Omega 3-6-9 Emu Oil Topical Skin Therapy for Pets by Nutra Origin
Nutra Origin Omega 3-6-9 Emu Oil Topical Skin Therapy for Pets - 4 oz. (118ml)
Nutra Origin's Pets Emu Oil contains ultra-purified, molecularly distilled emu oil - providing a balance of Omega-3, Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids - to treat dry skin, dull coat and hot spots. Cats, dogs and ferrets are not immune to dry skin. Nutra Origin Omega 3-6-9 Emu Oil deeply penetrates the skin to provide excellent moisturization. When an animal's skin is stripped of the oils that keep it moisturized, the skin dries out, which may lead to excessive scratching and flakiness. A lack of Omega fatty acids in the diet can additionally create other problems, such as a dull coat and excessive shedding. NutraOrigin Pets Emu Oil is the perfect solution. Applied topically, not only is Emu Oil a deeply penetrating natural moisturizer, but its content of Omega fatty acids promotes a shiny, full coat and minimizes shedding. And the oil's anti-inflammatory action may help hot spots to heal.

How Nutra Origin Omega 3-6-9 Emu Oil works:
Chances are, you moisturize your own skin every day to keep it moist, supple and healthy - especially in the winter. Cats, dogs and ferrets aren't so different from humans. They can suffer from dry skin just like all of use can, which can cause excessive scratching and flaky skin.
Emu oil is a natural moisturizer that penetrates deeply to get to the heart of dry skin. One group of researchers thinks they know why. By analyzing the fatty acids composition of emu oil through gas chromatography, they discovered it has a high concentration of monounsaturated fatty acids (Omega-9), which allows it to easily penetrate the stratum corneum (the outermost layer of the skin). (1)
A double-blind study in humans found that emu oil, applied topically every day for two weeks, delivered excellent moisturizing properties. Emu oil had better skin penetration than mineral oil and was preferred by all 11 subjects.
If your animal has a dry, dull coat or sheds excessively, he or she may have a deficiency of the Omega-6 fatty acid linoleic acid (LA). This fatty acid is considered the most important to healthy skin and a shiny, glossy coat.
Emu oil is incredibly rich in LA. It penetrates deeply into the hair shaft to support a shiny, full coat.
Skin and Hair Growth
Researchers at Boston University Medical Center studied the effect of topical emu oil on skin and hair growth in mice. Two groups of mice had their hair removed. One group received a topical application of emu oil every day for 14 days; the other group received a placebo (corn oil). Amazingly, by the end of the study, the mice receiving emu oil experienced a 29 percent increase in skin cell proliferation compared to the mice that got corn oil. Additionally, analysis of the mice's hair follicles showed they were stimulated to proliferate and grow.
Skin sores - whether small lesions or gaping wounds - can develop in pets for any number of reasons. What may start as a flea bite can become a skin sore if the pet scratches, bites and chews at it, causing irritation and inflammation.
Two studies in rats have shown that topical emu oil alleviates the inflammation of wounds and accelerates wound healing. Another study researched emu oil's effect on wound healing in humans. The participants acted as their own controls: wounds on one half of their bodies were treated with emu oil; wounds on the other half were treated with placebo oil. Neither the researchers nor the subjects knew which oil was which. After six months, the scars were assessed to see how well they had healed. Overall, emu-treated areas healed significantly better than placebo-treated areas. Scars that had been treated with emu oil also showed better pigmentation and more pliability.
Hot spots are raw, open, inflamed sores caused by a surface skin infection. They are not only unattractive, but itchy and painful for your pet.
Several studies in mice and rats have shown that emu oil has powerful anti-inflammatory activity, so it may help inflamed hot spots to heal. In fact, one study found that topical application of emu oil to mice with inflamed skin decreased two measure of inflammation (IL-1 aplha and TNF-alpha) by 70 and 60 percent respectively within six hours.
Shake before using. Apply to the affected skin area to reduce suffering of skin ailments.
