Indigo Wild Zum Bar Goat's Milk Soap Oatmeal-Lavender - 3oz

Zum Bar Goat's Milk Soap Oatmeal-Lavender. . . and that’s what’s in their Zum Bars. No synthetic preservatives, no artificial ingredients, no detergents, no phosphates, no artificial colors, no animal testing. With 100% pure essential juju, all-natural goat’s milk, glycerin, vegetable oils and 100% pure essential oils – Zum Bars are 100% nothing. And we think that’s really something…

Scent: Devour the most important shower of the day with a breakfast of lightly sweetened and florally festooned.

Role: Soothes inflamed, oily skin and exfoliates dry, flaky skin.

Quotable: L: We're both pretty low-key artists.
O: Well, Lav gets a lot of work, but she still seems to have a certain indy appeal. And me? I'm the ultimate character actor. I bring exfoliation to an already-talented cast.

All-Natural Goat's Milk Soap
If you're good in this life, maybe you'll come back as a Zum Bar in your next life. This natural soap has the good stuff of goat's milk, 100% pure essential oils, veggie oils, herbs, natural glycerin and natural mineral pigments. But why? Well, it's better than stuff like tallow (beef fat) or PEG-6 methyl ether (a thickener) or tetrasodium EDTA (water softener) or lard (yeah, no explanation necessary).

The bad stuff in un-natural soap is obvious, but some wonderers wonder, "Why use goat's milk?" Well, there's an udder difference in the pH balance of goat's milk. Goat's milk makes their natural soap more akin to the skin than anything else - not too alkaline, not too acidic, but just right. So it doesn't dry skin or leave it feeling oily.

Indigo Wild is hot on the cold-process saponification method. This maintains the integrity of the natural ingredients. As the vegetable oils are mixing they saponify and produces a super-moisturizing by-product called glycerin. Most soap companies remove the glycerin and sell it for extra profit. Not Indigo Wild. It's called glycerin not glycerout. That is one of the many secrets of how Indigo Wild makes the best natural soap.

Indigo Wild loads up their natural soap with massive amounts of pure essential oils (natural plant extracts that give the Zum Bar its fresh scent) so they are highly aromatherapeutic. With over 31 different scents you're bound to find one (or 31) you just can't live without!

You can use Zum Bar natural soap in your linen closets to keep your sheets and towels smelling fresh. Or store one in your car to give you a blast of aromatherapy every time you start your engine.

There's no wrong way to use a Zum Bar! Here are a few ideas to get creative with our all-natural soap:

  • Tuck a Zum Bar under your clean folded sheets in the linen closet to make them smell dreamy. When you're ready to put them on your bed you'll have Zum Bars dancing in your dreams.
  • Throw a Zum Bar in your unmentionables drawer. Your undies will thank you.
  • Hide a Zum Bar in your car and drive around town with a fresh, natural lingering scent. It may get you out of a speeding ticket...Just ask Boo Boo.
  • Place a Zum Bar or two with your clean folded towels to keep them smelling clean and fresh.
  • The best way to use Zum Bar natural goat's milk soap is with a friend!

Why's Goat's Milk?

Why? Because goats milk is very good and never ba-ha-ha- ha-had. Goat's milk, the main ingredient in Zum Bars, is naturally ultra-moisturizing, naturally balanced for the skin, and naturally homogenized. (So in case you happen to have a pet goat, you could truly drink the milk straight from the teat. But that would make you creepy and it might freak out your goat.)

The truth is, goat's milk is probably the absolute best mix of "good for you" and "good for nature." Unlike commercial soap, goat's milk soap contains capric, caprylic and capronic acids, and the naturally occurring triglycerides. Otherwise known as good fats. These good fats in goat's milk result in a pH level so close to the pH level of your own skin, it helps to moisturize and keep your skin's oils in balance.

Goat's milk has a pH level that's as near to skin as a pair of faux leather pants. A pH level that's well balanced for healthy human hair and skin, while commercial soap can dry out the skin to the point at which it feels taut and itchy. The oil glands are forced to counteract, overproducing oils in an attempt to rebalance the pH of the skin. The result can be oily skin, clogged pores, blackheads and yuck - pimples.

