What Does "Free & Clear" Mean?
"Free" refers to the absence of added fragrances. Seventh Generation carefully selects ingredients that have minimal scent so that fragrances are not necessary. Some conventional products that are called “Free” actually use masking agents to cover the scent of their ingredients. Masks are fragrances that do not have a strong odor of their own, but can "overload" the olfactory sense so other fragrances are difficult to detect, too.

"Clear" is used to indicate that no dyes or pigments are added to the cleaning product. The dyes and pigments used in most conventional cleaning products are not biodegradable, and have aquatic toxicity.

A complete line of non-toxic household products

Load Dishwasher -  Make sure items can be safely washed in a dishwasher.  Silver, aluminum and stainless steel should be washed in seperate loads to avoid discoloration.  Load items with soiled surfaces facing the center and keep tailer itesm away from the center of the bottom rack.

Add Detergent - Fill both pre-wash and main wash cups completely.  Use less detergent for soft water/smaller loads.  For very hard water we recommend using their Rinse Aid. 

Sodium carbonate (water softener and alkalinity builder), sodium sulfate and sodium chloride (promote flowability), citric acid (water softener), sodium silicate (protection agent and alkalinity builder), polyaspartic acid (water softener and anti-filming agent), ppg-10-laureth-7 (anti-spotting agent), sodium percarbonate (removes stains and water softener), protease and amylase (enzyme soil removers). I''ve tried a few eco brands of dishwasher powder, and I keep coming back to Seventh Generation. It works well, it''s the right price, and it doesn''t have any side effects (such as being really dusty and accidentally inhale-able like some other brands.)

We love using Seventh Generation Free and Clear dishwashing soap! We have used this brand for many years and take comfort in the fact that it is not toxic for the environment and not too bad on your wallet. It is: -Eco friendly -Chlorine Free -Made of a biodegradable formula -Artifical Dye Free -Artifical Fragrance Free
