    About Clove Bud
Clove Bud oil is a strong analgesic for arthritis. Clove is also an antiseptic and stimulating oil useful in mouthwash and gargle. It is a natural sedative and pain reliever and traditionally used to relieve toothaches. Clove buds are the sun-ripe flower buds of a short, slender evergreen tree that bears cloves for at least a century. Believed to be native to Indonesia; now cultivated worldwide, especially in the Philippines, the Molucca Islands and Madagascar. The main oil-producing countries are Madagascar and Indonesia. A native of Indonesia and the Malacca Islands, the Clove is an evergreen tree that grows to about 10 meter (30 feet).

It has bright green leaves and nail-shaped rose-peach flower buds which turn, upon drying, a deep red brown. These are beaten from the tree and dried. The Latin word 'Clavus' means nail shaped, referring to the bud. Clove was much used by the Greeks, Roman and the Chinese for its medicinal value. The Chinese used it to ease toothache and as a breath sweetener, especially when talking to the Emperor. Clove has antiseptic properties and was use in the prevention of contagious diseases, such as the Plague.

The Purity, Quality & Origins of Nature's Alchemy's 100% Pure Essential Oils
Nature's Alchemy requires their essential oil suppliers to verify their testing methods and supply complete quality analysis on each oil. Two of the standards used in identifying and certifying essential oils are the C.A.S. Number and the Specific Gravity of an oil. The chart on the back panel shows both for each essential oil.

The C.A.S. Number is an international Chemical Abstract Services number which is assigned to all essential oils. Each number identifies the essential oil of a specific plant which corresponds to the botanical name listed.

The Specific Gravity of an essential oil is a measurement of the weight ratio of each oil to water, which has a specific gravity of 1.0. This measurement is one of the main criteria used in verifying the purity of an essential oil.

Nature's Alchemy also require two additional pieces of documentation for individual oils from our suppliers:

Certificates of Analysis document the physical analysis of each batch of essential oil they purchase.

Gas Chromatograph Scans verify the chemical constituents of the essential oils and are so sensitive they can detect the presence of solvents if they have been used in the extraction process. This assures us of the high purity of the oils they purchase.

    About Nature's Alchemy
Since time began, scents have been used to enhance, soothe or excite the spirits. What is more evocative than a drift of rose petals on the breeze, or the bracing freshness of piney woods? Chamomile can conjure up tea, home and comfort, while basil can evoke greenness, freshness and spring. How can you experience these and a host of other scents any time of year, simply by opening a bottle? With Nature’s Alchemy Essential Oils, a complete line of pure, naturally distilled botanical essential oils.

For centuries, botanical essential oils–highly concentrated, aromatic oils found in herbs, flowers and trees–have been used to anoint the body, ease the sting of a wound, assure a sound sleep, or turn a simple bath into a rejuvenating or relaxing experience. These feather-light, non-greasy oils can be dissolved in alcohol or mixed with other pure vegetable oils to become a unique part of our personal care regimen.

From religious ceremonies to beauty rituals, essential oils were an integral part of everyday life for our ancestors. The medieval Persian physician Avicenna developed the distillation techniques for extracting these delicate, readily evaporating oils from plants.

Extracting these oils (a very small part of the entire plant) is a painstaking, meticulous process. Avicenna’s discoveries have stood the test of time; the finest quality oils are still distilled using natural methods. For Nature’s Alchemy, they are committed to using only steam-distillation or cold-pressing. Our high-quality oils are scientifically tested for purity and contain no chemical solvents, added alcohol or other extenders.

The experts at Nature’s Alchemy delight in seeking out the rarest desert plants or most exotic tropic foliage to create a rich variety of essential oils. So indulge in a perfumed lotion, try a scented oil massage, or rejuvenate with a refreshing bath. Your mind, body and spirit will thank you.

    Suggested Uses for Essential Oils

    Aromatherapy
Combine essential oils with special massage techniques to relieve stress, soothe the skin or help ease congestion. Many books on aromatherapy techniques can guide you in choosing the right oils to meet your needs.

    Body Care
Give your favorite unscented lotions, bath oils, creams and hair care products an exotic lift by mixing in a touch of essential oil. Or give your hair and scalp a refreshing conditioning treatment by placing a few drops of rosemary or lavender oil directly on your natural bristle hairbrush (which also conditions and protects the bristles).

    Crafts
Create a festive mood around the holidays or a sweetly scented mood for spring by “decorating” your home with the fragrance of essential oils. Potpourri, incense, candles and herbal fragrance pillows make unique, personalized gifts. Include a small bottle of essential oil with your potpourri gift, so the recipient can refresh the mixture throughout the year.

    Culinary
Treat yourself to a distinctive natural flavoring in candies and confections. Pure peppermint oil has been used
commercially for many years to make candy canes and chocolate mints.

    Environmental Fragrance
Bring your favorite essential oil into your bedroom, bathroom or any room in your home by using a diffuser or by placing a drop of oil on a light bulb before turning it on. This same technique can bring a refreshing reminder of home into a hotel room.

    Inhalation and Facial Steam
Steaming hot water with a few drops of a soothing oil like chamomile can be a wonderfully relaxing way to open the pores before a facial treatment. After adding the oil to the steaming water, place a towel over your head and breathe the steam in deeply for several minutes. Take care not to make the water too hot, and keep your face at least six inches from the steaming water.

    Massage
Enhance the naturally sensuous experience of a massage by adding a few drops of your favorite essential oil to an unscented massage oil. With the appropriate oil, your massage can be relaxing, muscle-soothing or energizing.

    Personal Fragrance
Unwind with a spa-like scented bath by adding a few drops of essential oil to your bath water. Or make your own customblended perfume oil by blending a few drops each of your favorite essential oils with a high-quality vegetable oil. Jojoba oil (a plant wax) is highly recommended as the base oil for perfume oils; it will not become rancid and alter your fragrance. Perfume oils are very concentrated and long-lasting; for a less concentrated, lighter scent, make your own perfume by blending essential oils with a pure vegetable-source alcohol.

Concentrated. Not for internal use. Keep out of reach of children.
