sugars are the simplest form of carbohydrate. They are found in foods throughout nature: in fruits, vegetables, nectar, honey and milk. The simple sugars - glucose and fructose - are found in nearly all plants. Sometimes they occur together as sucrose, which is simply a combination of glucose and fructose. We know sucrose as sugar, the major source of which is sugar cane. Carbohydrates are broken down and used by the body as glucose, a major energy source. After digestion, the body does not distinguish between sugar derived from sugar cane and sugars which are found in fruits and vegetables.
From the earliest days, sugar has been a popular food ingredient and part of a healthy diet. These properties have earned sugar its rightful place as the Gold Standard of sweeteners. It is reassuring to know that unlike synthetic sweeteners, real sugar does not need warning labels. It's sweet and it's natural.
We hear so many bad things about sugar – like how it makes you overweight, diabetic, hyperactive, not to mention that it can rot your teeth. But the truth is not all sugar is bad for you. You’ll find natural sugars in most fruit, some vegetables, and even in milk. And you’ll find natural, chemical-free evaporated organic cane sugar in Pure Fun candies! We’re born craving the taste of sugar. So go ahead and satisfy this natural craving with a moderate-sized treat made from wholesome natural evaporated cane sugar.
