Tea drinking has been a healthful delight for centuries. Taking a moment to prepare a cup of tea is a simple ritual that can enhance mental clarity, create a state of serenity and promote relaxation

fill the kettle with freshly drawn, cold water from the purest source available.

Bring water to a rolling boil. Pour over one tea bag per cup, allowing 4-5 minutes for the flavors to unfold to their fullest. Feel free to embellish as desired.

For a refreshing, organic iced tea, brew double strength before serving over ice.

    Brewing the Perfect Cup
Brewing tea can be as complex as a Japanese tea ceremony or as simple as tossing a teabag into your favorite mug. But any way you steep it, taking a moment for yourself to prepare a cup of tea is certainly part of the ritual’s appeal.

We offer these basic guidelines as a place for you to begin your tea enjoyment.

    The Water
A truly satisfying cup of tea begins with the best water – fresh and cold from the purest source available.

For oolong and black teas, use water right off a rolling boil. Don’t let the water keep boiling though, or it will lose too much oxygen and result in a flat-tasting tea.

White tea and green tea should be brewed with water that is cooler than boiling; just sit back and wait a minute or two after the water has reached a boil.

    Steeping
Rather than steep by color, start by following the time recommended on the package. Then, adjust the length of time according to your personal taste. Once you’ve found the time that works for you, follow it to ensure consistency from cup to cup. Be sure to remove the teabag after the desired time has passed. Don’t just let the tea sit and continue to infuse.

    Loose Leaf
For loose tea, measure out one teaspoon per cup. Be sure to choose an infuser or strainer with holes small enough to contain the leaf particles. We’ve found the disposable t-sac filter papers to be an excellent option (and they can be composted).

    About Choice Organic Teas

A firm belief in organics, with a dedication to ensure the ethical treatment of workers who cultivate tea, and a team of dedicated employees at choice organic teas, has made the company a modern day tea pioneer. A brand of Granum, Inc. Of Seattle, WA, choice organic teas made its debut in 1989 as an outgrowth of the company founder, Blake Rankin’s active involvement in the organic marketplace. As North America’s #1 selling exclusively certified organic tea line, they have promoted the growth and development of organic agriculture in tea estates worldwide. In 2000, choice organic teas became the first tea crafter in the United States to offer fair trade certified™ tea. Today, they proudly offer more varieties of fair trade certified tea than any other tea company in North America, expanding awareness of a just form of trade with the developing world. Choice organic teas are manufactured in a certified organic facility where green-e certified renewable energy certificates (recs) from wind power are purchased to offset 100 percent of the facility’s electricity.
