No added corn, soy, yeast, rice, barley, wheat, lactose (milk sugar) and all milk, citrus, fish, egg products, flavorings, salt, artificial sweeteners, colorings, preservatives or salicylates. This product is manufactured at Twinlab's own state-of-the-art facility.
DL-Phenylalanine (DLPA) is marketed as a nutritional supplement for its supposed analgesic and antidepressant activities. DL-Phenylalanine is a mixture of D-Phenylalanine and L-Phenylalanine. The reputed analgesic activity of DL-phenylalanine may be explained by the possible blockage by D-phenylalanine of enkephalin (endorphin) degradation by the enzyme carboxypeptidase A. The mechanism of DL-phenylalanine's supposed antidepressant activity may be accounted for by the precursor role of L-phenylalanine in the synthesis of the neurotransmitters norepinephrine and dopamine. Elevated brain levels of norepinephrine and dopamine are thought to have an antidepressant effect.
Also, as DL-phenylalanine inhibits endorphin degradation, this leads to an inhibition of GABA release in the ventral tegmental neurons (in the midbrain), which results in greater dopamine release. This can explain the analgesic effects following ingestion, D-Phenylalanine is absorbed from the small intestine and transported to the liver via the portal circulation. A small amount of D-phenylalanine appears to be converted to L-phenylalanine. D-Phenylalanine is distributed to the various tissues of the body via the systemic circulation. It appears to cross the blood-brain barrier less efficiently than L-phenylalanine, and so a small amount of an ingested dose of D-phenylalanine is excreted in the urine without penetrating the central nervous system.
Twinlab has had had one simple and over-riding objective for nearly 30 years. To bring you products that are based on the latest science, and are manufactured to the highest level pharmaceutical standards.
This is Twinlab's mission for everything that has their name on it: vitamins, minerals, sports nutrition products, special formulas and amino acids. Twinlab's herbs are sold under the Nature's Herbs brand, and their herbal teas under the Alvita brand, but the commitment and standards are the same.
Twinlab's leadership is reflected in the firsts they have brought to the market:

- The most advanced and complete array of antioxidants
- All-capsule vitamin and mineral line well tolerated by allergic individuals
But Twinlab is not only motivated to be first, they are driven to be best. Twinlab insists on their own manufacturing (trust can't be transferred), which takes place in their state-of-the-art facility in American Fork, Utah.
All told, Twinlab produces more than 500 different products. Why so many?
