Frequently Asked Questions
What sets you apart from other blenders?
The Blendtec Tabletop Home Blender is unique in power, shape and technology. There is a square pitcher, pre-programmed blend cycles, and a 1560-watt motor.
What are the blend cycles?
Blend Cycles are unique to Blendtec. They have developed electronics in their blenders to allow the blender to speed up and slow down during a timed cycle - this allows you to press one button. Food will move, shift, and drop into the surface of the blade. When the cycle is complete, the blender automatically stops.
Why a square blender pitcher?
Blendtec developed this design with science in mind. Your ingredients don't swirl like in a traditional round blender, they hit the sides of the square pitcher and fall back into the blade.
Is it easy to clean?
Yes! All parts are easy to wipe clean with a damp cloth. The pitcher can be cleaned by simply filling 1-4 cups of warm water and 1 drop of dish soap. Press the pulse button. Rinse and dry.
Can I make hot soup?
By pressing the soup button, ingredients can reach temperatures in excess of 110 degrees Fahrenheit. Blendtec recommends using warm tap water and your other ingredients for soup. They do not recommend hot, boiling water poured into the pitcher. If you want your soup hotter, finish heating it on the stove.
How do you load your pitcher properly?
The easiest way to load your pitcher is to remember liquids first, softer ingredients in the middle, hardest ingredients and ice on top. This will result in a faster blend and longer pitcher life.
Does the blender grind wheat?
Yes! You can add 1-2 cups of wheat berries or other grains into your pitcher. By grinding, your pitcher will become permanently cloudy. This is just cosmetic and will not harm or hamper your food. Blendtec suggests buying a separate pitcher for wheat.
How does the blade blend? It looks dull.
The blade is designed to pull ingredients from the top of the pitcher, and a dull blade crushes ingredients rather than slicing them.
How much fits in the pitcher?
The Basic Pitcher holds approximately 2 quarts. When you add ingredients, you want to fill it about halfway to allow room for blending. The WildSide pitcher holds approximately 3 quarts. This allows you to make larger batches, but again, fill only about half way.
Who is the guy in the Will It Blend? videos?
Tom Dickson is the founder, owner, and CEO of Blendtec. His background is in engineering and he always likes taking things to the extreme.
Why blend all of this strange stuff?
Blendtec wanted to show people that if their blenders could handle a rake, some marbles, or a baseball, that they could easily manage frozen fruit, whole foods, and ice.
How long have you been doing Will It Blend?
Tom Dickson has always tortured his test designs. This led to the first Will It Blend? video which was posted on YouTube in October 2006.
Where do you film Will It Blend?
They film the episodes onsite at their corporate offices in Orem, Utah. After the huge success of the first few videos, they dedicated part of their building to a studio.
Long before the Will It Blend? series exploded on YouTube, Tom Dickson was blending 2x2s with his blenders to determine their capability. As an engineer and inventor, Tom grew up putting big engines in little things.
Back in 1975, Tom's curiosity came between a vacuum and some spilled wheat kernels. His innate inquisitiveness drove him to revolutionize the home wheat milling industry, taking it from stone grinding to his patented stainless steel milling heads. Like most inventors, Tom didn't stop here, he envisioned the perfect mixer using the freshly milled flour from his mill to make wholesome bread in minutes. While back in the lab, Tom developed the auto-knead button, allowing the mixer to knead the dough, develop the gluten, and turn off automatically when finished. Tom continued to improve the mixer and decided to add a blender with a square pitcher, rather than the conventional round-shaped pitcher. As Tom grew his mill and mixer business, new ideas developed and he enhanced the blender and began developing commercial blending machines just as the smoothie era began.
Fast forward to the next century, Tom is still inventing and the company is still growing! Walking into the world of Team Blendtec, you'll find the innovative engineering team and their "torture chamber," the international team seeing where their travels take them next, and you will still find Tom around the plant, scooting off to blend up his next invention.
Today, all around the world, people use Blendtec blenders in their homes, restaurants, smoothie shops, coffee shops, and more. They continue to keep dreaming of new and better ways to build machines that improve the lives of others. It all began with one man and his curiosity. He has shared that vision with others, and with his team, the dream continues to unfold.
