Amazon Therapeutic Laboratories - Camu Camu Mega C - 60 Vegetarian Capsules
Amazon Therapeutic Laboratories Camu Camu Mega C. Wild harvested from small lakes in the center of the Amazon jungle. The grape-sized red and purple berries are juiced directly after harvest and then freeze dried onto a tapioca root starch base-an ideal semi-sweet carrier for blending into juices and for use as a supplement in fresh fruit smoothies and candies. The pink powders add a fruity and semi-sweet acid flavor to most types of food and drink. Until recently, Japan bought most of the entire world harvest making Camu-Camu Mega-C a rare commodity even in the Amazon jungle. Today, tribes are beginning to care-take wild plantations and increase production by maintaining local trees. Planting orchards with grafted trees has become more widespread.
This wild jungle berry contains the highest recorded source of vitamin C on the planet! About 20x more vitamin C than oranges or lemons. Much higher than acerola fruit. The fruit also contains natural rutin and bioflavonoids, which increase the effect of vitamin C and provide prime bioavailability. Compared with an orange, Camu-Camu Mega-C contains ten times more trace elements, such as iron, two times more phosphorus, proteins, beta carotene, calcium, vitamin B1, B2 and B3 as well as a comprehensive complex of minerals and amino acids. Tasty whole powers are perfect for smoothies and juices. This species occurs abundantly in wild swamps along rivers and lakes in Peru, and in Amazonian Brazil and Venezuela, often with the base of the trunk under water. During the rainy season, the lower branches are also submerged for long periods

More About Camu-Camu Mega C
The camu-camu, like many other Amazonian fruits, shows an excellent potential for use due to its high vitamin C content, and the use of these natural resources could result in greater development of the Amazonian region. Few studies have been conducted with this fruit, and such studies are necessary in order to develop the required technology to allow for its utilization, thus avoiding or at least decreasing wastage of such a rich raw material. The principle objective of this study was to develop a process for the microencapsulation of camu-camu juice, optimizing the operational conditions. The processing conditions consisted of blanching at a temperature of 95 - 2;°C for 2 min, followed by cooling in an ice bath and juice extraction using a brush type depulper. The juice was dried with gum arabic or malt dextrin in a mini-spray dryer using an air entry temperature of between 100-160°C and wall material concentration varying between 5-35%, in accordance with a factorial experimental design. Both the air entry temperature and the amount of wall material, plus the interaction between the two, gave significant positive effects at the level of 5% probability on the yield of juice powder. The optimum conditions for juice yield and vitamin C retention were established as 15% wall material and an air entry temperature of 150°C.
Amazon Therapeutic Labs
Amazon Therapeutic Laboratories originally came about as a collaboration between Jerome Black, Tom Baldwin, and Shannon Casey- 2 of his long term customers from the early days of the Oregon Exotics Fruit Nursery.
Residing on the big island of Hawaii, Tom and Shannon have since founded and manage a botanical sanctuary of their own known as ULUWEHI FARM & NURSERY, which features several acres of intensively cultivated tropical plants including hard to find Amazon medicinal and wild fruits in order to supply voucher samples for our laboratories. Tom works with the living botanical germplasm of numerous tropical species and Shannon is a trained geneticist familiar with both temperate and tropical genetics.
Their experience with permaculture enables ATL to plan education seminars directly in the Amazon basin and other tropical regions. Together they are developing protocols for sustainable permaculture designs of tropical plant species for food, fiber, and medicines. Tom and Shannon's participation ensures that ATL maintains an ethical approach to plant harvesting and sustainable organic cultivation. Favored by top herbalists, practitioners, and retail stores who require quality, these are certified organic products of high integrity.]
