Horse Chestnut With Grape Seed Extract by Natural Factors
Natural Factors - Horse Chestnut With Grape Seed Extract - 60 Capsules
Natural Factors Horse Chestnut with Grape Seed Extract is a unique antioxidant combination that supports the circulatory system. Escin (Horse Chestnut’s active component) strengthens veins to prevent the fluid leakage out of blood vessels which can lead to swelling. Grape Seed is a clinically proven free radical scavenger, which prevents cellular damage in the body. Together, Horse Chestnut and Grape Seed are effective in maintaining the structural integrity of veins and capillaries that are frequently exposed to stress.
Parts used and where grown
The horse chestnut tree is native to Asia and northern Greece, but it is now cultivated in many areas of Europe and North America. The tree produces fruits that are made up of a spiny capsule containing one to three large seeds, known as horse chestnuts. Traditionally, many of the aerial parts of the horse chestnut tree, including the seeds, leaves, and bark, were used in medicinal preparations. Modern extracts of horse chestnut are usually made from the seeds, which are high in the active constituent aescin (also known as escin).
Historical or traditional use
Horse chestnut leaves have been used by herbalists as a cough remedy and to reduce fevers.1 The leaves were also believed to reduce pain and inflammation of arthritis and rheumatism. In traditional herbal medicine, poultices of the seeds have been used topically to treat skin ulcers and skin cancer. Other uses include the internal and external application for problems of venous circulation, including varicose veins and hemorrhoids.

A quality herbal product starts with the highest quality fresh organic plant material. The efficacy of herbal products has always been affected by growing conditions, harvesting, processing and storage. At Factor Farms in beautiful Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada our quality can be guaranteed as we control the entire process from seedling to finished product.
To grow herbs organically no chemical fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides or pesticides are allowed. We use only natural substances that have been approved by the organic industry. You can be assured that the fresh herb extracts contain no traces of unwanted chemical. Even the seed and plant sources are organic.
To be organically certified, certification inspectors work closely with growers to ensure that the organic standards are adhered to. We must keep detailed records of what we use on our farm. Even after harvest, processing is regulated so that no harmful chemicals are used to manufacture the fresh herb extracts.
Local cultivation of medicinal herbs at Factors Farms ensures that the herbs are picked, processed, and extracted at just the right time when the active ingredients are at their peak.
Natural Factor knows that the natural habitats of many herbs are shrinking and that over-harvesting from the wild can endanger native medicinal plant populations. So organic cultivation of herbs is preferred over "wild crafting".

I have had purple veins in my calves for a few years, with occasional cramping sensations and slight discomfort, especially after long periods of bicycling, jogging, hikes or standing, especially in hot weather. After finishing one bottle of this product, I believe the purplish areas have grown smaller (I did not take photographs) and I think there is less discomfort. Studies have shown that Horse Chestnut and Grape Seed Extract truly do help (see University of Maryland Medical Centre at umm.edu/altmed and other reputable sites). Based on my experiences, I intend to give this product a try for 6 months or longer to see if I can strengthen the veins. Natural Factors is a company that produces excellent herbal products.
Soothing for varicose veins. I've been using the product for a couple of months and seems to be helping.
