What is Resveratrol?
Resveratrol is an extremely potent antioxidant (part of the family called polyphenols) found in certain fruits and vegetables. In nature, the highest concentration is found in grapes.
Many researchers believe that Resveratrol is primarily responsible for what's called "The French Paradox:" the observation that the people of France, in general, enjoy good cardiovascular health even though their diet is high in fat.
A large number of in vitro and in vivo studies have shown that Resveratrol may increase the lifespan in human cells, reduce oxidative stress damage to the cardiovascular system by neutralizing free radicals, and help support the body's natural defenses.
Although human trials are in their infancy the wide body of research to date suggests that Resveratrol may:

The Right Kind of Resveratrol
There are two different kinds of Resveratrol— "cis" and "trans" Resveratrol. Studies show that the Trans form is the key health-promoting ingredient. The best kind is natural, but, of course, you would need to drink an excessive amount of wine a day to achieve that. Trans-resveratrol is more biologically active and beneficial and is the form that has been the subject of the vast majority of research.
The Resveratrol in the Resveratrol Traveltime bar comes from two key sources - Resvida and BioVin Advanced French Red Wine Extract. Both are trans-Resveratrol.
In developing the first bar to contain Resveratrol, ResVez has partnered with DSM Nutritionals, the world's leading nutritional ingredient supplier boasting $3 billion a year in sales. DSM, headquartered in the Netherlands, employs 23,000 people worldwide and has locations on five continents. ResVez has elected to use its breakthrough Resvida ingredient which is produced in state of the art facilities in Europe, complying with the strictest safety, health and environmental standards.

The other key source of Resveratrol in Traveltime bar is BioVin Advanced, a unique red wine extract manufactured in France from premium red grapes. This exclusive extract, from grapes harvested in the famed Rhône valley, contains 5% red wine trans-Resveratrol and 30-35% red wine polyphenols, including anthocyanins and other flavanoids. Malcolm has more than 25-years international experience in executive management and business development specializing in health and wellness products. Prior to his successful business career Mr. Nicholl was an award-winning international journalist and author. How It Began
How on earth did you come up with the idea of putting resveratrol into a food bar? What was the genesis of the Traveltime Bar?
That’s what we are often asked—and here is the answer.
It actually all began when Sandy was sharing a glass of wine with a friend and neighbor who asked about Malcolm’s previous business ventures. Sandy talked about Malcolm’s international diet and nutrition company and the best-selling weight loss bars he had helped to develop and market successfully around the world.
Why hadn’t he developed something more fun—like a Chardonnay Bar or Cabernet Bar, they asked each other.
Sandy picked up the phone and called Malcolm. And asked: Why haven’t you created a Wine Bar?
The question switched on the light bulb. In his extensive reading of scientific literature Malcolm had become familiar with the health benefits of resveratrol. His immediate response: By infusing resveratrol into a food bar you would, in effect, create a wine bar.
But surely, someone had already thought of it? Research showed that no-one had, in fact, produced such a bar.
Maybe there was a reason why not? Discussions with resveratrol suppliers, formulators and bar manufacturers indicated that there were no practical handicaps to the production of a “wine bar.” That was March 2009.
Together Sandy and Malcolm determined what ingredients they wanted to blend with resveratrol and, just as importantly, what they didn’t want to include. Working closely with a bar formulator they went through a dozen permutations before deciding on the harmonious blend of rich dark chocolate, dates, almonds and seven other super fruits. They chose two potent forms of resveratrol. At the same time intensive brainstorming produced the product name and the concept behind the packaging design. Nine months later the Resveratrol Traveltime Bar was born and on December 1st, 2009 officially made available.
