It also help to reduce gas and bloating following meals rich in carbohydrates.

A complete blend of ten active plant-based enzymes to break down fats, carbohydrates, proteins, sugars and fibre resulting in healthy digestion, improved nutrient absorption, increased energy levels and reduced hunger.

      Udo's Choise Enzyme Blends
Supplementing with Udo's Choice Enzyme Blends at every meal help to promote proper digestion, support healthy immunity, improve nutrient absorption, and increase energy levels. Udo's Choice Enzyme Blend is useful for mititgating a variety of gastrointestinal conditions including:

      • Gas and Bloating
      • Acid Reflux and Heartburn
      • Irregularity

The Udo's Choice line of age-specific enzyme blends help maximize absorption of available nutrients from foods by assisting in the digestion of proteins, fasts, carbohydrates, and soluble fiber. Udo's Choice Digestive Enzyme Blends are designed to replace enzymes lost in food processing and cooking, thereby supporting good digestion. Udo's formulas use only full-spectrum high protease enzymes with guaranteed activity, using the Food Chemical Codex (FCC) standard of potency. World-renowned nutrition expert Udo Erasmus has created three distinctive vegetarian enzyme formulations to facilitate healthy digestion, improve nutrient absorption, increase energy levels, and support healthy immune responses.

There are three varieties to choose from because not one single enzyme or enzyme formula is appropriate for everyone. This is because our dietary and lifestyle habits, as well as the strength of our digestive systems, change over time and throughout the various stages of life. Udo's Choice Enzymes Blends offer you a choice so you can incorporate a tailor-made enzyme blend into your lifestyle.

There are two basic types of enzymes involved in the digestive process: those that are produced by our bodies and those that are present in raw foods. In the body, our naturally occurring digestive enzymes help us to break down and assimilate nutrients from food. They are produced by the pancreas, stomach, and salivary glands to act on food in the small intestine, stomach, or mouth. Food enzymes are found in raw foods, which come equipped with some of the enzymes needed for their own digestion. Enzymes in foods are heat-sensitive; cooking and processing can destroy 100% of these enzymes. The lack of food enzymes in the modern diet results in the pancreas becoming overworked, leading to the uncomfortable effects of indigestion. Production of pancreatic digestive enzymes is decreased by stress, caffeine, alcohol, illness, pregnancy, and simply aging.

      What Do Enzymes Do?
Without enzymes, we could not exist. Our bodies' reactions would be too slow for life to be possible. The human body makes and uses more than 3,000 kinds of enzymes that speed up chemical reactions and save energy. Digestive enzymes are like scissors that cut up the foods we eat into basic building blocks that our body then absorbs and reassembles to build cells, tissues, organs glands and entire body systems. If our digestion is compromised then so is our health. Many enzymes on the market today are made from animal organs - hog stomach, bovine pancreas, lamb forestomach etc. These individual animal enzymes work only in a narrow pH range, and are usually only capable of digesting protein or fat. Udo's Choice Enzyme Blend, however, is a broad spectrum plant enzyme supplement that has been derived from actual plants and cultivated on a plant medium.

It has a wide pH range of activity, allowing it to function throughout the entire digestive tract. Plant enzymes begin working in the upper stomach, are temporarily inactivated in the lower stomach, and then return to their active state in the intestines, helping to complete the digestive process.

Why Do We Need to Supplement with Enzymes?
Caffeine, alcohol, illness, pregnancy and stress all take their toll on our enzyme reserves. Our bodies also produce fewer enzymes as we age but the main cause for digestive enzyme shortage is our modern diets. Today's diets don't contain as much enzyme-containing raw foods as they once did, and modern food processing techniques and cooking destroy nearly 100% of these naturally occurring enzymes. Raw foods may not even contain as many enzymes as they should, due to environmental factors, depleted soil and preservation techniques. So the body is left to try and compensate by producing more internal digestive enzymes, but its ability to do this has limits. Enzyme-deficient foods put a burden on the digestive system that it wasn't designed to handle. Incomplete digestion can lead to poor nutrient absorption, fatigue, digestive upset, food allergies and other health conditions. Partially digested food particles escaping from the gut cause an immune response, and the body may also steal enzymes from the immune system, compromising it even further.

      Maximum Results
Enzymes have no taste. For best results, open up and mix the contents of one capsule of digestive enzymes throughout cold or warm (but not piping hot) foods, or swallow capsules during the meal. It is most important to take digestive enzymes with foods that are rich in protein, as poor protein digestion can trigger many health problems. Udo's Choice:" ":handling and shipment of your order. About Flora
At Flora, they have been manufacturing and supplying premium herbal products since 1965, but their roots stretch back to Germany in the early 1900s, where Dr. Otto Greither, grandfather of the current owner Thomas Greither, dedicated his life to the discovery, production and distribution of natural health care products. Flora has preserved his original dedication to perfect and make available herbal remedies that ensure maximum purity, quality and potency with a holistic approach to health.

      Flora Mission

      In God We Trust
The mission of Flora is to participate in the continuing evolution of the people on Earth toward universal harmony, peace and perfection by providing products and services for the purification and upliftment of the body and spirit, and by providing to each person who derives a livelihood with Flora, an opportunity for personal growth and advancement of these goals in life.

      History
      In 1965,
Flora began its North American operations in Burnaby, British Columbia, and is currently owned by natural health visionary Thomas Greither. Originally, Thomas ran a natural foods store in Burlington, Vermont, and it was his dream to produce and provide consumers with the finest health products available.

