Universal Nutrition Ultra Iso Whey Chocolate Shake are complete proteins that provide the essential aminos your body needs. Ultra Iso Whey Chocolate Shake is rich in branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) and glutamine. But not all whey proteins are alike. Some are cleaner and purer than others. Gram for gram, these superior whey protein “isolates” (WPIs) have more protein, less fat and carbs, than their counterparts, whey protein “concentrates” (WPCs). Ultra Iso Whey from Universal Nutrition contains only premium 100% ultrafiltrated whey protein isolates with zero carbs, zero sugar, zero fat, and zero lactose.
While there are distinct differences between WPCs and WPIs, there are also differences between different WPI products, and some whey protein isolate products are purer than others. With Ultra Iso Whey we don¹t add any gums, binders, fillers, and thickeners to weigh the shake down or interfere with the absorption of the protein. We also don¹t use any aspartame. I purchased the chocolate after trying the fruit punch flavor. I like both but I prefer chocolate, especially when making a shake. The flavor reminds me of the chocolate soda (without the bubbles of course) my grandmother used to buy when I was a kid and when mixed, has a sulfur smell which can be a little off putting. I mix mine in a special blender cup with a lid and when drinking with the lid on, I can't smell it. It goes down easy--no chunks or weird tastes. I prefer it with milk when I'm at work, but if I have access to a blender, using water and ice or milk and ice to make a shake is really tasty too. It's a great pre-workout shake to hold me over through the workout or to have after a workout.
