Burt’s Bees Outdoor… Discover. Experience. Protect.
Burt’s Bees has created a special line of Outdoor products that treat and protect skin naturally, so you can make the most of the great outdoors while also helping sustain the environment. Burt's Bees Outdoor products’ eco-friendly formulas and packaging care for you and the environment:
- Natural cleansers made from coconut and sunflower oils instead of sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). SLS is a synthetic ingredient found in many face, hair and body products. It is used as a foaming agent, and has no inherent moisturizing properties. Furthermore, SLS does not meet the standards of the Natural Product Association.
- Beeswax and Japan Fruit Wax instead of petrolatum. Petrolatum is often found in over-the-counter skin care products and is a non-renewable hydrocarbon made from crude oil.
- Titanium dioxide instead of oxybenzone. Oxybenzone is a synthetic active commonly found in sunscreens.
- Sustainable packaging instead of non-recyclable, non-portable, or non-usable packaging that is still often used today. Burt's Bees' packaging protects the environment by using sustainable packaging that is portable, reusable or recyclable.

Burt's Bees Frequently Asked Questions
Are your products hypoallergenic?
There is no defined methodology to test for allergic reactions in beauty or personal care products, nor does the FDA regulate use of the term "hypoallergenic." Consequently, Burt's Bees does not position their products as hypoallergenic. A list of ingredients for each product is available on individual product information pages on this site.
Are your products safe for pregnant women to use?
Burt's Bees recommends that any expectant mother check with her physician before changing her skin care routine with their products, or any other line of products.
How long will my Burt's Bees products stay fresh and what is the best way to store them?
Burt's Bees products are made with natural ingredients. They purposely present our products in smaller portions so you finish them while their ingredients are still fresh and providing their maximum effectiveness. As such, we recommend you store creams and oils in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and heat. Creams may be stored in their cartons for extra protection.
Where are Burt's Bees products made?
Over 95% of Burt's Bees products are made right in their own manufacturing plant in Durham, NC. The rest are made by other respectable American manufacturers.
Do you test on animals and do your products contain animal-derived ingredients?
Burt's Bees does NOT conduct product or ingredient tests of any kind on animals. A few of their products contain ingredients derived from animals such as beeswax, royal jelly, milk and carmine.
I am allergic to bees. Can I still use your products?
Burt's Bees does not use actual bee venom in their products – only bee by products such as honey, beeswax, royal jelly and honey powder. However, if you are allergic to bee by-products, then Burt's Bees does not suggest using their products. They recommend that you contact your health care provider when changing your skin care regimen to find out which products are best for you.

About Burt's Bees
At Burt’s Bees, they scour the good earth to find the most natural, effective ingredients to put in our products. To Burt’s Bees, the word “natural” means only one thing. It means, “harvested from nature.” And they adhere to that definition like the strictest of school teachers. There are ingredients that you will never find in any Burt’s Bees product. Things like petroleum which can be toxic. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, which is a harsh, aggressive ingredient used in certain beauty products. And when was the last time you saw a farmer growing Propylene Glycol? Rather than loading their products up with harsh chemicals or unnecessary fillers, they offer you only the good stuff.

We have used this for bug bites and scratches. It works quickly and took the bug bite itch away completely. The tin is nice, because it compact. It is nice to always have a fix-it-all ointment with me at all times in my purse, just in case. Great stuff!
Not only does this heal minor cuts and other abrasions, it seems to reduce some of the scarring, at least, it did for me. It smells wonderful and feels great. Works as a cuticle cream or fix for a hangnail as well. Great product from burt's! Thanks.
I use other Burt's Bees products & they have been just fine. This product was new to me. Specifically, I had a very dry, itchy large area on my leg that was a healing abrasion, made worse by the fact that it itched & I scratched. I was hoping this ointment would help, but the area is bigger than my hand, & this amount is slight. I will use the ointment on other irritations, it does help with dryness.
very useful. You must have it for your baby.
Very good and excellent product to baby use. It could apply to everything, very cheap and good ones
It really works on everything.
Really great healing ointment for any skin issue, wounds, rashes, etc I have dry eczema and skin very sensitive to environmental irritants, cleaning products, and cosmetics--I can testify this ointment is great to deal with these kinds of chronic skin issues. Better, cheaper, and safer in my opinion than many prescription skin ointments for dermetitis/eczema type conditions. I use it on my lips (since I have a nervous habit of biting them) and it does a great job to heal rough cracked lips. Highly recommended!
no one should be without this amazing product. can be used for all skin problems. it works great.
We use this ointment for every itchiness we might have. Especially, it is good for bug bites.