In its early stages, Flora served primarily as a centre for distributing and marketing European herbal remedies. At that time, alternative health products were virtually unknown in Canada. As interest grew, Flora began manufacturing natural bulk laxatives and its own line of herbal therapeutic teas. These teas were the first of their kind to be prepared in Canada and their popularity soon blossomed.

In 1986, Flora resumed its role as a pioneer when it produced the first truly cold-pressed, unrefined oils for medicinal use or food preparation. A unique manufacturing method eliminates any light or oxygen and allows the enzymes in the seed matter to be processed at body temperature and the essential fatty acids to remain active.

In 1988, Flora expanded into the U.S., opening a manufacturing facility in Lynden, Washington. The company also acquired several acres of farmland in order to grow its own organic herbs. All stages of production are done in-house in Burnaby and Lynden, from selecting and lab testing all raw materials to herb extraction, encapsulation and final packaging.

In June of 1992, in cooperation with Elaine Alexander, the company began preparing and distributing the remarkable herbal formula known as Flor•Essence™. Its popular effect in exerting a positive influence on a host of chronic conditions has rapidly spread throughout the health community and is revered by people everywhere for its life-rejuvenating benefits. Flora also launched a foundational line of health products under the Udo's Choice™ label including the first age-specific probiotics and vegetarian DHA.

Today, Flora continues its innovation in product development and environmentally friendly manufacturing practices.

      Premium Quality
Flora has evolved into one of North America's premier natural health products companies. The U.S. and Canadian production plants include sophisticated semi-automatic and fully automatic equipment for processing quality herbal teas and liquid tonics, encapsulating herbal extracts and cold-pressing certified organic seeds into health-benefitting oils. Flora's ongoing research and development has resulted in a number of production methods which are the finest in the world.

All of Flora's products are manufactured in accordance with GMP standards and the facilities and manufacturing procedures are in compliance with all regulatory agencies in Canada and the United States, including Health Canada and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In addition, Flora is a certified organic producer and processor overseen by the third-party certifying agency, Quality Assurance International, (QAI). This means that the organic herbal remedies prepared and distributed by Flora are guaranteed top quality and chemical free, right from the seed that is planted to the harvest and from the post-harvest facilities to the final production and packing.

Thomas Greither is dedicated to preserving the environment and in utilizing production and packaging practices that are ecologically sound, including vegetarian capsules for all the dry herbal extracts and environmentally friendly amber glass bottles for the herbal tonics and organic oils.

Flora has been honoured with numerous awards and continually strives to remain a leader in the field of natural health by remaining committed to its mandate of offering only supreme quality formulas.

      Flora Farms
Flora grows most of its own herbs on farms in Washington and Chile and purchases the rest through fair trade practices from organic farmers. "We are one of the very few companies who actually grow our own herbs," says Thomas Greither. "If we buy from another farm, we know what seed they used, and we always receive the herbs in the whole form. You can tell if it was dried properly and handled properly. Most companies buy them powdered. We have a whole grinding department. Each herb needs a different cutting mechanism, and we cut them just before manufacturing. With essential herbs, if I grind them a half a year before manufacturing, that would not be as effective. Sometimes the industry gets a bad name because of the use of these dried herbs. Essential oils oxidize out of the product. For example, in our teas, we have a special vapour moisture barrier so the essential oils from the product can't evaporate; it preserves freshness."

The certified organic farm in Chile lies on 1500 acres of land that has never been intensively farmed, and was thoroughly tested before cultivation began to ensure it was free of pollutants such as chemical fertilizers. The farm is set in a pristine paradise cut off by the deserts in the north, the waters of the Antarctic in the south, the Andes (with a height of 5,500 metres) in the east and the Pacific Ocean in the west. This natural enclosing wall protects from plant diseases and insects, and there are no city exhaust fumes or sources of industrial pollution for many kilometres.

Today, approximately 100 different raw materials are supplied here, from more than 80 plant species. Once harvested, the plants are dried using the world's most advanced eco-friendly solar dryers.

      Partners
Flora also distributes products for their close manufacturing partners who have the same high standards and are dedicated to preparing supreme quality, well-researched and tested remedies to provide for you and your family. They have the great privilege of working together within a global health community to both manufacture and distribute their own products as well as distribute herbal preparations of other leading companies.

      Udo's Choice
Udo Erasmus is an international authority on fats, oils, cholesterol and human health.

Udo received his B.Sc. in Honours Zoology from the University of British Columbia and followed this with graduate studies in Biochemistry and Genetics. In 1980, his life took a significant turn when he was poisoned by pesticides. When conventional medicine was unable to provide help, he concluded that his health was his own responsibility and turned his attention to nutrition. Several years of research culminated in his bestselling book, Fats that Heal Fats that Kill, which earned him a Ph.D. in Nutrition.

In 1983, he began to pioneer technology for pressing and packaging edible, fresh oils made with health in mind, by excluding the three main factors that transform nutritious oils into toxic ones – light, heat and oxygen. Until that time, oils were highly processed by destructive methods, sacrificing health benefits in order to attain longer shelf life.

Over the past fifteen years, he has appeared on nationally syndicated radio and television shows and has given thousands of media interviews and lectures, educating audiences around the world on the components of good health. Presently, Udo continues to develop steps towards optimum health and to work on his next book.