Goat's milk offers an alphabet soup of vitamins. With its restorative vitamins, minerals and proteins, goat's milk soap simply maintains the balance. And no worries for people who have allergies to usual dairy products or sensitive skin.

Naturally-occurring glycerin. Another benefit to using Zum Bar Goat's Milk Soap is the presence of naturally- occurring glycerin. Since they use a cold-processed method, they do not add extra heat which maintains the integrity of the goat's milk, food grade olive, coconut, palm and castor oils and 100% pure essential oils. In the process of saponification, reactions between all of these ingredients produce the soap and a natural byproduct, super-moisturizing glycerin. Many big soap companies remove the glycerin and sell it for extra profit, but not Indigo Wild! It's called glycerin, not glycerout. Glycerin is a natural moisturizer and a humectant, which helps to pull impurities from your skin's pores and leave it moisturized, healed and protected.

Three letters: W-O-W. This could be more than you ever wanted to know about goat's milk, but Indigo Wild thinks the point is worth milking.

How the Goat's Milk Soap is Made

Ingredients
Like a drummer must painstakingly select a kit that both sounds great and feels just right, Indigo Wild selects their ingredients to mix perfectly with each other. From the high notes of the pure essential oils, to the syrupy bass of vegetable oils, the product you get is the result of their countless hours of studio time.

Process
"Cold-processed soap" is the greatest way to allow natural ingredients to jam together without unnecessary meddling. Indigo Wild's technique requires no extra heating or chemical aids for saponification, but relies solely on the heat of the natural reaction between oils (no lard!) and lye. The process preserves the integrity of the ingredients. It keeps the natural occurring glycerin, a major moisturizer, while commercial soap companies sell it as a profitable by-product. For the encore, extra oils are added leaving you with a super moisturizing bar of soap!

Pouring & Swirling
Once the ingredients have had time to do their thing, the recording artists A.K.A. soap makers, step in to bring it all together. A dash of all-natural pigment, a thump of organic herbs, and some steady stirring, and voila! The record (ahem, soap) is almost there! With the concentration of a guitarist mid solo, they pour and swirl like they're high on life, making sure each batch of soap is perfect and oh-so- sexy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Indigo Wild test their products on animals?
They do not test their products on animals. They love to test them on themselves and their friends and family.

What kind of preservatives does Indigo Wild use?
For the products that require preservatives, they use tocopherol (vitamin e), rosemary oleoresin, and potassium sorbate.

What is the shelf life of the products?
Because Indigo Wild's products are all natural it is best to use them up. Zum Bars can last two years and they are still wonderful! The scent fades over time but it is still a great bar of soap. The lotions should probably be used within a year of the purchase date. Keep all products out of direct sunlight and heat. You can even put them in the refrigerator to extend their shelf life.

Do they have any vegan products?
All Zum Products are Vegan, Except Zum Bars (Goat's Milk), Zum Kisses (Honey), & Zum Rub (Goat's Milk).

Where did they get the name "zum"?
Zum is simply a play on the word "some". As in "This sure is "zum" bar of soap!"

Dirty Words

There are a handful of ingredients Indigo Wild simply avoids when it comes to handmaking their products. These words are not just dirty, they're downright disgusting. Indigo Wild doesn't and will never use the following ingredients:

Animal Tallow
Animal Tallow or Sodium Tallowate, comes from rendered animal fat. Many rendering companies get their animal lard from road kill.

Cocoamidopropyl Betaine
Cocamidopropyl Betaine is a surfactant, giving detergents their manufactured cleansing and lathering properties. It is a known irritant to skin, eyes, and lungs. Plus, it has been shown it can be carcinogenic.

Sulfates/Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)
Sulfates/Sodium lauryl sulfate and its extended family are used in products as an inexpensive foaming agent. It's an eye and skin irritant, and products containing laureth chemicals have been found to contain levels of 1,4 dioxan, which the EPA has classified as a carcinogen.

