Calcium
Calcium is the most abundant, essential mineral in the human body. Of the two to three pounds of calcium contained in the average body, 99% is located in the bones and teeth. Calcium is needed to form bones and teeth and is also required for blood clotting, transmission of signals in nerve cells, and muscle contraction. The importance of calcium for preventing osteoporosis is probably its most well-known role.

Where is it found?
Most dietary calcium comes from dairy products. The myth that calcium from dairy products is not absorbed is not supported by scientific research. Other good sources include sardines, canned salmon, green leafy vegetables, and tofu.

The fat-soluble vitamin D’s most important role is maintaining blood levels of calcium, which it accomplishes by increasing absorption of calcium from food and reducing urinary calcium loss. Both effects keep calcium in the body and therefore spare the calcium that is stored in bones. When necessary, vitamin D transfers calcium from the bone into the bloodstream, which does not benefit bones. Although the overall effect of vitamin D on the bones is complicated, some vitamin D is necessary for healthy bones and teeth.
Where is it found?
Cod liver oil is an excellent dietary source of vitamin D, as are vitamin D-fortified foods. Traces of vitamin D are found in egg yolks and butter. However, the majority of vitamin D in the body is created during a chemical reaction that starts with sunlight exposure to the skin. Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) is the animal form of this vitamin.

My son, who is now 4.5 years old, has been taking this calcium supplement since he turned 2. He has a very restricted diet due to severe food allergies and lots of other calcium supplements on the market for kids contain milk.
He loves them and they are definitely easier to take than the usual tablet form or liquid form. Both the latter 2 can be pretty chalky and once chewed up, becomes a thick pasty consistency making it hard to swallow for an adult let alone a child.
Easy to take, convenient, affordable it how I would sum up this product. My only complaint would be I wish it had a lower sugar content but I guess this is one of the reasons why my son never complains about taking them.

We originally received a sample with the vitamins, and my kids were sold on it right away. It is part of their daily regimen now.

My daughter loves these. It has been very dificult to find a vitamin D/calcium chew due to all of her food allergies. This is the only one I have found that was dairy, gluten and wheat free just to name a few; and at a reasonable price.

My daughter likes them. I ordered them by accident, thought I was getting a multivitamin. Only issue is they are VERY sweet and covered in sugar. Not sure if I will repurchase.
