Acetyl-L-Carnitine Arginate (ALCA) is a combination of Acetyl-L-Carnitine and L-Arginine. Acetyl-L-Carnitine is an amino acid found in in high concentrations in human heart, liver and sperm cells, where it participates in metabolizing fatty acids into energy by the mitochondria. Acetyl-L-Carnitine works synergistically with CoQ10, an antioxidant and energy co-factor that is found in the inner membrane of the mitochondria. L-Arginine is utilized to produce nitric oxide by the coenzyme tetrahydrobiopterin in endothelial tissues.
Methylselenocysteine is the predominant and most active form of selenium, an essential trace element necessary for the proper function of the antioxidant enzyme glutathione peroxidase.