Petroleum By-Products / Mineral Oil
Petroleum by-products and Mineral oil are by-products of the distillation of gasoline from oil. It coats skin like plastic, clogging pores and interfering with the skin's ability to eliminate toxins. It slows cell development and skin function. You'll find this inexpensive ingredient in a lot of baby products and lotions.

Phthalates
Phthalates are used in perfumes and beauty products to make fragrance last longer. It interferes with the endocrine system, which regulates your body's growth, metabolism, and sexual development and function.

Triclosan
Triclosan is an antibacterial, antifungal chemical used in many consumer products. Studies by the FDA show it may contribute to bacteria resistance to antibiotics and alters hormone regulations. It is registered as a pesticide with the EPA.

Parabens
Parabens are chemical preservatives found in many body care products and cosmetics. They are linked to breast cancer as they have been found in breast cancer tumors and they mimic estrogen, a hormone known to aid in the development of breast cancer.

Artificial Colors
Artificial colors labeled as FD&C are believed to be cancer causing agents.

Propylene Glycol
Propylene glycol, a chemical derived from natural gas that acts as a penetration enhancer. It can alter the structure of skin by allowing chemicals to penetrate your skin and increase likelihood chemicals will enter the bloodstream.

Chemical Sunscreens
Chemical sunscreens absorb in the skin, thus also absorbing the harmful UV light and can cause skin damage, irritation, and increase risk of cancer.

DEA/TEA
DEA/TEA a chemical wetting agent and emulsifier for shampoos, lotions, and creams. They can react with ingredients in cosmetic formulas to form NDEA, a potent carcinogen. NDEA is readily absorbed through the skin and has been linked with stomach, esophagus, liver, and bladder cancers.

PEGS or PPGS
PEGs or PPGs are synthetic ingredients processed with ethylene oxide which is associated with reproductive effects, central nervous system depression and is an EPA classified carcinogen.

Tetrasodium EDTA
Tetrasodium EDTA a preservative made with carcinogens, formaldehyde, and sodium cyanide. It's a penetration enhancer so it breaks down the skin's protective barrier absorbing in the blood stream.

Diazolidinyl Urea
Diazolidinyl Urea is a preservative that acts as a formaldehyde releaser in body care products. Formaldehyde is classified as a human carcinogen by the EPA.

About Indigo Wild

Their people were born to be Indigo Wild. And - guilty as charged - every one of them is a true nature's child. They've banded together to thump and bump the rock and soul into every batch of Zum Bars, Glows, Rubs, Kisses, and more. Individually, their peeps are virtuosos who are oh-so major to helping the ingredients sing. But together, they're fusicians who ensure the holistic is always greater than the Zum of its parts.

They make Indigo Wild's stuff rock, balancing the rhythm that forms the backbone: Goat's milk, soy wax, jojoba oil, shea butter, argan oil, dragon's blood. They add stuff like meadowfoam seed oil, rosehip oil, and botanical extracts for bass vibes you can feel. Then they bring out the 100% pure essential oils to lay down a melody that hits the high notes.

Where The Indigo Wild Things Are
Before Indigo Wild touches your body, it touches these bodies. No worries, Indigo Wild is not showering with your soap singing "I'm Too Sexy" before they ship it off to you. They are talking handcrafted, handmade, hand-mixed, hands-on…which is all pretty dang handsome.

So take a spin with Indigo Wild's handy work. It's mixed and mashed with 100% pure essential oils, shea butter, meadowfoam seed oil, soy wax, goat's milk, botanical extracts and other jujulicious ingredients. It all helps to carry on some karma and magnify the mojo. Then it's flashed by the butt of a gnome, danced over by a shaman, kissed by a fairy and blessed by a goat.

This company runs from bad ingredients like artificial surfactants (synthetic foaming agents), petrochemicals, glycols and parabens. I love this brand of soap they smell great and they are very safe to use. As with most bar soap your skin will feel a little bit like it has a residue on it but it gets you clean. I am assuming that it is just the moisturizers in it. I have sensitive skin and this soap has worked very well for me.
